...in islam, wherever it flourishes, we have gut-wrenching images of gay men being thrown off of buildings; being hung from cranes or just makeshift gallows; being shot or beat to death...i am so familiar with Omar and the Queen of Palesteen Tlaib's source of opinion...islam.
sure, she explains it away with help from AOC and Dem harumph-harumphing old school politicians; and after a bit it almost seems like we jumped to mean-spirited conclusions (almost).
enter the "married to a man" gay x2 mayor Buttigieg ...

weeell...now we come to a special moment in time! will the Somali Doll Ilhan and the Queen of Palestine Raschida go humina-humina humina gay? What gay?
we're Americans ...no gay here! or...say nothing but avoid his rallies, etc.
all i want from life is to live long enough to see him win the nom!
i wanna watch the scramble to run against him by the other hopefuls, careful not to say anything un-woke while exposing his obvious unfitness for the spot.
no arab leader will shake hands or invite him to meet, oh noes!

God, please grant me this, to thee i pray! to see those women become islamic pretzels...lol!

Pretty obvious this put upon freshman MoC could end a great deal of the current unpleasantness surrounding her by a simple act of contrition.

But then I forget that contrition is a concept foreign to progressive- fascists.

Americans are the most generous, forgiving and accommodating people in the world. Some, especially dhimmicrats who ignore the obvious dangers of islam prefer to instead cry "islamophobia". A phobia is an irrational fear of something or someone without foundation or cause. Ilhan Ilhan has just ticked off a slew of excellent reasons to both fear and despise the ideology (it ISN'T a religion) that sponsors and encourages murder, misogyny, pedophilia and slavery. And the communists support them. Perhaps they will be collateral damage when the ticking stops.

Evidently "some people" are now sending Omar death threats to the point where Pelosi has increased security around the congresswoman and her family.
What a..uh...shame, I guess.

Islam is incompatible with civilization.

There are those who get very upset when they hear that.
They start saying I am a racist
(even though Islam is a religious cult NOT a race or ethnicity)
They say I'm bigoted...
OK, Name a single Islamic country around the world that has the same level of respect for individual liberties found throughout the western democracies...
Name a single Islamic country that protects the rights of minorities within their countries (even those minorities that disagree with the tenants of Islam)...
And name any Islamic country that allows other religions to proselytize freely like the western democracies do for all religions...
You would think that after over a thousand years the Islamic cult could produce a single country that is civilized.

Yet what do we see in Islamic countries?
Sharia Law - There are several Islamic countries around the world today that punish women accused of adultery by STONING them to death.
Islam is the only world religion that still practices slavery.
Not to mention the tens of thousands of terrorist attacks since 911.
Some claim that all religions do bad things, yet when have you ever seen any religion except Islam holding up the head they just sawed off?

So, show me anything that would make any part of my statement any less true, or sad.

Islam is incompatible with civilization.

Anyone who demands to take the "oath of office" on a koran is already declaring that they have disrespect and derision for our Constitution because that book requires the overthrow of any government than its own. Churchill had the best evaluation of "mohammedism"!

@MSG Grumpy- Nice summary. Not too much to add, but I would echo another reader who observed that Islam is not a religion. It is a 7th century death cult, a system of political conquest masquerading as a religion. What other religion holds up severed heads with glee indeed.

@Sortahwitte,
Excellent observation! I hope that, when she enters the afterlife (by God’s hand, not man’s), she gets to meet each and every person that had “something” done to them by “somebody.”

@Unknown and @marcus tullius cicero,

Yea, I would personally like to see this nitwit traitorous POS held accountable for her actions. It is a sad day when our elected representatives supports non American actions and speech. Somehow, I though that those we elected were to support their constitutiants but again, apparently I was mistaken.

We have that RINO McConnell stabbing the President in the back, probably because of his wife and their Chinese inlaws. We have turncoats in the Senate that for sure are not doing the will of the people. Lastly, I am enjoying the dems running for an office not a dang one is qualified to hold, mostly because they are splitting up the donations and as a loser will not send a nickle to the winner. @Mike aka Proof- I guess I'll be doing that from now on, too.

@Jim Irre- If she's not part of a forward guard, she's wasting a lot of perfectly good hate.

@Michael- Freedom of Speech is precious for all of us (not including calls for violence). The fact that Omar is getting called out for her statements is perfectly fair.

@Gee M- Lots of good points. One doesn't have to be Islamophobic to be repulsed by much of what goes on in Muslim countries. That being said, Muslims in the United States are entitled to the same civil rights as anyone else - no less and (certainly) no more.

@Regnad Kcin- I don't need them swallowed by a black hole, I just want them to STFU for awhile.

@M. Mitchell Marmel- It's part of nature's perfect balance.

@REM1875- I see what you did there...

@Fish Out of Water- Considering the district she's from, Omar is likely to be in Washington for quite awhile. Tlaib seems at least slightly more savvy, but is still a pain in the rear end.

@Sandra Gray- That's the point: I genuinely don't know.

@Fish Out of Water- How I wish that "simple act of contrition" could and would take place. We don't have to be at each other's throats, but it can only change through honest dialogue. It genuinely saddens me that I don't see it happening.

The tone deaf Ilhan Omar, on purpose?

Art and architecture have a unique ability to help us connect across our differences and bring people together in important ways. Thinking of the people of Paris and praying for every first responder trying to save this wonder.

Just "art and architecture"?

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Snark- It's not "Islamophobia" to be aware of the hundreds (probably thousands) of terroristic acts performed in the name of Islam in recent years. Healthy caution is not a phobia (and I mean healthy caution rather than assuming that all Muslims are bad people, which I don't believe to be the case).

@Geoff King- Death threats aren't cool and should be treated seriously. But I wish I had a nickel for every Tweet I've seen saying that "Nazis" who voted for Trump should be killed.

@MSG Grumpy- I'm no expert, but I've got nothing to contradict what you're saying. When I go to our local grocery and see a woman in a full burqa (which is not unusual around here), I'm chilled because I know that this is a person who doesn't believe in the rights and liberties that I believe in. And frankly, I'm not comfortable with ANYONE who walks around in a black tent looking through an embroidered slot. It's just a little too easy to imagine a suicide vest under there.

By the way, in the news yesterday (locally) was a story about a high schooler in the area who was finally sentenced for planning a terror attack at one of our local malls. I'm pretty sure the fact that he was a radical Muslim does not indicate Islamophobia on my part.

@PaBlum- Geez, I hadn't realized it. But it makes me glad that I included it in today's cartoon.

@Fred Ciampi- I'm not sure about my ability to hit a target, but give me that drink and I'll demonstrate my ability to write my name in the snow. Actually, at 190 proof, I could probably write my name in bedrock.

@Bruce Bleu- It's hard to argue that the symbolism isn't pretty bad.

@TrickyRicky- Agreed.d

@Sortahwitte- Exactly.

@John the Econ- I'm not sure if "some people" was considered a slur, but when Ross Perot said "you people" to a black crowd it was considered racist (in hindsight - I don't think the audience minded at all). And yes, Omar is representing those who elected her...and reflecting on them. Maybe that's something they should all give additional thought to.

@Rod- It's sad to see the old traditions die...

@Unknown- Part of me agrees, but part of me thinks it speaks to the amazing tolerance and diversity built into our institutions. Alternate viewpoints are entertained, and that's good. But there are limits, and Omar is really looking for them.

@marcus tullius cicero- Shame! Come back! (Sorry, I've been watching too many westerns)

@Pat Cummings- I'm guessing "security" is pretty good at Guantanamo. Just till the threats die down, of course.

@Judi King- The track record doesn't really argue the case for Islam very well.

@Colby Muenster- Good comments!

@Dan- Yes, Notre Dame has been enveloped in flames and it's a sad day for western civilization. Which didn't keep me from posting a pretty tasteless and "too soon" cartoon about it on Facebook. And wow, "Holy Smoke"? Well played!

@james daily- We live in very strange times, indeed.

@M. Mitchell Marmel- It's been way too long since I've heard the name Doodles Weaver. But now I can reset the clock!

@Fish Out of Water- Hey, Trump pulled out of the Paris Climate Agreement, and now a cathedral in Paris has burned. If that's not evidence of global warming, I don't know what is.

@NSF- Does anyone know if she was in Paris today...? And yes, I'm aware of the other churches vandalized or burned, and am waiting to hear if there's a connection.

@JustaJeepGuy- Hard to say. I guess during the Call to Prayer, you can spot the Spaniards because they aren't praying in the streets.

@John the Econ- You know, Ilhan, a considerable amount of art and architecture (and flesh and bone) was reduced to ash on 9/11.

Sortahwitte said...

I guess it was to be expected. The fire at Notre Dame was still raging. The spire had not yet fallen. The msm on this side of the ocean was reporting that the fire started in some some renovation work. The fire investigators were putting on their shoes and it was already decided what had happened. Has anyone besides us been paying attention to the fires and vandalism taking place in European cathedrals over the past several months? If it wasn't careless workmen, I bet it was Methodists still pissed off over Calvin.

M. Mitchell Marmel said...

Colby Muenster said...

@John the Econ,
I saw a photo of the cross that was still standing inside Notre Dame. I hope Ilhan Omar also saw that particular piece of "art," and also felt the same sense of symbolism I did when I saw it.

Perhaps is actually was a welder's torch that started the fire, but perhaps it's equally as possible that it was a person who shares Omar's "faith" and beliefs.

Fred Ciampi said...

John the Econ, I have been seeing lot of that same sentiment across the internet. Hmmmmmmm......... And not only from conservative blogs and such.

John the Econ said...

@Colby Muenster: Yes, that "cross" picture was inspirational, and a reminder of what is really important.

Being an Occam's Razor kinda guy, I'm going with "accidental" until more compelling evidence to the contrary is presented. Yes, I'm aware of the "mysterious" fires that have been happening to churches across Europe. And I'm also aware of the fact that the authorities have every incentive to suppress any evidence of terrorism should that be the case.

But the reality is that the Mohammedans no longer need terrorism to achieve their ultimate goal in Europe. They have both numbers and time on their side. Now that they have a secure foothold on European soil, they can now overtake Europe within a single generation without setting another fire or firing a shot. Traditional Europeans haven't been having enough babies to replace themselves for generations now, whereas their new demographic from the east is much younger and are having lots of babies. Europe could totally re-fortify itself against immigration today, and it would ultimately make no difference.

Even before they become the de facto majority in France, they'll have all the political power they need to implement the social and economic policy they like. If the French don't rebuild Notre Dame quickly, they won't have to at all.

Rod said...

It seems the key people on site at Notre Dame probably already know almost for certain what demolition, renovation, construction screw-up started the fire. The question then is: Starting a small fire should not happen, but it does; frequently. It happened during work on our church but with only slight damage; and to another older stonechurch downtown later, which burned to the ground. Then it quickly becomes: How are or were they prepared to handle that? Fire-Watchmen, Extinguishers, immediate full call for more help, Fire hoses, any sprinkler systems with all that old wood, adequate fire water stations, cascade fire suppression or other means. I also saw that official fire brigades could not get to the fire due to location and traffic for TWO HOURS (?) and even then firewater supply was limited. All that with the River Senne flowing by,right there. It's a ridiculous tragedy; but in France & with bureaucracy a tragic result and just some limited damage is not so surprising.

Rod said...

I want to add something else more positive & appreciative: Clearly a lot of very dedicated & well trained effort was put into minimizing & mitigating the damage to Notre Dame and rescuing may objects. Those front-line responders have my deep respect & gratitude. And when I find a trustworthy means we will donate to rebuild though we've never been there.

I have worked with a few French folks, & also quickly passed through Paris (Orly airport) enroute to/from Moscow/Siberia for work; my firsthand impression was many especially younger French are a bit of stand-offish and ignorant or unappreciative for what the United States did to save their nation; not once but twice in world war. OK; that was a long time ago. Study some history why don't they? I also know it's not true of many others.

If we or I ever go to to France (pretty low on the list ) it will be to visit Meuese Argonne region where my grandfather (bless his kind soul & there are tears in my eyes as I get to this) was shot not once nor twice but three times in that WWI-ending battle, and yet survived to carry the family genes on down to me. I would like to go there. And also ride a boat on the Seine (correct spelling this time) . And in spite of the ego, as I diver I think Jacques Cousteau and also the composers Ravel and Lalo were cool.

Our experience with Parisians is favor as well. We had a nightmare while staying in London: wallet pickpockets, part of our luggage destroyed, dealing surely, rude people and flying into Paris, we wondered if things could get worse.

Quite the opposite. Two things still stand out. First, we were warned there would a formidable line of those waiting to enter the Louvre and when we arrived, sure enough.

So I and wife unit and in toddler stroller son unit took our place in line and waited. After a few minutes, the Louvre employee in charge of letting people in motioned to us several times and when we went over, he let the three of us in ahead of others.

The second, on the morning of our departure, wife unit went to the same bakery we had gone to each day, to get breakfast and other pastries for our long flight back to Japan.

She took quite a long time coming back and I started to be concerned about making our flight. When she finally came back, learned the reason.

The shop owners had brought someone who spoke English and were waiting for wife unit, who when she arrived was plied with questions about where'd she come from, what she was doing in Paris, ....

If we ever have the chance to travel and have a choice between London or Paris, it'll be Paris, hands down.

your treatise on the Muslim motivation to burn Notre Dame is well written, however, it is flawed.
the taliban had near-complete control of major amounts of Afghanistan, and destroyed ancient shrines and killed people the didn't fit their concept of strict islam... much like isis did in iraq. i was in pre-russian afghanistan.
muslims tore all the faces off of statues and anything considered not clean of image; i remember a small greek clay fragment with faces knocked off... the great 12 story high bamiyan buhdda faceless to the chin...i remember years later catching a small news story showing the taliban dynamiting the buhddas to piles of rubble. one of the world's treasures they were...like the cathedral. one of the many christian "eyesores" in europe.
twin towers? yeah, they were a proud nyc landmark...
islam is not about live and let live.

John the Econ said...

@Gee M, I am in no way denying the long-term goals of fundamentalist Islam, one of which is the complete erasure of all competing ideologies and their artifacts. You are right; Notre Dame almost certainly will not survive the ultimate Islamification of Europe, at least as a cathedral. What I am saying is that destroying it now as a political act while there are still Europeans willing and able to resist what we see coming would be a mistake. My point is that they don't have to. There is no longer a need to invoke a bloody and costly civil war.
They just have to wait another 20 years while Europe becomes more feckless than it already is, and the diminishing number of inheritors of western civilization will be too few in numbers to resist anymore. At that point, they will be able to do anything they want. "Democracy", after all.

That was the point of what I said above, "If the French don't rebuild Notre Dame quickly, they won't have to at all." In a dozen years or so as French socialism consumes what is left and the Muslim population closes in on becoming a majority, there will be little desire, will, or ability to rebuild it.
