Joe Biden's CDC has acted quickly and decisively to prevent a possible nationwide outbreak of optimism about our odds of surviving Covid-19.
Oh sure, there are millions of vaccinations being given every day, 73% of seniors (the most vulnerable population) have had at least one injection, and new studies are showing that even a single injection may be 80% effective at preventing serious illness. Statistics which could easily lull the simple-minded into having a sense of hope.
But in a highly emotional briefing on Monday, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the highly emotional CDC chief, choked back tears while describing her feelings of "impending doom." Because damn it, that's the kind of useful, pragmatic advice that America expects from a powerful, highly-paid government official of the female persuasion! And if she happens to sense "impending doom" at about this time every month, well, who are we to judge? After all, you can't spell "premonitions" without PMS.
Mind you, there are legitimate reasons to worry about how Covid variants will affect the efficacy of the current generation of vaccines, but that hardly seems a reason to cast a thick cloud of gloom over everyone. Unless optimism really is the scourge that the Biden administration is trying to eliminate. Which makes sense - after all, when people become less worried about the pandemic, they may be more inclined to ask uncomfortable questions about all the money and power grabs the Democrats are making in the name of a Covid-19 wildfire.
For the record, the pandemic isn't over and common sense (remember that?) safety measures should still be used. But dread and despondency aren't going to help, even though the CDC still seems incapable of delivering much else.
BONUS: FOILED AGAIN
Darn - "comfortable dorm". Not in my book. Just spent some time with Google "Street View" looking at Lyndhurst, South Australia. My how the town has grown since the 1960's. It even has a pub now. And the surrounding desert is still wide open. A 'dorm' room? No thanks. A blanket, my hat for a pillow, under the stars. Much more comfortable. (Hopefully no 'bleeping' government busybody telling me, "You can't do that".)
ReplyDeleteI too have feelings of impending doom, but its nothing to do with the Wuhan flu. Its the Biden (sorry Biden/Harris) administration that's causing it.
ReplyDeleteSorry, CDC, I've no room for feelings of impending doom. Too much burning rage, you see...
ReplyDeleteHoly CRAP, Batman... are those "hotel rooms" or the interior of a roadside tamale package?
ReplyDelete@Bruce:
ReplyDeleteYes.
Echoing Brie above, I too have feelings of impending doom. For the future of personal liberty and freedom anywhere in the world. Because if this country succumbs to the globalist, corporatist, nihilist cabal, the entire world will have made the final and irreversible trip down the road to serfdom. Covid panic is now only a tool our masters wield to keep us cowering in our hovels.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting my second poke just before noon today. Hoping for a not-to-bad reaction.
ReplyDeleteI was out most of the night watching an enormous prairie fire, all by myself on a hilltop just enjoying the lines of red, yellow and orange creeping up and down the hills. It had been set by this outfit: https://www.conservationgateway.org/ConservationPractices/FireLandscapes/HabitatProtectionandRestoration/Training/TrainingExchanges/Documents/LoupTREX-2021-Announcement.pdf
I was involved in starting this program in 2008, but dropped out when I retired. It was a tremendous luxury to just sit and watch, without having to work and worry.
They're doing a great job, despite the usual schizoid spring weather, which has ranged from rain/snow to Red Flag Warnings since the 22nd.
One of the things we've worked at for 30 years is to try to keep the government out of Rx fire as much as possible. If the bureaucrats had their way there wouldn't be any. It seems to be just about haven't the power of "NO!" Sounds kind of familiar.
Apparently "feelings of Impending Doom" are the new scientific basis for the results of millions of vaccinations. Is it time to panic yet? Run around and trash cities, burn buildings...oh....wait. That's already been done. And look at all the good that has accomplished. But moving all these unvaccinated, untested, illegal migrants all around the country surely won't start another "surge" of infections? Right?
ReplyDeleteSense hasn't been a common attribute for many decades. Any semblance of such will not be found within any dhimmicrat individual. If it were to somehow surface within 100 miles of DC it would immediately be pummeled into paste and flushed.
Saw/heard an interesting news item the other day that said (paraphrasing) that the ChiCom Bug has a survival rate - in the U. S. of A. - of 98.5% overall; the survival rate for the common cold is 83%. And "they" call it a pandemic???
ReplyDelete"You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before." Rahm Emanuel
ReplyDeleteThings like spending more than double the previous annual federal budget with money that does not exist on boondoggles that elite and crony capitalists love but that the public at large has no interest in or desire for.
For example, Mayor Pete wants to spend trillions on transportation infrastructure that actually "subtracts" from existing infrastructure.
That's right, we need to spend trillions to put our supposedly overweight roads and highways on a "road diet". Because who wants unattractive, flabby highways?
What's a "road diet"? That's stuff like eliminating a lane of a multi-lane road to make room for a bike lane or Antifa marchers. That will really help you to get to work on time. The idea is that you'll get frustrated enough with the even slower traffic to give up your CO2-spewing automobile and take your bike or the trains he wants to build with the rest of the money to work instead.
Of course, what this really does is further punish the people who have to get to work to actually make the country run and our comfortable life possible while the work-from-home intellectuals and welfare collectors aren't bothered, but get to feel good about it all.
As for Biden's Center for Disaster Confirmation, they've belclowned themselves about as much as the WHO and Fauci, so it's now hard to take this theater particularly seriously anymore. I live in one of Biden's "Neanderthal" states, where the trend has been consistently down since governors started easing restrictions a month an a half ago instead of up as the smart doom-and-gloom people predicted. Science!
I hear that Biden's dog bit someone else at the White House. Time to put him down? (Biden that is, not the dog)
ReplyDeleteThe current actions of the current administration are not big surprise. They like having folks locked down and beholden to them, so having states thumb their noses and "open up for business" had to be countered with dire predictions accompanied by letting Covid pour across our southern border. And just to make sure the influx at the border is more effective, they are spreading the illegals all over the country on busses. Hats off to the 19 Senators who went to the mouth of the beast and took video! I laughed out loud when I saw that woman trying to stop Ted Cruz from filming.
ReplyDelete@Brie and Tricky,
I actually think most fine citizens of this country have had enough nonsense, and the liberal push to keep us cowering in our hovels is going to fail, and eventually fail spectacularly. States like Florida and Texas have exposed "The Great and Powerful Oz" hiding behind the curtain.
@Velveeta,
California traded yearly controlled Rx burns for yearly uncontrolled fires from hell. Smart!
@John the Econ,
Libtards like Fudgepacker Pete must think they can rid the planet of gas powered vehicles by raising gas prices and making roads suck more. They'd rather we drove coal powered cars like Teslas, I guess.
I actually wish they'd add a lane for the Antifa "protesters." As I get older, my ability to not suddenly swerve across the line a little has diminished a good bit, so it would be nice to have the thudding sound to get me back in my lane.
@Colby. The incident commander of this deal is an employee of a private contractor out of Chico. He's available because they can't work in California, except on suppression.
ReplyDeleteNobody bothered trying to create a cold vaccine before because by the time you develop, test, approve and produce it, the virus has already mutated into dozens of variants, at least a quarter of which won't be deterred by the vaccine one tiny little bit.
ReplyDeleteCovid is here to stay. Everybody will get their chance to enjoy it, every cold and flu season.
All the panic is created to frighten the sheep into submission and compliance to orders. Any orders. Now put on your mask and get on the truck!

APRIL FOOLS!
In a sane world, what is below would indeed be an "April Fools" joke. Sadly, it's not.
ReplyDeleteThe Biden's utter disinterest in basic dog obedience training and their abject carelessness/irresponsibility in allowing their obviously aggressive dogs the ability to attack their coworkers is revealing. Or not. As is typical with Progressives, the real work, responsibility and consequences of Progressive malfeasance is always up to someone else to deal with. But then again, it's not like they did any better with at least one of their kids:
Hunter Biden says he was 'smoking crack every 15 minutes', more jaw-dropping moments from memoir 'Beautiful Things'
Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, has seen his fair share of ugly things. His alcohol and drug addiction sent him spiraling for years and led him to cook his own crack cocaine. But he's seen a lot of beautiful things, too – namely the love he shares with his father and brother Beau Biden, who died of glioblastoma in 2015.
On a related topic:
Secret Service inserted itself into case of Hunter Biden’s gun
On Oct. 23, 2018, President Joe Biden’s son Hunter and daughter in law Hallie were involved in a bizarre incident in which Hallie took Hunter’s gun and threw it in a trash can behind a grocery store, only to return later to find it gone.
Other than detailing the already well-known drama that is Hunter Biden's entitled life, how are the above two stories relevant to today's news? Because in the wake of the two recent mass shootings, Progressives are again demanding more "common sense gun control" which includes more of federal background checks.
Hunter responded “no” to a question on the transaction record that asks, “Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?”
Hunter Biden committed at least one felony. And yet he was never charged, tried, or prosecuted. The penalty for lying on a Form 4473 is up to 10 years. In fact, not only did Hunter not suffer any consequence of this felony, the Secret Service actually attempted to run interference for him (or his dad) by trying to seize the form 4473 that Hunter signed and that was in the possession of the store where he bought the gun. Fortunately, the gun store owner was well familiar with the law that states that only the ATF can demand the form, so he told the Secret Service agents sent to get it to go pound sand. (The Secret Service says they "have no record" of this event, but they didn't deny it either)
In addition to that, the Biden's daughter-in-law (through Beau, not Hunter, um creepy!) Hallie committed numerous crimes, including stealing the gun from Hunter and recklessly disposing it across the street from a school. Don't expect anything to come of that either.
So just what is the point of more federal gun laws when the federal government doesn't bother to enforce most of the laws already on the books? Or better yet, exactly what is the point when the few and only people who do get prosecuted are not the elite or politically well-connected people such as Hunter Biden?
ReplyDeleteI'll tell you the point: It's just more of the Progressive War on the Middle Class. The Hunter Biden's of the world who are rich or politically connected don't have to worry. The street thugs who don't bother with getting their weapons from places that require a 4473 don't have to worry. These laws are specifically aimed at the ordinary, law-abiding middle class citizen who just wants to exercise their Constitutionally protected rights.
If Republicans in Congress had any guts, they'd tell Democrats that any additional "common sense gun control" is a total fraud as long as people like Hunter Biden are free to live their lives unencumbered by the countless laws already on the books. Until he's in jail, we don't see the point, unless the point is to get to people not favored by Progressives.
The main reason that Progressives are hell bent on restricting access to guns (with the eventual confiscation of all privately held weapons their end goal) is because they know what is coming as they continue to "fundamentally change" America, and they are scared.
ReplyDeleteI think it's more of a death wish; if/when these activist proponents ever decide to go out and confiscate the firearms themselves. It would be even better if they will come onto my property, after dark.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteThe Demo_Rats always talk about their proposed gun control laws supposedly helping reduce crime, but the Demo_Rats don't care about crime. They don't care about crime because they think the common criminals won't take up arms against an oppressive government. The Demo_Rats DO care about those who may one day finally get tired of the Demo_Rats' attempts to destroy America and do something about it--IYKWIMAITYD.
@JustaJeepGuy, no they don't. Criminals are no threat to the megastate. In fact, they only serve to justify the existence of the megastate. So as long as the leaders of the megastate can insulate themselves from the collateral damage of most criminal activity, they will be just fine with it. As usual, it's everyone else who gets to suffer.
