Thanks for posting my report and for the c...Stilt,

Thanks for posting my report and for the comments by you and fellow readers. I just wanted our group to have facts and not rely on 'fake news'.

I'm sitting here tonight trying to digest the spread of discontent throughout our country. I see that Durham, NC is hosting another mob of lib-idiots and that their property damage is totally unfettered by and devoid of any law enforcement. Much like the start of the Charlottesville event.

C'ville Police Chief Thomas spoke on record Mon. about his regrets for how things turned out. He neither admitted or denied that the lack of police action allowed the disaster to unfold but acknowledged that 'some things' could have been handled differently. He was very humble, sincere and actually looked like a beaten down man. I'm sure he was instructed by his 'Clown' Council employers/handlers as to what he could and couldn't say. He said several things went wrong and that many arriving rally goers passed through an area they were not prepared to defend. I find this hard to believe as they had weeks to plan for the event and well over an hour to adjust to conditions after seeing the shortfalls. They certainly had no problem stopping the rioting protesters at the KKK rally. A few tear gas canisters, some head knocking and 28 arrests put a very quick end to that mess. Interestingly, his explanation of why the officers were told to retreat rather than engage was because they were not wearing the proper riot gear.

I think Al Thomas is a good man who was put in a bad position. He took a lot of abuse from protesters, media, clergy, city manager and the entire 'Clown' Council for his swift and certain action following the KKK rally. He was accused of using unnecessary and excessive force, acting too quickly and police brutality. The complainers blamed the officers riot gear as being antagonistic.

So he took steps to protect his Department from the same type complaints and is now being accused of NOT stepping in aggressively in a timely manner and NOT being prepared (riot gear) to meet the threat.

Folks, if the 'progressive' (and some conservative) town leaders across the land don't quickly grow a set and knock down these libetard protesters, I'm afraid the 'good ole boys' will give it a shot. It won't be pretty.

I just watched some video of the statue destruction in Durham and truly saw the "frenzied long haired freaky people" just like I saw in the 60's - protesting the war (and the USA in general). They too were attacking the soldier, much like the soldier statue attacks today. I spent the last two of my four service years (1964-68) stationed in Washington and we were told (for safety) not to wear our service uniform in public. How about that for an insult?

I'm concerned and worried for our country and the innocent sane folks who will be victims of collateral damage. May God bless America and damn the trouble makers.JRMD from Virginianoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7492406791849373430.post-69907015918393506622017-08-15T00:09:40.287-05:002017-08-15T00:09:40.287-05:00Too much pseudo PC about Confederate flags as part...Too much pseudo PC about Confederate flags as part of state flags of long standing, too much tearing down the historical flags of the South as if suddenly they send the wrong messages to those who were freed by the incredible number of deaths on both sides, too much sudden hurt feelings by gazing on the statues of the South's heroes in a losing cause, too much B.S. from the media and pols jumping on the "righteous bandwagon" to get their latest opinions on the phoney "record," and finding the target -- President Trump -- for not including every baddy (oops, BLM was there) in his off the cuff initial speech instead of the real villains. As usual!

@MartyB- It's so terribly frustrating to see this madness escalating and feel powerless to stop it. Lord knows my itty-bitty blog isn't going to change anyone's mind, although at least it's an oasis of sorts for those of us who are here.

@Judi King- Per JRMD's post, I actually liked the recommendation of leaving the statue up but adding a plaque to give historical perspective and meaning. But those concepts are anathema to the Left.

@Velveeta Processed Cheese Food- Metaphorically speaking, I think ALL current members of the KKK are basically losers confined to metaphorical wheelchairs who are looking for attention.

@John the Econ- The whole concept of being guilty unless you "virtue signal" makes me sick. You won't find me quoting the Bible here very often, but let's hear what Matthew has to say on the subject: "Be careful not to perform your righteous acts before men to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven."

I'm not looking for that heavenly reward, but that's as accurate a condemnation of virtue signaling as anyone could want. Virtue signaling is not about doing good or being good; it's about being seen as good. It's an act of egotism, and does no good to those who actually need help.

And man, am I sick of being called horrific names because I support Freedom of Speech.

Mark Matis & Shelly- Good points!

@Ralph- I've seen video online of the car being beaten by protesters, but only AFTER he'd rammed the crowd. I'd have beaten on the car too! Should we remove the statue of Martin Luther King Jr in Washington because it "triggers" people with memories of our nation's racial discrimination? Tearing down monuments and revising history strikes me as "Taliban meets 1984."

@Kitty- Thanks for the kind words. It is always my hope that this site can be a little bastion of sanity, thanks to everyone who comments here.

@Geoff King- The Left doesn't really "get" irony. Which is a shame; it would be fun to see their heads explode.

@Tots- If I believed that Leftists pray, I'd say they were praying for an incident exactly like this (and they've been doing so for a long, long time - since violence almost ALWAYS comes from their side rather than ours). Make no mistake, the blood in the streets is seen as a cause for celebration to them.

@Alan- Exactly right.

@Alfonso Bedoya- I don't doubt that the Left has a long list of "Social Justice Heroes" that they'd like to see honored with statues. And if it happens, I'm definitely going to visit each site just to feed Ex-lax to the local pigeons.

@Harry Hamid- Excellent comments. It's absolutely right to condemn hateful, racist speech. But it's also absolutely right - and entirely necessary - to defend the First Amendment rights of those who want to say idiotic and offensive things. It's not a complicated concept, but it's one which the Left can't seem to wrap their little minds around.

And you're right that this protest would have been a big nothing if the "Unite the Right" group had just showed up with their mosquito-repellent tiki torches and ranted for a bit while the police protected their right to do so. Instead, the police actually seem to have been complicit in stirring up a hornet's nest and ignoring the aggressors (Antifa, mostly) in order to encourage politically useful violence.

And like you, I'm trying not to let this affect my thoughts in too big a way. This was a small event, being wildly magnified by the same media types who wanted it to happen.

@Pete (Detroit)- The Left is just salivating at the thought of someone on the Right finally using a gun to commit an act of violence (even if an act of violent self-defense). It has been made clear that the cops will not stand up to Antifa or BLM, and that violence against those on the Right (or alt-Right) will be condoned. Make no mistake, this is being done to set up the very scenario you're talking about.

@joe jetson- And did you see Barry's comment about Charlottesville? The sumbitch just quoted Nelson Mandela with a statement that sounded poetic and didn't address the situation at all. It's the perfect Obama move: say something that sort of sounds good, but means nothing.

And yes, I'm pretty sure he's happy with the way the various puppet strings are being pulled.Stilton Jarlsberghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14503164551782304564noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7492406791849373430.post-13112975977887112092017-08-14T19:36:43.825-05:002017-08-14T19:36:43.825-05:00@George Cooper and Anonymous- Thanks for the nice ...@George Cooper and Anonymous- Thanks for the nice comments. I'm just trying to connect the dots from a lot of sources. I have no special insights other than too much experience with how the news is manipulated these days. I've always been the guy quick with a joke, so it's odd that I now so often find myself trying to be the voice of common sense.

@Bobo- Originally the driver was identified as a Democrat supporter, but that turned out to be wrong. If we can believe the current reports (and that's a whopping "if," though the Wall Street Journal is at least in the mix) this was a screwed up kid who really did believe strongly in Nazis and white supremacy.

@REM1875- I just tried to cut as much bullshit out of the narrative as possible.

@Granny- Well said. It's breaking my heart to see Americans tossed into the ring like fighting dogs for the amusement of the manipulators.

@JRMD- EXCELLENT post, and you may have noticed that I bumped it to the front page. Your insights are better and clearer than pretty much anything else I've read to date. Thank you!

@Anonymous- I'm not big on conspiracies, but I'll absolutely concede that there may have been a lot of theater here intended to fool the public. It's well documented that the Left has frequently supplied fake Nazis and racists at conservative events just to make us look bad.

@Judi King- Make no mistake, the Leftist media isn't demanding that Trump denounce white supremacist groups, they want him to renounce them...the implication being that he previously supported them, which is nonsense.

And you make a good point about Obama; for 8 years the man encouraged violence in the streets and the mainstream media said nothing. The bastards.

@chef621- Unlike most of the coverage I've seen, my comments were not intended to be inflammatory. That's the mainstream media's game, and it's working too well. I don't know how we can stop the infighting, but we must.

@Fred Ciampi- I'm glad you weren't there. It sounds like the whole thing was a setup to feed the "Unite the Right" group to the angry mobs. As for the car crasher, I'm anxious to hear his side of the story to see what was going on. Had his car been attacked? Was he having a panic attack? Some lonely whackjob living in a retirement home distributed some anti-Jewish flyers about town. 1 guy. The place went nuts. You would have thought we were on the eve of the Kristallnacht with brownshirts marching down the streets pulling people from their homes. There were the predictable meetings, rallies, protests that went on for weeks. All angst caused by one malcontent loner.

Pretty ironic considering that most of the people outraged had nothing to say about Obama's very real antisemitism over the last 8 years.

Which brings me to another thought: The irony of this whole thing about protesting these supposed Nazis is that the agenda is actually completely Nazi-like. It's about enforcing the political narrative. Yesterday, I responded to a very Progressive friend's post on social media with an article from The Southern Poverty Law Center (of all places) stating that contrary to the media narrative, this was all about a mere 50 neo-Nazi-white-supremacists. This morning, he posted on my wall a picture of a rally he attended in his town in support of the protests, the subtle suggestion being that by my not protesting in a similar manner myself, that makes me just as bad as the Nazis.

Got it? By not adequately "virtue signaling" with the Progressive mob, you are one of "them" and should be shunned.

Hmmmmmm. It's sad that the vast majority of our fellow citizens don't know, much less care to learn, what might have actually taken place here because they let the MSM make their minds up for them long ago. It's fascinating to see history bending around an inflection point the way it has over the last 8+ years. It's sad there is so little individuals can due to change the trajectory this country is on. Which is one of the reasons my four favorite words have become "ammo is on sale."MartyBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06078534760199705034noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7492406791849373430.post-6521174972305953452017-08-14T11:26:18.269-05:002017-08-14T11:26:18.269-05:00@graylady said "In Germany the history of the...@graylady said "In Germany the history of the Nazi era is taught in public schools. It's required. How can we learn from mistakes in the past if we don't learn the past."

Actually, mandatory education about the Holocaust in Germany is less mandatory than it used to be:

Teaching the Holocaust to Muslim Germans, or Not

You see, Muslims tend to either deny the Holocaust, or approve of it. Either way, education based upon premise that the Holocaust was "bad" is deemed "offensive" to them. So the easiest solution is to just erase it from the curriculum for Muslim children. Over time, as the proportional population of Muslim children increases, it will be easier to erase it for everyone.

And we're basically doing the same thing here. Today, the statues and landmarks will be erased. Much of the era of slavery has already been scrubbed from the curriculum in America. (All began 30 years ago when "Huck Finn", which was probably one of the best narratives of the error for kids to understand was purged from required reading lists) In a generation, there will be little historical context left for the era. All we'll be left with is a tribalized society where everyone been told that they're "victims", but none will really even understand why.John the Econnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7492406791849373430.post-73776768607114242092017-08-14T11:04:17.396-05:002017-08-14T11:04:17.396-05:00"Stupidity Olympics". Once again, you&#..."Stupidity Olympics". Once again, you've nailed it.

My simple analysis: Roughly 50 KKK-neo-Nazi-whatevers organize a rally. Over 1000 counter-protesters show up to counter protest (aka "virtue signal") Predicable stupidity ensues. Internet goes apocalyptic.

Which is exactly what these 50 wanted to happen.

These otherwise irrelevant people are all into it for the attention. And boy did they get it. And then the left extrapolates the 50 as a proxy for the hundreds-of-millions who don't hate Trump, just as they extrapolated the single kid who shot up the church as a proxy for all white-male gun owners.

Mrs. Econ and myself did our best to ignore this over the weekend. And if you didn't show up at a sympathy rally in your community, then you're part of the problem to. Or least that's what I've been led to believe by my read of social media.

(I do have to give one of our local TV affiliates credit for totally ignoring this story during the evening local news)

The reality is that the KKK has been irrelevant as a political force for better part of the last 50 years. (Or when it was still a wholly owned subsidiary of the Democrats) IMHO, the only reason they still exist at all and get media attention is because the left needs to trot them out as evidence that the right is evil. (Even though fascism and the KKK is historically aligned with the left) For the last several decades, this usually meant lots of articles on David Duke popping up only in election years. But now it seems that we'll be hearing a lot about the KKK full-time, as the left needs another boogyman to replace the worn out (and now backfiring) "Trump is a stooge of Russia" narrative.

@JRMD: Thanks for the background. Certainly nothing that we would have learned by reading the New York Times.John the Econnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7492406791849373430.post-61164419383519317972017-08-14T10:25:36.649-05:002017-08-14T10:25:36.649-05:00...meanwhile, in his Washington, DC home, Barack H......meanwhile, in his Washington, DC home, Barack Hussein Obama watches, smiling, as his Alinsky-inspired plots thicken.Joe Jetsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03923530588639176903noreply@blogger.com
