The Hole Truth

Frankly, we're not really enthusiastic about "trial by yearbook," but since Democrat presidential wannabees like Kamala Harris and Cory Booker put such a high value on this kind of "evidence" during the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, we're willing to reach across the aisle and accept their notion that decades-old embarrassments can appropriately be used to destroy lives and political careers.

In this case, we're talking about Virginia's Democrat Governor (and baby murder enthusiast) Ralph Northam and the strange case of a photo on his college yearbook page which apparently shows him wearing blackface or a Ku Klux Klan robe. Northam apologized for the photo and the hurtfulness of his actions, and claimed he couldn't recall whether he was the person in the photo portraying Al Jolson or the one impersonating former Democrat Senator (and Klan official) Robert Byrd.

Northam later "clarified" that he was neither person, had nothing to apologize for other than his previous apology, and had never ever ever appeared in blackface except for the one time he literally rubbed Shinola on his face to imitate Michael Jackson for a dance contest. No, really. And when reporters asked about it, he offered to prove his case by doing the moonwalk but was stopped by his wife. Which, in our book, is a damn shame.

And as long as we're linking the late term abortion-happy Virginia Governor and Groundhog Day...

Okay, we honestly hope that Justice Ginsburg gets well soon. But this gag, suggested by our erudite friend John F. Di Leo, was just too good not to share.

  2. Don't most people deny it's them and later, when evidence proves contrary, THEN they admit it was them?

  3. So, it all boils down to the fact that Gov. Northam doesn't know shit from shinola....

  7. From Bob & Ray:

Here is a supplementary bulletin from the Office of Fluctuation Control, Bureau of Edible Condiments, Soluble and Indigestible Fats and Glutinous Derivatives, Washington, D.C.:

Correction of Directive #943456201, issued a while back concerning the fixed price of groundhog meat. In the directive above named, the quotation on groundhog meat should read “ground hogmeat.”

  8. Thankfully for us, here in Virginia Republicans control both houses. Yay. Perhaps Virginia can once again split into two states; The overpopulated Atlantic coast and the rest of us. We could call it East Virginia and Virginia.

And anything I would say about the abortion issue would be considered inciting.

  9. Again, it boggles the mind that one should be held responsible for what one's ancestors did. They want to hold the Gov responsible for his ancestors being slave owners as if he could do anything about it or had any input in it. Then the pictures were taken in a different time and a different society so the school wants to dig up why that was possible that the school could be so politically incorrect years ago. Will this ever end? Nope, Pandora is out of the box and will remain out forever.

  10. It says a lot about Democrats that they're more upset about Governor Northams's 35-year old yearbook photo than his current advocacy of infanticide.

Have to admit to experiencing a bit of schadenfreude, however. When they started going after people for youthful indiscretions decades in the past, did they really think it wouldn't come back to bite them?

Exactly, Fish. That's why I'm calling him gone by COB today, the 4th of Feb, especially since the election official in Florida resigned for much the same reasons last week.

  13. @ Fred: "Thankfully for us, here in Virginia Republicans control both houses. "

For the moment, and just barely. With the increasing creeping urbanization and bluing oozing out westward and southward from Northern Virginia, it seems a matter of time before at least The House of Delegates is turned permanently blue.

It was eye-opening to take a trip back from Kentucky, bypassing the Robber Baron State of West Virginia, and head directly into Virginia. What struck me was the southwestern part of the Commonwealth has about as much in common with Northern Virginia as I do with a rock on Mars. So why continue living the lie, the farce? Better to realize the twain isn't going to meet and part amicably.

  15. @Fred: Didn't realize Fred Allen is still a player. You all in SW Va do have your own pocket of blue: the city of Lexington/the Red Hen.

  20. Trial by Yearbook: Well, this is the Pandora's Box the Democrats opened up last summer. And I have every expectation that it's going to be far more harsh on Democrats than their hopes that it would be on Republicans. It will be worse on Democrats because their hubris combined with the Taranto Principle that let's them assume that they are the moral ones and the rest of us are the greedy racists. This is repeatedly proven wrong.

I'm seeing a new cottage industry of political operatives scouring rummage and estate sales as they build libraries of old high school and college yearbooks for oppo research.

But in another decade or so this will be totally unnecessary as social media and the stupid crap that kids mindlessly post to it will do the job for them.

As for Northam: The more conspiracy minded are thinking that this was long known by many, and has only been released now because they realize that this abortion at birth movement is ultimately going to hurt Democrats come 2020. Even those who aren't evangelical about abortion but aren't against it either may start to feel a bit squeamish at the notion of legalizing a Gosnell-level abortion industry.

Of course, there's the other assumption that Northam will survive this simply because he is a Democrat and therefore gets to live down to a different standard than any Republican would have to. After all, if the Democratic Party had ever had to purge all these guys, there'd be no Democratic Party today.

Where in the world is the notorious RBG?: Also starting to generate conspiracy theories is the current health status of RBG. The Democrats know that for her replacement Trump will be nominating someone for whom the #MeToo character assassination tactic used on Kavanaugh will not work. Plus, the smarter Democrats know that the Kavanaugh circus did not help them in the midterms. So is it possible that they can pull a Weekend at Bernie's act for the next year-and-a-half in hope of unseating Trump in 2020?

  22. Super-Bore: Yawn. No surprise that was a Super Bowl with the lowest ratings in a decade. At least in years past the adverts were at least as entertaining as the game. But now that advertisers are now more interested in virtue signalling than entertaining, they've even ruined that.

Years ago, I was shocked that anyone would think to revive The Handmaids Tale, the 1980s Progressive paranoia porn built upon the premise that the Reagan era would lead to a right-wing religious theocracy in an age where there is an actual religious-fascist theocracy that rising that the left ironically cheers. To rub that irony-unawareness in, we got an ad that mimics Reagan's famous "Morning in America" ad to promote the next season. It's stuff like this that almost makes me cheer for the Islamic invasion.

"Spiked Seltzer"? Mrs. Econ was convinced that this was some kind of joke product. Nope.

And seriously, do people who drink Budweiser really give a **** that their beer is brewed with wind power?

But I do like the idea that vegans got tweaked by the Hyundai ad that put down "Beet Loaf".

I miss the dot-com era, that had the best ads ever.

    ReplyDelete
  23. @John the Econ: You've touched on one reason why I too chose to skip watching the game. Sports were and should be a venue in which all of us, be we on the right or left, can come together and scream our lungs out, jump up in down in rage or joy for the team we love.

Having the NFL bungle and destroy this sanctuary with Colin Kaepernick (who I now wonder if he has regrets about listening to the Lady MacBeth-like woman he fell for) opened the door to social/political intrusion into what should be just fun. Prior to the game, saw headlines for the preachy Budweiser ad and that our version of Pravda (aka the WaPo) had bought time to preach and remind all to 'resist' and that pretty much nailed it.

The other reason was one of the teams that played last night had no business being there.

As to my governor (well not really) Northam, remember that the laughably labeled 'Lion of the Senate' survived Chappaquiddick, so might not Northam survive too?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I quit "pro" sports years ago. Now the nfl is getting up speed to follow nascar into irrelevance and obscurity. I heard the family of the late Bill France has said nascar might be for sale. Now that they have sucked the life out of it, maybe there's value in the bones and hide.

Totally off topic, yesterday was the 60th anniversary of the deaths of Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper. I miss their tunes and the promise they had, but never realized.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @John the Econ: Exact same thought popped into my head. I'm wondering if Kathy Tran is seen as some sort of rising star - enough so that they are willing to sacrifice a governorship to get her name out of the news? Or they both now cannon fodder in order to divert attention from the backlash from the vile, evil platform they exposed?

I, too, stopped paying attention to the super blah when they failed to do step in and secure their workplace from Kaepernick's asinine "protest". As I mentioned to a family member: "If I wanted to enrich a bunch of overpaid people who hate the country that made them rich, I'd simply make a donation to the DNC."

    ReplyDelete
  26. @Limburger: If you haven't heard already, Delegate Tran is a freshman delegate and my bets are on her being a one and done delegate.

  27. @Fish Out of Water, amen! Sports were one of the last refuges where everyone regardless of their political standing or station in life could enjoy collectively. When you go to a game or watch in a bar or with family, etc, nobody cares what the guy next to them thinks about the border or abortion or whatever. And now Progressivism is destroying even that. And I don't think that is by accident. The need a divided America, and everywhere and everything in America divided. If they could destroy the NFL, what can't they destroy?

The NFL should have just ignored Colin Kaepernick. But my guess is that the Networks wouldn't let them. In not doing so, they've started to destroy their golden goose.

Speaking of, I didn't mention the big self-serving NFL plug about their player's noble quest for "social justice". Quite frankly, if these guys really want to be taken seriously in the realm of "social justice", I think they ought to be cleaning up their own house before they go off lecturing anyone else on cleaning up theirs.

Yeah, that Washington Post Democracy Dies in Darkness ad was pretty thick. I didn't see a lot of real "journalists" depicted there. Goebbels was conspicuously absent in that grouping. Also I might note that The Post is included in the lawsuit from Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann. So expect an ongoing media blitz in the near future about how sacrosanct these purveyors of fake news are to democracy, and that an occasional smearing of innocent high school kids for "facecrimes" is but a small price to pay for the valuable service these propagandists are doing to secure the Progressive agenda.

  28. John the E - I agree about the 'dot com' era superbowl ads... the one where the geek is digging His Own Cube, and sniffs the ink on his business card, for Monster...
"What the hell was THAT selling?" was roundly heard from 'establishment types'.... A Better JOB was the resounding response from overworked geeks everywhere..
And the 'running of the squirrels' (for EDS!! if I recall) was one of the funniest commercial EVAH...
Agreed, the way they handled KnappyDick and the Neelers has pissed EVERYONE off - patriots and SJWs both, though for opposite reasons. Ergo the toxic quality of the 1/2 time show. NO one wanted it, and they had to settle for the profanity laden shit shit we got. As for the game itself, I enjoyed it, seemed to me to have more drama than the blowouts of two decades ago.
As for who should / not have been there, had it not been for an over eager Chief jumping the gun and getting the interception called back, Brady would have been watching, not playing...

    ReplyDelete
  29. @Pete (Detroit), I have to disagree. The funniest/best commercial EVAH was herding cats (also EDS, I believe).

This year, not even the Clydesdales were memorable. How can they mess up Clydesdales?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I LOVED herding cats!

Of course, as a group, the Budweiser ads were so funny...the hamster providing New York's emergency power, the streaking sheep, the donkey wanting to be a Clydesdale...
Don't forget the one time played only tribute to the Twin Towers; 10 years later an almost perfect remake off it...so very cool.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1qEZHhJubY

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x77E5Y7honM

This year Budweiser sucked with their woke commercial... but they had a mixed one with their Bud knight getting his head crushed by a muted Gregor and the King and his retinue burnwd up by one of Khalises' dragons... then an "ad" for GOT coming this fall. THAT was well done...!

  31. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fhOItB0zUM

extended Bud x GOT ad...only funny if you watch GOT!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yes, the herding cats. Commercials that were so great that we still remember them nearly two decades later. I also remember a post-dot-com-crash E-Trade commercial with the monkey with a tear in his eye as silly dot-com era Silicon Valley businesses were being tended to by a wrecking ball.

But how can you mess up even the Clydesdales? Employ them in eco-virtue signalling, happily trotting through a valley of windmills. Progressivism ruins absolutely everything it touches.

But the Bud Light/Game of Thrones ad really was our favorite.

I've got my lucky loin cloth, I don't have the plague anymore..."

    lol.

Only someone who'd watched Tyrion's trial by combat knew why it was so funny...millions musta wondered what it all meant...they shoulda watched GOT!

I fervently hope I never hear "Gilly Gilly." again.

  35. @Readers- Well, there I go again - reading and enjoying all of YOUR comments, but not chiming in with any of my own. Nothing big keeping me from the keyboard, though what I laughingly call "Stilton's Palsy" hasn't helped. I'm now on anti-epilepsy medication, which so far isn't doing much to keep me from looking like I'm trying to pretend there's not a ferret living in my Fruit of the Looms and biting my naughty bits. Mind you, I'm not in any pain - but the sudden spastic jerks aren't a good look (Mrs. J officially confirms this).

Trump's SOTU will be starting in a couple of minutes. Not sure if I have the gumption to watch. Pardon me while I flip a coin (grin).
