Better Fed Than Red
We can't decide if it was the dumbest or most annoying news story of the weekend (probably both), but social media again went nuts along partisan lines upon hearing that White House spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders and seven dining companions were thrown out of the Red Hen Restaurant in Lexington, Virginia before being served because the staff and management hate the President and anyone associated with him.
Ms. Sanders (no relation to Colonel Sanders, who has also had his ups and downs with hens) left quietly with her party, wisely deciding that it's better not to make a scene rather than to be served wildly overpriced food containing spit, very personal little curly hairs, and the other bodily effluvia which likely would have tainted their entrees.
While many are criticizing the pussy hat-wearing management of the Red Hen Restaurant (and no, we're not making that up), we would actually like to see more restaurants adopt a similarly candid policy of making a public declaration of their bitter hatred of non-progressives.
Indeed, placing a sign to that effect in the window would help millions of decent, tolerant, patriotic folks avoid these hate-filled eateries. Not to mention avoiding the occasional bout of food poisoning which can be expected from restaurants that actively resist letting jackbooted Nazi-ish government health inspectors inspect their maggot-ridden kitchens.
As always, Sarah Huckabee Sanders - who is a national treasure - handled the inconvenient situation with aplomb and grace. We only hope the owners of the Red Hen Restaurant will do the same when facing their inevitable bankruptcy.
The "Haters" model would have been a little more convincing with a little armpit hair hanging out of her shirt and maybe a few stains from last week's menu on it.
ReplyDeleteSHS definitely IS a national treasure. Having to deal with those showboating, braying jackals at the WH without so much as a 9mm in each fist to put the hypocrites out of their misery is a feat I fear I’d never be able to pull off.
ReplyDeleteIf I was S.H.S. I'd call the local health dept. and have them give that greasy spoon a white glove sanitary inspection. Then, call the IRS and nail them with a 20 year tax audit with extreme prejudice. Lastly, file a massive discrimination lawsuit against them and build a Del Taco across the street to drive them out of business....
ReplyDeleteThe owner claimed that her gay staff members refused to serve racist Trump staff...ya know, the usual Lefty lunatic rhetoric.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have some actual factiods...from Ellen Degenerate...uh,Degeneris.
Ellen did not explain what she meant by Trump being "dangerous" to gay people. Despite similar, repeated accusations from the Left, Trump was elected as the most pro-LGBT Republican ever and has made clear that he is "fine" with the Supreme Court's ruling on same-sex marriage. The truth is, Trump likely supported gay marriage before Hillary Clinton, who did not endorse it until 2013.
If Ellen feels threatened by Trump's DOJ defending the First Amendment right of a private business owner to choose not to "create expression for and participate" in a ceremony, like a gay wedding, with which his deeply held beliefs conflict, her issue is with the Constitution, not Trump. If she is conflating gay people with transgender individuals, Trump's "transgender military ban" is actually just a return to a decades-old policy only reversed by President Obama in his final term and based in pragmatic issues, not ideological ones. Here is a summary of Trump's positions on LGBT issues dating back a few decades from The Hill:
In the 1980s & 1990s Trump donated heavily to charities that focused on the AIDS outbreak. When he floated a third party presidential run in 1999 he went on record saying he would consider adding sexual orientation to the Civil Rights Act. Trump is also believed to be the first private club owner in Palm Beach — in this case Mar-a-Lago — to admit a gay couple. This is not the resume of an LGBT foe.
Fast forward to the 2016 election and Trump’s view of the LGBT community remained unchanged. In June 2015 he forcefully condemned the terror attack at Pulse nightclub, a LGBT club. In condemning this attack, Trump bravely spoke an ugly truth many in the elite dare not speak – radical Islam and the LGBT community do not mix. Trump took this truth to Cleveland when he vowed to protect the LGBT community. ...
Trump asked gay Silicon Valley tycoon Peter Thiel to address the Republican delegates. Thiel accepted then and is was a part of Trump’s transition team. And now Trump is said to be considering Richard Grenell, an openly gay man, to be his ambassador to the U.N.
As usual theLefties got it wrong.
A couple of things.
ReplyDeleteFirst that area of the Commonwealth is definitely, definitely red, so this witless merchant I believe is an aberration, or else used the incident as an attention-getting ploy. Second, Lexington, is home to the Virginia Military Institute, but also to Washington and Lee University, which might explain a speck of looney blue.
Last, my travels to visit Son Unit in Kentucky always takes me through Lexington, Va. While I've never stopped at the Red Hen (don't intend to either now) I do patronize other places and with that in mind, wrote a note expressing my concerns to the Lexington, Va Chamber of Commerce @ http://business.lexrockchamber.com/contact
Stilt, nice take on Orwell's 'Animal Farm'.
ReplyDeleteToo bad the Red (like in commie) Hen Restaurant is 4 hours and 53 minutes from where I live or I would be tempted to go there for lunch. But on the other hand, I don't like spit and other body fluids in my soup. And, I would be in the news for making a complete berserker out of myself. (Look that one up :) )
It's a sad commentary on what our country's become when this kind of activity occurs. My dear sainted mother had a saying that would cover it. She would say "They're cutting off their nose to spite their face".
I am looking forward to the news media covering their bankruptcy the same as they're covering the non-service but I won't hold my breath.
Now she has a looney from obummer's time making noise that she violated an ethics clause by saying something on the Official Twitter account instead of her personal one.
ReplyDeleteThe relentless attacks on all things Trump by the left, supported by a media which no longer cares if their stories or pictures are factual and a cadre of washed up celebrities who wish to be relevant has gone beyond ridiculous. Even the mindless sheep in this country have to be seeing a glimmer of the hypocrisy.
ReplyDeleteIt is highly possible that this insanity is actually the death throes of the deep state criminals who have been comfortably running the show for so long now but are about to see their house of cards collapse.
That, or we are headed for civil war, in which case I will be glad I am on the side that owns all the guns.
@Regnad Kcin: That is precisely how Øbama would have handled similar (and did...). I respect the current administration more for not abusing their powers as The Øne did. SHS is a real lady, and a real diplomat.
ReplyDeleteI'm spamming everyone who posts about the two restaurants that don't want American diners:
ReplyDeleteThe Red Hen Restaurant in Lexington, VA phone number is 540-464-4401
And the phone number for the MXDC Cocina Mexicana is 202.393.1900
Sure would be a shame if both restaurants were to receive calls around their dinner hours, even if those calls were wrong numbers. Now it’s not right to be abusive, nor to repeatedly call their number. But one call each from one million people might possibly send them a message.
Of course, that’s not the Rove Republican way of doing things, so I surely must be ashamed for mentioning any such thing. Better to just Shrub it off and let them get away with it…
@Geoff King- Exactly. They are so Olbermann unhinged that even low information MSM consumers HAVE to be taking notice. This will be the most important mid-term of our lifes, IMHO. Until then, just keep digging you spittle-fling progs. China is only a few shovels full away.
ReplyDeleteMark Matis, (BTW, I love your last name) shame on you for posting the phone number of the Red Chicken Restaurant which is 540-464-4401. I am going to feel sooooo guilty every time I call them to make reservations and call back 8 minutes later to cancel. And I told all of my friends (well, both of them) to be sure not to call and harass them as well. So everybody, please do not call 540-464-4401 because they might start inserting bodily fluids in your soup.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your consideration.
540-464-4401540-464-4401540-464-4401540-464-4401540-464-4401540-464-4401540-464-4401540-464-4401
The owner should park a bus behind her establishment to provide special seating for all conservatives. The sign could read: Conservative seating in the bus of the back.
ReplyDeleteHow one treats others shows more insight into your character than probably anything else. Our good friends Maxi Waters and Al Sharpton have doubled down on this very despicable behavior but one could not expect less from these old politicians that advocate genocide of everyone they dislike. The good news is both are in God's waiting room and will soon account for their behavior. Stilt, that is an accurate synopsis of this event and as I have written before, maybe not eating there saved them from the intake of bodily fluids served by human debris. Hopefully, this hatefulness for any and all things associated with a very accomplished President will mellow out but I am an optimist. Actions have consequences and the law of unintended consequences is always the law of the land.
ReplyDeleteRed Hen to Sarah Sanders: "We don't serve your kind around here. Now, scram."
ReplyDeleteDemocrats next plan: Separate water fountains for Conservatives? Conservatives to the back of the bus? Separate schools?
Democrat Party history repeats itself.
@Mike aka Proof- I was trying to be fair by having both waitresses be potentially attractive.
ReplyDelete@Section147- Sanders is amazing. She responds to the idiotic press with strength and intelligence, and doesn't give in to the temptation to suddenly ream reporters out with a Don Rickles routine (which they richly deserve). And actually, I wouldn't mind her taking a more aggressive stance. She could give an award for "stupidest question of the day" at every briefing, and when a reporter collects the award for the third time they lose their press room credentials.
@Regnad Kcin- Sadly, that's not what you'd do if you were SHS, but is demonstrably what you'd do if you were Obama - who delighted in politically weaponizing agencies.
@Gee M- Great comments and exactly right! Trump has been very pro LGBT for years, but he's attacked (unlike Hillary and Barry) for not actively promoting the LGBT agenda by giving the White House rainbow lights. In fairness, he's spoken out clearly against transsexuals in the military, but there's solid justification - physical, mental, and emotional - for wanting to keep them from battlefield assignments. But he also stood at the RNC Convention and pledged support for Gays, which you'd think would score him some points. And for those that don't remember, the "deplorables" at the convention applauded that announcement. Not that any line cooks at the Red Hen were aware of it if they're getting their (ahem) "news" from Ellen DeGeneres.
@Fish Out of Water- Apparently the area when the Red Hen is located is an intense little hotspot of Lefties (as Hillary Clinton once told us, "It takes a village to support that many idiots"). And I'm delighted to see that other Lexington businesses are disavowing the Red Hen's actions, quite aware that the manager has made "Lexington" a dirty word for freedom lovers.
@Fred Ciampi- I'd like to visit the Red Hen while adorned in American Flag garb, then have a second party at my table bag and tag my food when its delivered and take it to a lab to look for deliberate contamination. Alternately, I might just take an emetic with me to swill halfway through the meal, then do a little projectile vomiting while moaning "not again!" in front of the other diners.
@AmyH- Sanders was officially White House spokesperson when this idiot denied her service, and even cited Sanders' official position as why the action was taken. Seems to me that merits an "official" response. And one which was truthful and tasteful, I might add.
@Geoff King- I certainly don't encourage or desire Civil War. Especially since I think that many on the Left would come around if not being force fed lies by the mainstream media. I prefer your other supposition that the degree of idiocy we're seeing may be the initial death throes of all this nonsense. Apparently today's crisis du jour is someone using the phrase "cotton picking" in reference to a black person, and the Left is going out of its mind.
@Emmentaler Limburger- Exactly. It's tempting to misuse the weapons we could deploy, but by doing so we'd lose the war.
ReplyDelete@Mark Matis- I'm not really in favor of spamming anyone, though I don't see a downside to calling to register calmly worded disagreement...even if it's done by a million people. Whether they like it or not, at the point the Red Hen's waiter tweeted about this incident (which otherwise would have gone unnoticed) on social media, he made it a public event. Let the chips fall where they may.
@TrickyRicky- I HOPE that the ridiculousness of all this is starting to be noticed by Lefties, but in my own limited experience I'm not seeing it. To my eye, they're still willing to get more and more angry with less and less provocation.
@Fred Ciampi- I've also seen that some people are calling that number and simply asking "Can I speak to Sarah?" I don't want to encourage that sort of thing, which is why I've made this comment as a warning.
@Boligat- If Sanders had stayed in the restaurant, would she be the new Rosa Parks? Just wondering...
@James Daily- Right you are, sir. To me, this situation (and all others) is covered by the Golden Rule: "Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You." Is that really so hard, people? All it requires is letting go of your self-satisfying hate.
@joe jetson- Exactly. And let us pause for a moment to give thanks that Hillary wasn't elected President, or we conservatives would already have to enter restaurants from the back and get our drinking water from a dirty bucket in the "conservative people" bathroom.
I forgot (probably old age).
ReplyDeleteWhat this Anti Trump rhetoric is about is the Supreme Court. President Trump will have TWO picks minimum and that will set this court for the next thirty years and will be the death knell of liberals. They have got to get rid of him at any cost and of course that is why the Republicans are in the tall grass because they, too, do not want a conservative court. So, the liberals are using a scorched earth policy to accomplish all they can to destroy this administration.
Well I certainly wouldn't advocate calling that number (540-464-4401, again that's 540-464-4401) and saying something like 'can I speak to Rosa Parks?...oh wait, never mind, you threw her off the bus' or asking if their segregated bathrooms are inside or outside the restaurant.
ReplyDeleteTelling half the country you don't want their patronage isn't a good business model. It's like when Jennifer Lawrence told Trump supporters that they shouldn't see her new movie, "Mother," and they took her at her word. Am guessing that the owners of the Red Hen will soon learn the foolishness of deliberately alienating a large portion of their customer base.
ReplyDeleteRep. Maxine Waters encouraged the Americans to "absolutely harass" White House officials while they are off duty and out in public spaces.
ReplyDeleteThe California Democrat told MSNBC, "These members of his Cabinet who remain and try to defend him, they're not going to be able to go to a restaurant, they're not going to be able to stop at a gas station, they're not going to be able to shop at a department store. The people are going to turn on them. They're going to protest. They're absolutely going to harass them until they decide that they're going to tell the president, 'No, I can't hang with you.' This is wrong. This is unconscionable."
She was referring to several instances where the public has already angrily confronted White House officials in public spaces over the administration's "zero tolerance" policy toward illegal immigrants, which led to the separation of parents from their children.
Is this in any way comparable to the situation of a baker unwilling to make a wedding cake for a gay couple? As usual the libtards snowflakes cry like little babies needing their poopie diapers changed when they feel discriminated against, but proudly are willing to do the same to those diametrically opposed to their liberal mantra.
ReplyDeleteAt least the baker has some conviction to not involve themself in something they deem immoral or against their religious belief. The snowflake libtards are just stupid, hate filled socialist-educated morons.
Stilton said, "All it requires is letting go of your self-satisfying hate."
ReplyDeleteVery true. Whether one believes in God or not, I heard an excellent comment yesterday morning by a visiting sky-pilot. He said, "To do good, one must love good MORE than they love their hate."
I think it's just terrible to call a phone number such as 540-464-4401, a entirely random number, and harass the person that answers. I personally favor the question, "Do you have Prince Albert in a can?" But then again, I am a terrible old man. I seem to remember Hubba, hubba, also, but that doesn't seem to fit the situation.
ReplyDelete540-464-4401
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Verizon Wireless. We're sorry. The number you have dialed has calling restrictions that have prevented the completion of your call.
Now, I wonder why they had to do that? Perhaps too many people getting the wrong number when ordering a bucket-o-chicken and realizing they did not reach KFC?
Can't cut hay, too much rain today.
Think I know you.
DeleteHow embarrassing this must have been for Sarah & her family and friends - - Imagine her hubby trying for days to get a reservation at the exclusive restaurant to treat Sarah, Family and friends. And then THIS happens!!
ReplyDeleteThey say they "threw her out" - She says she was asked to leave. Employees voted to not wait on her. I would have left, too.
I would consider it an honor to have waited on and served the likes of her and her family & friends. But - - what do I know, being a deplorable and all . . . . .
@Bobo: The baker's stance was that he refused service on the basis of his religious beliefs. Political beliefs of the restaurant owner apply here, not religious ones. Since the Supreme Court ruled in the 1960s under the Civil Rights act of 1964 that restaurants could not exclude blacks, then a good case might be made by Sanders on similar grounds. The Act explicitly prohibited restaurants from refusing service to patrons on the basis of race, color, religion, or national origin. In addition, most courts don’t allow restaurants to refuse service to patrons based on extremely arbitrary conditions. For example, a person likely can’t be refused service due to having a lazy eye.
ReplyDeleteDoes the subject of political beliefs fit in here? Trying to look into the minds of the Justices of SCOTUS, I might predict that Sanders' political beliefs might fall under the Civil Rights Act if Sanders opted to take the case to trial. I would also opt that Sanders might make a good case in the courts, but I doubt that she will. She has enough on her plate, what with fighting the so-called "journalists" in the leftist mainstream media and at press conferences who try to trap her with "gotcha" questions. She also has too much class---an admirable trait that leftists abandoned decades ago.
In any event, we will probably see more liberal hysteria in the future from pathological leftists. Sanders must have nerves of steel for having to joust with idiots from MSNBC, CNN, et. al., and the rest of us must have minds of kryptonite to have to endure more insane babbling from the likes of Maxine Waters.
Animal Farm. Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I still hear that there are lines around the block at Chick-Fil-A in NYC. And unlike the Red Hen, the supposedly intolerant Chick-Fil-A won't kick you out if they suspect you of being a Progressive. They just want to sell a chicken sandwich, and you to be happy with their product and service.
As for Ms. Sanders: Why do Progressives hate strong women?
The funny part is that this is not going to help the Democrat's case. They are now transparently and proudly the party of intolerance and hate. While they may be keeping their rabid base energized, they are doing nothing but offending the rest of America who had, and may still have doubts about President Trump, but no longer have absolutely any doubts about what the Democrats stand for.
In other words, "Want more Trump? Because this is how you get more Trump.
And now, this just in;
ReplyDelete(Drum roll please)
Red Hen Restaurant Voice Message (when dialing 540-464-4401) before they took it down on 6-24-2018 - Warning all Trump supporters or even people that "smell" like Trump supporters would get kicked out just like Sarah Sanders. The recording finished with "F*ck President Trump" - Time stamp of call is 4:11pm EST on 6-24-18 - This number, 540-464-4401, is posted on Red Hen Restaurant's website (Website Screenshot - https://imgur.com/a/rYnNlqM )
Now if you call this number there is a Verizon wireless recording saying that "this number has calling restrictions that has prevented the completion of your call"
Proof: This voice message was recorded with the Call Recorder app and you can view the screenshot of the recorded call here that shows the timestamp ---- https://imgur.com/a/kI2Kj3u
Remember people, if you call 540-464-4401 you will get that recording. I'm just curious about how many calls it would take to clog up Verizon's system. After all, Verizon is a big company and can handle a gazillion calls at once. But can they handle a gazillion and 12?
@James Daily- You're absolutely right that the Left is desperate to deny Trump any more Supreme Court picks. I'll also note that with this in mind, I'm suddenly thinking that "The Red Hen" would be a good nickname for Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
ReplyDelete@valvenator- Yes, I can't encourage people strongly enough not to call 540-464-4401. Neither should they make a carry out order if they don't plan to actually show up.
@jpb252- Hey, maybe their business will boom as elitist Lefties pile in to enjoy overpriced, undersized portions of food. If the Red Hen wants to screw liberals who have too much money, more power to them.
@Gee M- Would it be "absolutely harassing" Maxine Waters and her ilk at the gas station, store, or restaurant by spraying them with a fire hose? Asking for a friend.
@Bobo- The bakers' case is subtly but significantly different from this. The bakers offered to sell the gay couple any cake in the store, but refused to use their talents to make a CUSTOM cake voicing pro-gay positions which were antithetical to their religious beliefs. But the Red Hen simply denied service to people they hate; didn't matter what was on the menu, those damn Nazis couldn't have it, nor could they stay in the restaurant.
The bakers were acting on belief and principle (whether you agree with them or not) and the Red Hen was acting out of malign hate. But then, isn't that the root of most progressive action?
@American Cowboy- Exactly. I'm not a religious guy, but it seems to me that if one really adheres to the Golden Rule that it's hard not to live a life which would normally be thought to represent Christian values.
@Sandra Gray- I'm sure it was embarrassing for Ms. Sanders and her party, and it's to her enormous credit that she left quietly and did not make a scene (nor even acknowledge that the event had occurred until one of the a**holes at the restaurant tweeted about it and included a snarky picture).
@Alfonso Bedoya- I agree that Sanders has too much class and too many other important priorities to pursue this pipsqueak restaurant legally. This is exactly the sort of thing that a market economy can take care of; if enough people don't want to visit a restaurant whose theme is "hate," then the Red Hen will eventually go out of business...and probably a lot sooner than a case could reach the Supreme Court.
@John the Econ- Mrs. J and I just got back from lunch at Chick-Fil-A...it seemed like a nice quiet way of making a little statement today. It would be interesting to find out if they get a fiscal bump today. By the way, at the very clean, very friendly location we visited, no one asked my politics, my religion, or my stance on LGBT issues.
And I completely agree that the more ugly and hateful the Left gets (and apparently there aren't even theoretical limits to how low they can go) it only assures more Trump. And I'm fine with that.
@Fred Ciampi- I've got to admit that I think that "answering machine message" was faked. I saw the timestamped video and the phone number on the phone...but it would be extremely easy to drop in a new soundtrack with a fake message. Maybe I'm wrong, but it doesn't really matter: the Red Hen has already revealed who they are.
There's a report out there (unverified) that the owner of Red Hen staged a protest at the restaurant across the street where the Sanders party went after their expulsion. Probably not true but wouldn't surprise me. I personally feel the MSM is ginning up all this outrage at Trump and his supporters because that's what they do and shame on them for that. I personally hope this sort of behavior keeps up all summer so that it generates a red tsunami in November and the blue trickle goes down the drain where it belongs. I could use a fresh dose of life-enriching liberal tears on election night again.
ReplyDelete@ Stilton. You must have done some digging as I've not read yet anything regarding Lexington, Va distancing themselves from the Red Hen.
ReplyDelete@John-the-Econ: The actions of a political party that has evidently morphed into a group of rabid terrorists will guarantee their ultimate demise. Maxine Waters has given her followers a very graphic lesson in how to commit hara-kiri. It is only a matter of time before they collectively exsanguinate, and I won't be attending the funeral.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking entirely as a Libertarian, I do not wish to see the end of the Democratic Party. Our current Duopoly system is bad enough. Were we to only have one choice, you could kiss our Republic goodbye. We need more choices, not less.
ReplyDeleteWith luck, the current situation will be a wake up call, not only for the citizens of this country, but for both major parties as well.
@Alphonso Bedoya: Not so fast! Remember this: Homeowner refuses to sell to a Trump supporter. As I recall the redux from THAT episode: religion, rage, derangement regarding your gender and the like are protected classes under the Fir Housing Act. Political leanings: not so much.
ReplyDelete(That was "race"; not "rage". I think "rage" is a protected class. At least for leftists...)
ReplyDeleteIt's Crazy town this month....Aunty Nancy told crazy Granny Maxi to cool it...what people bin sayin'....crazy makes for Trump votes...made it's way into the Pelosi noggin. What Granny Brainfart shared with the world is unacceptable, says Aunty Nan. Ya think? No worries...
ReplyDeleteTom Arnold has "TRUMPED" ex- wife Rosanne and has unveiled his intention to stalk Barron and his Mom when she takes him to school and he intends to have words with her...his avowed plan is to make The 12 year old "afraid" and "uncomfortable: not only Barron but the children of Ivanka, Don jr, and he mentioned other admin children; along with fellow Baby Bully Judd Apatow as well...I hope somea those Right Wingnuts find that so offensive they show up too and do the job that Secret Service won't do.
Eight years of takin' crap from the Dem admin, this is more than bearable...or maybe the Secret Service will bring their "A" game at last.
Don't they have those cute Uzis?
(just sayin')
A friend of mine has come up with an interesting suggestion: go to the Red Hen with a large party, order lots of expensive food and dessert. Just before (or maybe just as) the dessert is served, take out of your pocket and put on a MAGA hat, which you had hidden. Will you get thrown out of the restaurant without having to pay? Worth a try, I say!
ReplyDeleteSanders did the right thing by leaving with class. Any restaurateur with such priorities who is incapable of ordering her thoughts into a semblance of rational hierarchy cannot be trusted with providing meals for other people. As for the mob-stalking behaviors as the party headed across the street, I'm sure there are laws that handle this sort of thing, if Sanders were to pursue them, which I am inclined to believe, she would not.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the loan officer at the local bank is thinking right about now, besides reshuffling his default-risk rankings as they concern his commercial clients. Similarly, the other members of the Chamber of Commerce in this small town must really be thrilled about these carpet-bagging transplants to their community, and in awe-filled wonder at the business acumen of the woman who just halved her prospective clientele for an eternity and re-cast their town's image for them. I can see each of them measuring a rope right about now.....
@Shelly- I've seen that report (that the manager formed a group and harassed the diners when they went elsewhere) but I don't know if it's true. Lots of places are saying it, but I haven't seen it confirmed on any legit sites. Who the heck knows anymore?
ReplyDeleteThe Lefties (which most certainly includes the media) are ginning up not just a climate of hatred but a climate of violence. Nothing good can come of it, apart from (depending on your perspective) more Trump.
@Fish Out of Water- I don't think it was all of Lexington, VA coming out against the Red Hen, but rather the small tourist-friendly (?) enclave which the Red Hen is in. "Lexington Main Street" or something like that. But yes, that association tweeted sentiments disavowing and rebuking the Red Hen management.
@Alfonso Bedoya- I'm surprised Maxine Waters, in her colossal ignorance, isn't calling for police dogs and fire hoses to be set on those she hates. History is not on her side.
@Geoff King- I couldn't agree more. Both the Republican and Democrat parties deserve to be in the same handbasket being Fed-exed to Hell. If nothing else, having more choices might help diffuse the current "us against them" mindset.
@Emmentaler Limburger- You're right, it's perfectly legal to discriminate against someone because of their political beliefs. Which may actually come in handy: next time a Christian baker doesn't want to make a cake for a gay wedding, they can just ask the customer "are you a Trump supporter?" If not, they can throw the customers to the curb. I'm not sure the Left has thought this through...
@Gee M- I'd like to see the Secret Service up their game and start prosecuting some of these jerks who are making threats and encouraging violence in others. Oh sure, the Left will scream about Gestapo tactics...but then, they would anyway.
@JustaJeepGuy- I like it! And the timing of donning (no pun intended) the hat makes sense- no need to have the kitchen staff hocking loogies into your coq au vin.
@Aggie- Other merchants in the little district the Red Hen shares are not happy. And I'd like them to show their displeasure by refusing to do business with anyone from the Red Hen. Seems fair to me.
@Anonymous- But truly, can anyone ever really know anyone else?
Stilton, the report was confirmed by Sarah's father, Mike Huckabee, on the Laura Ingraham Show. He reported that Sarah and her husband went home right after the expulsion as they'd had enough but the rest of the party, which were her in-laws, were harassed at the other restaurant. The oh-so-pure and sweet owner of the Red Hen organized the protest and did what lefties do - act obnoxious. Eventually, one of the in-laws addressed the protest and told them that Sarah wasn't there and he didn't even like Trump. So they showed their true colors for nothing. The press has tried to turn the Red Hen owner into a saint. She is anything but.
ReplyDelete@Shelly- Okay, I've seen the story confirmed elsewhere now and I believe it. And this really changes things. You can almost hold your nose and acknowledge the right of a businessperson to reject service to someone in an unprotected class, but to follow them off your property and continue to harass them is a criminal nuisance and disturbance of the peace at the very least, and Little Miss Red Hen should have had her ass hauled to the pokey.
ReplyDeleteOne of the regrets of where we now live is that the nearest Chick-Fil-A is about 3 hours away. May have to drive up and have one just on principle.
ReplyDelete@Alfonso Bedoya & @Gee M, is it possible that greedy Maxine is on Trump's payroll? That would be the logical explanation for her behavior. There's not a lot of logic in Maxine's life, beyond the fact that her political career has paid off for her far better than any honest work she might have been able to sustain would have.
@Geoff King, as a fellow Libertarian I agree wholeheartedly. We need more real "diversity" in our body politic than this bi-polarism we've arrived at today. Although I certainly am enjoying the self-destruction of the Democratic Party that I predicted back during the first Clinton era, the notion of being left with what passes for Republicanism is not a happy thought.
But I've long predicted that we are on the cusp of a massive political re-alignment due to certain social, economic, and technological changes over the last few decades. People who long assumed themselves to unquestionably simpatico with the current major parties are already questioning their allegiance. This is the beginning of the end of the current duopoly.
Unrelated, yet related to what I said above: Big news yesterday regarding the Progressive War on the Middle Class:
California judge tosses global warming lawsuit against oil companies
The political agenda behind "Climate Change" (formerly known as "global warming") is to assert total control over the middle class, by declaring everything they do as somehow detrimental to the environment, and therefore the justification of micro-regulating your life. It's also a shakedown racket, to extract even more money out of people to further the Progressive political machine.
In California, several jurisdictions were suing numerous oil companies, because their product causes "climate change", and therefore harms the state. Of course, the real agenda was to extract billions of dollars of additional taxes out of these companies, that ultimately would be paid by consumers. It's just another way to tax in a non-transparent manner.
The case was just tossed.
The law of unintended consequences is alive and well:
ReplyDeleteThe Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Virginia will remain closed until July 5 in the wake of continued controversy over the owner and staff kicking White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders out after she and her family had been seated for dinner Friday night, Fox News reported Tuesday night.
(Bye the bye: Red Hen is very apropos)
Who would ever trust the owner and the waitstaff at the Red Hen again. From now on, there is always a risk of them spitting in your food or worse if they didn't like your political beliefs. YUCK! Who would ever want to eat there again?
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in Chicago, this big shot lawyer who worked for Kirkland & Ellis would go into the Standard Club on S. Plymouth Ct. for lunch. The waiters were all Mexicans. They hated the guy so much they would spit in his soup.
