Cheap Shot

stilton’s place, stilton, political, humor, conservative, cartoons, jokes, hope n’ change, jen psaki, biden, covid, pandemic, vaccine, nascar

Remember when characterizing entire groups of people with broad, unflattering stereotypes was considered unacceptable? Apparently the Biden administration doesn't, as evidenced by a recent Jen Psaki press briefing in which she said that the White House was trying to push their vaccine message to white conservatives by advertising on "The Deadliest Catch" (essentially a fishing show) and making outreach via Nascar and country music.

While not specifically referenced, we assume taxpayer-funded pro-vaccination ads are also being put on confederate flags and packages of chewing tobacco, while bumper stickers ("White Trash Matters - Get The Shot") are being handed out in trailer parks.

To be clear, Stilton's Place is in favor of the vaccinations (albeit not enthusiastically). So we'd like to give Jen Psaki a little advice: rather than assume that white conservatives are all inbred hillbillies who are just too dumb or obstinate to get vaccinated, why not work on your actual messaging?

Because it's just possible that some people are resistant to the vaccine push because it's coming from people whose torrent of lies puts Niagara Falls to shame. And for that matter, it's coming from people who clearly hate white conservatives and have consistently acted against their interests.

Or maybe it's because the Biden administration hasn't really made it clear what we can do when vaccinated that we can't do while unvaccinated? Can we gather in groups? Can we take off our masks? Can we put rusting wrecked cars on cement blocks in our front lawns and throw beer bottles into the crabgrass and then shoot at them like before the pandemic?

There could be some additional foot-dragging on getting The Shot owing to reputable stories about Covid-19 variants "breaking through" the Pfizer vaccine (although current efficacy is still high), and little "oopsies" like the discovery that the AstraZeneca vaccine can sometimes cause a potentially fatal blood clotting disorder. But, you know, only rarely

But really, Jen, all of these considerations can be boiled down to just one salient point: the Biden administration has no credibility among white conservatives. None. So quit throwing our hard-earned money at TV commercials which run during professional wrestling and "Beverly Hillbillies" re-runs. Instead, try giving us yokels some straight truth or, better still, just shut up.

I met this... thirty-year-old with this blank, pale, emotionless face, and... the blackest eyes - the Devil's eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach her, and then another four trying to keep her locked up, because I realized that what was living behind that woman's eyes was purely and simply... evil."

  3. Regardless of how the vaccine is pushed and packaged I will never take this shot.

This is a virus and simple science recognizes that it will mutate. So once it mutates another vaccine will need to be created, then another, and so on.

The flu vaccine has the same fault which is why individuals who get the flu vaccine do it annually while those of us who don't rely on our natural immune systems.

I'm making this statement only to provide a desenting point of view about getting vaccinated.

  5. My younger brother (69 years old) got the first shot and fell over dead 1 1/2 weeks later. No warning, no time to get help, just instant death. So, no shot for me. I'd rather risk getting the virus and at least have a little time trying to survive it.

  8. I recently read somewhere that last year there were 38,000,000 (following your lead of only using zeros vice words) cases of the flu across our once great Nation. And this year we have a whooping 1,400 cases. Soooooooooo, is the 'Rona just a severe case of the flu? Was the vaccine burning a hole in some mad scientist's lab coat pocket, and they had to invent a global pandemic to see if it would work?

Your awesome site and Nick P's BNN videos are the only reliable and last bastion of common sense for America. Please keep it going. We need you shining beacon of sage wisdom and sense of humor now more than ever!!!!!

  9. @ Redlegger-Well that makes two of us.

As much as I would like to believe differently, and as much as some will disagree with me, this never was about public safety or health. It was though always about government control over the citizen, and "death" by a thousand cuts.

  10. I highly distrust a vaccine supported by Bill Genocide Gates. Now that Jen Pissedoffy has announced their target groups, I know I will not be taking it.

  15. Just returned from a week away from the madness I have been soaked with on a daily basis from the teevee and internet. Took the wife in our small motor home to Modoc County in NE Kalifornia to shoot ground squirrels (destructive little pests to the alfalfa farmers), only to find that the state requires that only copper bullets be used, and that using lead bullets will be rewarded with a $1,000-5,000 fine.

High winds (including the inescapable ones from Biden and crew) caused us to continue on back to Arizona, where some non-political classic car shows will help us return to what's left of the good old days...including dusting off the Corvette-powered '38 Chevy while listening to conservative talk shows on the radio---cheap therapy these days.

  16. Recently this Texas-raised, Jewish conservative and disabled senior received a call from a gov't dept of Geezer Welfare to see if I had gotten the vac...cool. I of course explained that no, hadn't tried that death-defying scenario as I had enough life-threatening physical situations I was currently dealing with...my recent experience getting 2 vaccines (flu and pneumonia) and having excruciating arm pain, with fever and nausea for days after rather cemented my desire to not commit "voluntary medical hari-kari" by seeing if I survived a known killer like the Covid vac. Imagine my surprise (not) when the lady shared that there were quite a few seniors JUST LIKE ME and it was a common response she was getting.
All I could say is "duh"...but if the gov needed stand-in volunteers to hold up targets at a gun range, that I might do, seems a bit safer with better survival odds.
    Just sayin'...

  17. If the vaccine causes production of antibodies that are bad for me, I'm counting on my body to kill them. Those I make on own are more trusted. Several older friends AND family (some not all that healthy) died in part from lack of expedient treatment for Covid. Several others supposedly got it & recovered. From the beginning so many thick-headed people refused to wear masks, stay separated, stay sanitized. We found things to do without much company. I wouldn't mine a mild illness & recovery; but I want to keep my lungs as healthy as possible to keep diving. All my doctors, nurses, etc took the shots. We read up on it; talked with others including more doctors, nurses, pharmacists, etc. And we were not among the first to get the vaccine. But we are both at higher risk and we got the shots. (Phizers) Not a big deal.

Do what you want; I don't mind at all. But it would be best for others to call me stupid to my face. I might demonstrate how healthy (and fed-up with others' opinions) I am. And let's not forget where all this started about 1-1/2 years or more ago. And who is buddying up to them more all the time.

  21. Or how about a coupon for a free tin of Skoal or a confederate flag with every shot?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” ― Sun Tzu, The Art of War

One of the few things that encourage me in this supposed civil war that has been taking place for the last few decades now is how poorly the left really understands us. From Obama's "bitter clinger" remarks through Hillary's "basket of deplrables" to the 3rd Obama Administration marketing of the concept that today's conservatives are actually hood-wearing racist Democrats from the mid-'60s, the Progressive elite not only displays their ignorance about who really populates America, but projects their worst inner feelings about their themselves and their biases onto that canvas.

Is Deadliest Catch even still on? I loved the first few seasons, but after that all the episodes started to look the same as the show devolved into little more than a soap opera with an all-male cast.

I tuned out of NASCAR in the '70s when they took the "stock" out of "stock car".

Likewise, I tuned out of country music a dozen or so years ago when it ran out of ideas and started to sound more like rap, which was largely what tuned me out of pop culture 30+ years ago in the first place.

Speaking of cultural unawareness, just what does the Biden Administration suggest should be done to encourage vaccination within a demographic that is even more skeptical of shots provided by government than us hillbillies are?

Yeah, it's pretty hard to take any messaging seriously from an administration that pretty much lies about everything, from who they think the smart people really are to the definition of "infrastructure". It's kinda hard for self-actualized citizens to get excited over taking a shot that is likely to make them sick for a few days when the government is also telling them that they're still going to be locked down indefinitely regardless. How many masks am I supposed to be wearing today?

However, the vac lottery is a percentage of millions less participants...and no one stops "buying tickets". what are the odds? LOL
But if the Lottery had 2 thousand Grand Prize winners a year, EVERYONE would buy a ticket! The vax lottery, on the other hand, DOES have a December till now record of 2,794 reports of deaths after vaxxing. And that's the exact opposite of a Lottery you wanna win...you die! People say "thickheaded", "ignorant" and such about those who don't wanna see if we are the vax lottery losers and continuously point to the not dead vax getters...they were lucky, so what? It would be just as wrong to point at all the Big Money Lottery losers and say look at all the people that didn't win...again, so what?
For the slow reader, Money Lottery, winning good. Vax Lottery, winning horrible death BAD!

  31. @She's A Beauty- I've got goosebumps!

    @Jim G.- I'll drink to that!

@M. Mitchell Marmel- Well now you're just being psarcastic!

@Redleger- The points you make are good ones. I, too, would really like to get some straight info on how many vaccines we'll eventually need for the unending string of variants? How often will each of those vaccines need a booster? And what the hell with the benefit versus the costs (economic, social, moral, etc) be?

@Pops- Trust me, I didn't come to my decision lightly - nor without doing my homework. A factor I had to consider is that there are some medical conditions in my household that put people at greatly-heightened risk if they contract the virus. If that weren't the case, I might not have gotten the vaccination (at least until it was tested a lot more). If other people who don't have those special considerations are against getting the shot, I'm not going to criticize their choice.

@Fritzchen- Still better than hearing about yourself "this 'un's got a purty mouth."

@Alan- I'm terribly sorry about your brother and offer you my genuine condolences. Folks our age (I'm 68) sometimes die without warning so it's hard to know for sure that the shot was to blame...but I sure as hell don't know that it wasn't to blame. I'm very sorry for the loss to you and your family.

@Bobo the Hobo- Not only do I not have a paddle, but I'm pretty sure I know which "crick" I'm in.

@Ellin- Yes, indeed. I'm old enough to remember the nightmare births caused by thalidomide use back in the day. Such a "safe" drug, such a "good" drug - and just the thing for pregnant moms. This really is a good reminder that not everything that is recommended by the "experts" and gets to market is safe.

@Buck- I hadn't seen those numbers, but I don't doubt that the flu hasn't had many cases. After all, the same "safety measures" (hand washing, masking, distancing) are all effective in lowering flu transmission. Combine that with seasonal flu shots, and it makes sense for the numbers to plummet.

And thanks for the nice words about the site. I can't promise you brilliance, but I can promise you honesty and a sense of humor. Let's see Washington beat that!

@American Cowboy- I think this mess started as a health crisis, but then metastasized into power grabs and political gamesmanship. Both of which are currently a great threat to our nation and citizens that the virus itself.

  33. @Geoff King- I certainly can't blame you, for reasons I cited in the original post: the shots are being pushed by people who have repeatedly lied to us (and about us) and who absolutely detest folks like us. Not a great basis for establishing trust.

@Drew458- I came really close to having a follow up cartoon on the original post which would have gone like this: Reporter: How did the vaccine PSA's go with the grown up kid from Deliverance? Psaki: Not well... Psaki: Everyone thought he was Joe Biden. And yes, the resemblance is spooky. I don't know when Joe developed those barely open inbred eyes, but he sure has 'em now.

@Nancy Dickerson- They hate us, pure and simple. And to make that easier on their consciences (if they have any) they have to demonize and degrade us in their own minds.

@Anonymous- As I mentioned above, there were some special medical considerations here that made the risk seem acceptable. That being said, I'm taking handfuls of supplements including the Vit D and Zinc.

@TrickRicky- Also good: elderberry capsules, NAC, quercetin, L-glutathione, B-1 and 12, and melatonin if you need help getting a good night's sleep (sleep is important).

@Anonymous- You've just put an indelible image in my mind of Joe and Hunter playing "Dueling Bidens" on their tallywhackers.

@Alfonso Bedoya- That sounds like a decent getaway. Mrs. J and I need to plan such a thing soon.

@Gee M- Hey, I get it! Your logic, that is - I still don't want to get Covid or some freak side effect from the vaccine.

@Rod- Very well said. My own twin brother got Covid-19 before anyone even knew what it was, and it hit him hard and get him down for months. Even now, his ability to taste and smell is impaired. So I take the virus seriously.

@Grumpy- I think there are/were good arguments for the masking and social-distancing, but having Fauci and the Surgeon General come out of the gates saying that masks were dangerous was a lie we've never recovered from, and I don't blame people for not believing what they're told. And yeah, I'm taking all of those remedies you list!

@Sandra Gray- I agree that it's been surprising that so many people seemingly needed to be reminded of basic hygiene!

@Kayakfish- I should really go ahead and make that a tattoo.

@John the Econ- Great points throughout!

@American Cowboy- Yeah, that sounds about right.

@Jon- Thanks to TIVO, I haven't seen a commercial in years. Great, ain't it?

@Anonymous- Seemingly, no one can tell us the great good which will come from getting vaccinated...and that's a problem. I would never have believed that we could have a pandemic and get so little straight information. How I can be this old and this naive is still amazing to me.

@Anonymous- Like I've said above, in the maelstrom of misinformation I'm not going to criticize anyone else's choices. But there IS a nasty damn disease at the heart of all of this, and my twin brother suffered with it mightily. For most people it may be no problem, but for others - it's bad news.

  34. @Sortahwitte- I think I'll fall into the "speed bump" category myself, but it all counts!

@Jim Irre- The whole "unproven" nature of the mrna meds is disconcerting to say the least. Still, my family took the shots as our survival rate was likely quite a bit lower than that 95% you mention (owing to medical issues).

@Colby Muenster- It's clear that the Leftists see their own electorate as easily manipulated morons (and accurately so) so it makes sense that they're baffled by the fact that conservatives aren't the same critters.

@Gee M- You're right that, lottery or vaccines, these are numbers games and the math-impaired will suffer most. But another big consideration is "is the game fixed?" Probably not with the lotto, but with the government/media vaccine push? I'm less sure...

@Buck O'fama- I'll admit that Clan McGregor is still my germicide of choice!

  36. I'm not an anti-vaxxer, but for this disease, I'd rather just get and get it over with. I doubt it will kill me but if it does, well, nobody gets out of here alive. I think my body's antibodies will work better against the virus and its mutations than these vaccines I've been hearing about. Especially if it turns out that you need to get a booster shot every six months.

Besides, Bill Gates and others who are involved in the vaccine want to reduce the planet's population to the level it was in 1650. How do they expect to do that? They expect everyone but themselves to die off from some disease or its "cure". They seem to think they will live forever. They are mistaken.

  39. Why in tarnation are you in favor of these injections, Stilton? You do know that none of these vaccines have been tested long term, and none of them have been approved by the FDA - they have merely been allowed as an "emergency measure." They are EXPERIMENTAL. Pfizer and Moderna in particular employ technology that is highly problematic and has repeatedly been refused approval for years because so many of the animals tested on ending up dying. More than a few doctors and scientists are calling the mRNA "vaccines" a Trojan horse, and are expecting mass die-offs of inoculated people (not all of them, but a lot) this fall.

I-MASK+ is just one of several preventative protocols featuring vitamins and supplements. Comment above about cuercetin, melatonin, B, N-AC is spot on.

And y'all are aware of Ivermectin, which still draws blank stares from folks when I mention it. So glad to see this. Add Fluvoxamine, Proxalutamide, Budesonide, and Molnupirivar to your awareness. 2 of these are on the market for years, 2 in trials, 3 work far better than Ivermectin, 1 also works magically with Ivermectin, and 1 is an adjuvant, that really helps with lung issues related to this. c19study.com/

It's time to push your government to support these meds. Not one of them is approved or even has an EUA, and the CDC/FDA/WHO are actively against several of them.
