As the saying goes, "those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." And so, hoping to instill some sense of the past to the airheads currently running rampant in America, we present...

I've never understood how the Nazis couldn't find where Anne Frank was hiding. I mean, if you go to Amsterdam... There are signs pointing to her house everywhere.
ReplyDeleteToo soon?
Well put strip today. Have not and will not watch or read anything related to the on-going kangaroo court/Star Chamber/Washington Show trial. But I wonder, if the loudest of the braying mob really goes out of their bubble, feels comfortable in doing so?
ReplyDeleteWould for example, Jamie Raskin, Schumer, anyone of the 'squad', dare venture out say 100 miles or so west, south or north of The Swamp, for fear of being recognized and perhaps the reception they might get.
In other words, are these "progressives " building their on prisons so to speak?
Watched over three hours yesterday and came to the conclusion that Trump’s defense team is using the “Bore “Em to Death” strategy”. And I always thought Watergate was boring!
ReplyDeleteI am so re-posting the Lefty Lucy strip. It's so accurate that it is scary.
ReplyDeleteDear Stilt,
ReplyDeleteI hope your recovery is going well and that the Clan McGregor is holding out. For medicinal purposes only of course.
I've made this comment before but feel it is worth revisiting. I am not going to vaccinate against Covid (and I know you disagree with this). What I see coming in the future is a time where people will be required to show a "Covid Vaccinated" card to do many things such as fly, attend a sporting event, go to Disneyland or maybe even travel at all. That's OK with me. Flying is a horrible experience these days, who the hell can afford to go a sporting event and then pay $10.00 for a beer and $8.00 for a hot dog, and I wouldn't go to Disneyland if they paid me anyways. I also think we will see a day when non-vaccinated people will be hounded and may need to hide in someone's attic. As I alluded to in an earlier post, maybe we will be required to sew a large coronavirus patch on our clothes.
The coronavirus pandemic while being real, has been weaponized politically by the left and will be used by the left to further restrict the constitutional rights of American citizens.
@M. Mitchell Marmel: Superb observation! But George Santayana had the answer for it...
ReplyDelete@Fish Out of Water: LOVE your new avatar cartoon!
Oh Lucy. Your lot is not going to fare well should things get to that point. Those without hard skills to barter with are going to find their options to avoid starvation rather limited. If I was you, I'd be working on perfecting my domestic skills and not aging.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's probably not enough just to download 8 years of Hope n' Change Cartoons and 4 years of Stilton's Place. I'd probably print them out on acid-free paper.
Speaking of Anne Frank's house:
Anne Frank House banned Orthodox Jewish employee from wearing his skullcap at work
Barry Vingerling, 25, must wear his skullcap or yarmulke as an Orthodox Jew
On first day of work at Anne Frank House in Amsterdam he was told he couldn't
Museum said it might 'might endanger the neutrality' of the foundation
He had to apply for formal permission from higher-ups to wear it at work.
Can't make this stuff up.
Oh, and then this:
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN BUSTED FOR DWI
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... the Boss was arrested on November 14 at Gateway National Recreation Area in Sandy Hook, NJ. Springsteen was cited for DWI, reckless driving and consuming alcohol in a closed area. He'll have a court appearance coming in the next few weeks.
You're deplorable, but he's just a rich, sad, lonely drunk.
@Stilton,
ReplyDeleteYou're not very good at this "staycation" thing, are you? That being said, thanks for posting!! I hope your to do list is rapidly dwindling.
The nail has once again been smacked by the proverbial Stilton hammer. My parents were members of The Greatest Generation, so I grew up hearing the stories about life in the Forties (both in the USA and South Pacific). We actually had neighbors who had serial numbers tattooed on their arms. My generation got to experience the boom that happened in the Fifties and Sixties as a result of the Greatest Generation's efforts. Young people now don't have a friggin clue what REAL fascism is like. They don't have a clue what it means to sacrifice to the point of risking death so your kids can live in freedom. The schools have mostly eliminated history classes, so now we're in a "Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it" phase.
I pray that a return to sanity happens soon!
@Fish,
I just had this glorious image pop into my head of AOC suddenly being transported to a branding on a Wyoming ranch. Or imagine Biden finding himself suddenly in the living room of a family who just lost their Keystone Pipeline income. These DC turds would NEVER risk associating with us deplorables, lest they have to explain their actions to someone besides CNN.
@ Colby: Yes, that's the point. Given how far out on the leftist limb they've gone, once outside their 'cocoon's' I could imagine them being faced with some very awkward or even hostile (like being denied service) situations. come to think of it , as "civil" as some restaurants and the like were to those in the Trump Administration, perhaps the 'favor" can be returned to all associated with the Obama sock puppet administration.
ReplyDelete@Fish: The Left seemed to be rather good at locating members of the Trump administration when they went out in public. Can a similar service be provided for the Worst Electoral Mistake Mark III's administration?
ReplyDelete@Edam: Exactly.
ReplyDeleteAdmitting to all that one is actually conservative
ReplyDeleteshould be know as "coming out of the attic"
@M. Mitchell Marmel- "Funny" outweighs too soon.
ReplyDelete@Fish Out of Water- I'm all for the fences and razor wire around Washington. All we need now is for the National Guard to stand on the other side of the fence and keep the politicians in.
@Bobo the Hobo- I can't and won't watch the hearings. It turns out I'm all out of patience (and coping ability) with this bullsh*t. And I wasn't happy to hear that Trump's legal team made meandering, pointless opening statements. Screw the lot of 'em!
@TrickyRicky- Re-post with my appreciation! We frequently bemoan the fact that Leftists don't seem to be aware of the many literary warnings of fascism and dystopia, but it struck me that if they were forced to read the classics, they still wouldn't get it. Which is why I genuinely have some fear about the Left's demonization of folks like us - history tells us that "regular people" won't do much to protect alleged "monsters."
@Gonzo'57- We gently disagree on the vaccine, but I have real worries about it. Not so much from a "microchips in the blood" standpoint as a "this untested stuff will eventually kill you" concern. And like you, I don't have any plans to attend public events or fly anywhere in the next forever or so. And I completely agree that our very real pandemic has been turned into a political cudgel.
@Pat Cummings- Yeah, what you said!
@John the Econ- Yes, Lucy and her ilk need to develop hard skills. Which reminds me, how much bartering will the skills of a geriatric humorist allow? (Gulp)
Good stories about the Anne Frank house and Bruce Springsteen (whose song about Anne Frank, "Born To Hide," never really gained popularity except in Germany and a few small pockets in Argentina).
@Colby Muenster- Oh, I'm not TOO bad at the staycation thing. I posted short (but hopefully sweet) cartoons for the whole week last Sunday, allowing me to sit on my ass as much as I like while avoiding the news almost completely.
Great points about the second-hand experience handed down to us from the Greatest Generation. Their values and struggles have been ingrained in our DNA, and it pains me to see the lessons lost on the young and young-ish these days. They can't seem to get it through their heads that "history" isn't a different reality from "now" - it's all on a continuum, and what has happened before can damn sure happen again.
And I like the idea that the worst of the Washington elites may never be able to mingle with the great unwashed again. Sort of a win-win to both sides, I'm guessing.
@Fish Out of Water- I believe the protocol favored by Maxine Waters should be applied to lefty politicians: if you see them, confront them. At a gas station, restaurant, or wherever. "Get up in their faces" and let them know that they and their kind aren't welcome. I'm absolutely against violence, but screaming at them until they go deaf is still okay in my book.
@Edam Wensleydale- Damn, I just had a great idea! A service is created to track the trouble-making members of this new administration, and the service is called (wait for it!) DOXhund, with a feisty-looking dachshund mascot. IT...COULD...WORK!
@DougM- Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteStilt,
ReplyDeleteWell it isss your joke
Not watching the impeachment circus, just as I did not watch the previous ones. I've got better things to do.
ReplyDeleteColby Muenster said "Young people now don't have a friggin clue what REAL fascism is like. "Fascism" is just an insult they've learned to project at people for which they are incapable of arguing against. The word has become meaningless. For example, they don't realize that today China is not a communist country, but a textbook example of a fascist one. If you say that to any of these kids, you will get nothing more than a blank stare.
I've known people who survived the camps. I've also known people who had liberated them. The experience changed them. Kids today think mean words are just as bad. Life is going to be very hard for them soon if they don't wake up.
Only a few short years before I came of age, teenagers without a well-defined path into higher education faced the very real threat of being drafted and sent into the jungle. I wonder what things would be like today if that was still a possibility for those between the ages of 18 & 25. Just for the sake of trolling, I occasionally throw out the idea that
if we really want to prevent the "climate crisis", we're going to have to stand up militarily against China, India and others, and to do so we're going to have to build up our infantry. That might make some of our likely-to-be-permanent adolescents grow up quickly.
All of a sudden, fences & razor wire are okay: IMHO, the founders should have put something in the Constitution about there never being any barriers between our supposed leaders and the people. If there is that much of a threat from the people, then that means they've been doing something wrong.
...how much bartering will the skills of a geriatric humorist allow?: You have every right to be concerned. Genuine humor is currently being eradicated, and I don't think the future for those who are genuinely humorous on our current trajectory is particularly bright.
But seriously, to make this circle complete: One thing not taught in school is that the historically unprecedented comfortable world we live in today was made possible by cheap, reliable energy. In the pre-industrial world, survival and economic success was largely the product of physical strength. In this environment, women were in a position where their primary roles in society was largely relegated to positions that did not require dominating physical acumen. Women's suffrage simply wasn't possible until the advent of cheap, reliable energy that liberated both men and women from the common drudgery that was the reality for 99% of the population. Should the "green new deal" and the anti-carbon agenda succeed in destroying common access to cheap, reliable energy, ultimately social roles will revert as physical drudgery will return as a neccesary aspect of survival. This will put women (as well as the beta-soy-boys) at a distinct social and economic disadvantage. Not only will the status of women revert to pre-industrial norms, women again be forced to make themselves attractive to alpha males for survival.
That's what I'm talking about, Lucy. You prepared for that?
@Gonzo 57- Your last sentence is 100% correct. I pity those who imitate the attitude of Neville Chamberlain and seem to prefer to believe the "best" of the enemy.
ReplyDeleteThey either have chosen to forget history, or never lived through it. As such it will be in large part their present "go along to get along" beliefs that will bring this country to the edge of t he cliff. The only question is, will anyone get out of their comfort zones and get a little "blood in the game"?
I am not in any way advocating violence, but no argument is ever won by the complacent.

ReplyDeleteWas watching our local news and snow forecast on the NBC affiliate when the news turned to the 'Capital Insurrection ' as this affiliate continually calls it, and then aired newly released video footage. I then remembered the was laundry in the washing machine that I had forgotten about, so I got up and left the room sparing myself an unhealthy rise in blood pressure.
ReplyDeleteBut with the neo-fascists pulling this out again and again reminds me of the mentality of a small child who seeking refuge with a parent, blubbers, 'They made me cry'.
And so to insurrection, the enemedia and the neo-fascists wouldn't recognize one it it danced naked with a red fez, in front of them
And for everything that happens there is a reason why it happened, and the lack of reflection on this by the neo-fascists and their enemedia running dogs is striking.
ReplyDeleteWere I ever in DC and had a chance to confront any of the Demo_Rats calling Jan. 6 an "insurrection", I'd ask: "If it was an insurrection, how are you still here?" They would have all been frog-marched out to answer for their crimes had there been a REAL insurrection!
Jeep - HELLS YEAH!!
ReplyDeleteFish - You betchya!
John the Econ, spot on as always. And Lucy is welcome to do dishes and floors at my place - I have marketable skills - I can cook, professionally, and brew beer. Probably even rig a still, w/o too much difficulty...
She'll likely need a mask, forever, to hide the ball that makes her presence tolerable..
DL'd both compilations, look forward to re-visiting, tho I came in pretty early, iirc (do NOT recall how I tripped over you, but SO glad I did!)
I do kinda miss the bear greifing on the cow, and the ducks... and the coffee couple, and...
@Pete: Maybe Stilton could release a DIY "Hope and Change" kit with the clip art, fonts and so forth so that readers could "roll their own"? ;-)
ReplyDelete@M. Mitchell Marmel, I think that's a brilliant idea. I'd love a "Lefty Lucy" app, where'd you choose the expressions and then fill in the balloons. That would keep me amused for quite some time.
ReplyDeleteThis just in: Biden has a phone call with China's Xi Jinping, and then tells us that "If the US doesn't get moving, China will eat our lunch."
Um, isn't that basically what Trump was telling us 5 years ago? Or is the difference that Trump's relatives weren't getting money funneled to them?
Random thought: It's zero degrees outside as I write this, and the wind is blowing between 14 and 20 mph, bringing the wind chill down do around -20. And yet my wife and I are comfortably ensconced in our humble abode going about our morning routines. That certainly would not be the case if it were not for our reliable electrical and natural gas service. The solar panels on my neighbor's roof across the street have several inches of snow on them, so I'm pretty sure they're relying on the same electricity and natural gas that I am for their comfort. I wonder how long this comfortable state will continue to exist.

AMERICAN NEWS
'The Mandalorian' star Gina Carano fired from Lucasfilm after fallout over social media post
Gina Carano has reportedly been fired from the Star Wars show "The Mandalorian" after sharing a controversial social media post... The now deleted Instagram story showed a picture of a Jewish woman being persecuted by Nazis and had the following accompanying text.
"Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors … even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views."
It was argued that the offending post was antisemitic, but that's ironically ignorant in that there's nothing antisemitic about it at all. But it is an excellent point regarding the current state of the body politic in America, and that's clearly what our Progressive betters were worried about.
We're not subscribers to Disney+, but I think I'm going to call and cancel today anyway.
Speaking of fuel, gasoline, its been creeping up my way. Pre stolen election a gallon of regular was $1.94 ish(Costco). Now its %2.23.
ReplyDelete@Fish, it's $2.45 now, my wifely unit expects it to go to $5.00/gallon.
ReplyDelete@Readers- Fine points above! Interesting to think about a DIY kit for cartoons featuring some of our regular characters. I'm not quite sure how that would work, but will think further on it. And I, too, miss the simple days of the retro, black and white line-art characters. It seemed like adding color helped build the blog's numbers (not that they've ever been sky high), but the simplicity still appeals to me. Chicken Boy, The Coffee Couple, The Breakfast Kids, Bear and Cow, and all the rest.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I need to pull those guys out of the mothballs now that we're in Obama's third term...
@Stilt: I was inspired by the Red Meat Construction Set:
