But when it snows in the Interior it tends to stay for long time, maybe until Spring. Snow gets so dry & "sandy" that it's often a construction material until spring, and with their frozen stable bases highways & roads are actually very good in deep winter. Rivers & wetlands can also be crossed (carefully) on ice or ice bridges; so one can actually go farther by vehicle in winter than in the rest of the year. Spring thaw is the mess. The Arctic is interesting.
