Reading Between the Lies

A nod is as good as a wink to a blind bat.
After two years and millions of dollars spent on a fruitless investigation, Robert Mueller finally crawled from the primordial ooze to reveal himself as a swamp-dwelling Deep State weasel bent on overthrowing the President of the United States.

We refer, of course, to his "special announcement" on Wednesday which revealed not a scintilla of new or relevant information, but was packed with deceptive wording, insinuation, and innuendo. Which is, coincidentally, where we'd like to tell Mueller to shove his report and his opinions.

Mueller stated that he didn't have the power to indict a sitting President even if that President had committed a crime - strongly suggesting that if this weren't the case, he'd already have Trump in manacles. But no significant evidence of any crime involving Trump was included in his encyclopedic report. Which is why he's now trying to spin the results.

Similarly, Mueller stated that the Constitution requires a process other than the criminal justice system to bring charges against a sitting President. As a statement, it's perfectly true. As an insinuation, it practically screams that Mueller believes Congress should impeach Trump, despite his having committed no crimes.

Left-wing media sources (redundant, we know) are throwing confetti in the air, high-fiving, and popping champagne corks as they happily report that Mueller has very strongly implied that Trump was colluding with the Russians (who, according to Mueller, had a massive effect on the 2016 election), was guilty of obstructing justice even though nothing actually was obstructed, and that Trump needs to be impeached because...uh...because the Left finds him, his hair, his wife, his supporters, and his continuing successes so damn annoying.

As bad as all this is, Trump himself gave the media another stimulating pop of amyl nitrate when he subsequently tweeted that "I had nothing to do with Russia helping me to get elected." He later tried correcting the clumsily worded (surprise!) tweet, but it was too late. Alleged news outlets and social media were already ablaze with the news that Trump himself had finally admitted Russian collusion.

So between Mueller's deliberate obfuscation and Trump's par-for-the-course mangling of words, this hasn't been a great couple of days for those of us who, unlike Mueller, are still interested in justice, the fair application of laws, and our Constitution.

We can only hope that the Barr investigation of the power players behind this attempted coup will soon pay off, and real justice will be carried out promptly, fairly, and mercilessly.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT...

For those who may have been baffled by today's cartoon, it's a tip of the bowler to this classic Monty Python sketch...

  1. Trump didn"t mangle his tweet, he nailed it. The Russkies certainly did help get him elected, just not at his request. They did it because they hated Mrs. Clinton - probably worried about her wanting her uranium back or something.

    1. Or possibly because Podesta and the DNC got hacked when they gave their password to the Russkies and the RNC was smarter - and didn't.

  2. I believe Trump is guilty of obstruction. "Obstruction of Just Us", as in "just us Democrats should be able to nominate for SCOTUS" & "just us Democrats should decide how high (astronomically so) taxes should be", and "just us Democrats know what's good for the country". THAT'S what they consider a high crime. "Not letting us have our own way."

  4. All the clamor is to charge the cannons if/when the democrats regain control of the Senate (shudder) .

Should they do so and the House still remain in the hands of he howling mob, and Trump is reelected, a bottle of Triple Smoke whiskey says articles of impeachment will be passed by the House before Valentine's Day, 2020.

  7. The problem for the Dems, as I see it, is that they must complete this coup of the Trump presidency before the truth comes out. William Barr is the biggest impediment to that task they currently face.

  8. @Will Hepburn- I'm not sure how much Russian efforts (and there were some) really affected the results of the election. Nor have I seen any compelling evidence that it was Russia that hacked DNC emails. Last I heard, the FBI has never been allowed to look at the DNCs server, but a "security expert" hired by the DNC used his own proprietary software to look at the hard drives and it was he who said "you got hacked by Russians." Which is exactly what the DNC would want him to say because it would look better than "a disgruntled staffer downloaded all the emails onto a portable drive," for which there is evidence (based on data transmission speeds).

@Jason Anyone- "Obstruction of Just Us" is my favorite phrase of the day. You're right!

@Section147- Trump should hire someone to wear an armored suit, stand on the White House roof, and taunt Democrats as they come and go. I'd also be okay with a catapult firing livestock.

@Fish Out of Water- I have no doubt that you're right. If the Dems can't rip Trump out of office, they'll attempt to cripple his Presidency (and much of America) out of spite.

@Jim Irre- As you say, there's a pretty clearly defined race against time for both camps now. If Barr starts dishing real dirt, it will change the narrative dramatically - and the Left does not want that.

  9. Methinks that the democraps are using Orwell's 'Animal Farm' as an instruction manual rather than a novel. "All pigs are created equal, only some pigs are more equal than others".

  10. I sincerely hope that Trump and his camp are taking the physical security of Barr in a very serious vein. We are not dealing with patriots here. We are dealing with scum whose creed starts with "what's in it for me...."

  11. @Fred Ciampi- I think the dems are using Gulag Archipelago as their manual. We are now entering the phase where accusation equals guilt, and the onus of proving one's innocence has been placed on those not of the clique. Witness the Kavanaugh debacle and the recent Mueller travesty. How very Soviet of our professional political class, which brings me to a quote from Solzhenitsyn in Gulag:

"Is it not true that professional politicians are boils on the neck of society that prevent it from turning it's head and moving it's arms?"

  12. My friends and I have spent almost two years analyzing the evidence against Robert Mueller, and the alleged accusations against him, including grand-theft auto, shoplifting, heresy, and cross-dressing. Although we did not find enough evidence to charge him, neither could we exonerate him. So sad!

  13. Mr. Mueller dropped his fart-bomb, and immediately departed, leaving a bad smell behind him. The rumor is that he went to ground in a state where the rule of law and the Constitution are respected, thus guaranteeing that Joe Lasinis and his friends (or AG Barr) cannot pull the same manuever with him...

I recommend a strong squirt of Febreeze, followed by a fan array set to hurricane-level, to clear the air.

  15. Why would the Russians help Trump get elected, when Putin had (still has?) Hillary in his hip pocket?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Basically, Mueller was hired to "give clarity" to Trump's alleged crimes so that both Congress and the voting public could act accordingly. After 2 years and nearly $40-million dollars, he failed. His report did not confer charges of any crime that were in any way "beyond a reasonable doubt" and only served to spread more confusion and discord to an already divided nation.

That this happened makes a cynical me think that perhaps that was the agenda all along.

So Democrats, the ball is in your court. The House can start impeachment proceedings any time it wants. So why doesn't it? Between this and "Make America 2009 Again", it's a sure winner for next year. Isn't it?

  17. Stilton, you have successfully revealed your tremendous repository of racism, (nudge nudge, wink wink) by calling the attempted takeover of government as a "coup" instead of the more accurate Kenyan version... "COUPE". Yeah, you couldn't pull the "cotton" over my eyes with such a blatant slap in the face toward the erudite lamont insane obama like that. As any Harvard student or University of Chicago visiting "perfessor" would know, the "P" is pronounced, as in "CORPESMAN", ala, Mooch's "husband".

  18. I think Mueller had two objectives for speaking out, inasmuch as no new information was brought forth. First and foremost, he wanted to preclude having to testify before Congress under oath and secondly, he wanted to throw gasoline on the impeachment fire. He was fabulously successful on the second point. As to the first, we shall see. He may have just given Lindsey Graham a nudge to bring him in.

  19. Thank you for the Python reference, Stilton! The Congress of the United States shall henceforth be know as "The Knights who say Ni."

Mueller's 9 minute statement has made the rabid dogs even more rabid, and as John the Econ so frequently points out, if you want more Trump, this is how you get more Trump. I think there are a few in Congress who see that impeachment is absolutely the wrong path (perhaps even San Fran Nan), but it's turned into a "Whoever shouts the loudest wins" club. And yes, what is stopping them from starting impeachment proceedings? Get it over with already, you idiots! The lefties want it, Trump wants it, the Repubs want it, us peons want it. C'mon already! I want to see that almost entirely red map the day after the 2020 election.

Anybody care to start a pool on exactly when Barr is going to let the hammer drop? I'm thinking about mid October 2020, but I hope it's much sooner.

  20. This all reminds me of an old Texas joke. There was a candidate who was faring so poorly in an upcoming election that his campaign staff was desperate to do something, anything, to improve his chances of winning.

"Here's an idea" said one staff member. "Let's accuse his opponent of f**king pigs!"

"Are you nuts?" said another. "You know his opponent doesn't do that!"

"Yeah" said the first staff member. "But at least we'll have the pleasure of hearing the SOB deny it!"

    So it goes.

  21. Any thought that Mueller purposefully escalated the situation - to insure that the coup villains can’t find a way to hide from accountability they deserve?

Without fueling the fire the swamp would push to suppress retribution, and be less likely to turn on each other.

Remember he may be fingering agencies and people widely believed to lethally lash out when directly threatened.

Whether intentional or an unintended consequence hardly matters - his grandstanding and exit makes it more likely someone is going to held accountable.

As he is a clever man I'm thinking he used this chance to force holding the coup democraps swampsters, rogue intelligence agency & RINOs out from under their log into the daylight - hoping they will be held accountable.

    Just saying....

  22. President Trump's sin is holding the dems to rules of law and wanting to have their sins adjudicated in a court of law. Secondly, when these cretins go to the court house the dems are scared sheitless that they will rat out others, some whom we do not know about yet, for instance, I feel that the Coup could not have been set in place without acquisition for some members of the Senate and Congress whom we have not heard about yet. Then there is the fighting back. Before President Trump, Republicans were just butt boys for them dem as they simply would not stand up against them but now we see a few who will.
On the Coup, this one really scares them as AG Barr will certainly have a GJ impaneled and run it up the flag pole. This crime is so serious, especially by the premier law enforcement agencies of this nation, even reaching to the former President, that it will probably create serious unlawful activities by the dems. The tentacles of this treasonous activity will certain wrap around a lot of names.

  23. It appears that everything the swamp throws at Trump always boomerangs back on them. My favorite cartoonist Branco nails it again
It's like a little instant Karma in a way. I find it lovely when their sh*t hits them instead of their intended target.

  24. @Joseph ET, that is undoubtedly my favorite aspect of the Trump era. Remember when Trump said that his campaign was being spied on by the Democrats and the Democrats scoffed? Remember when the Democrats argued that Trump wouldn't accept the results of the election?

I'm not a fan of trade wars. I can only hope Trump's current acts work out the same way.

  27. And now for something completely different -- front page news from a week ago. Our local Congressional representative, who shall remain unnamed to avoid giving him any more publicity, but whose political party's name starts with a "D," announced that he was siding with other members of Congress who were calling for Trump's impeachment, and that we could be damn sure that they were going to begin impeachment proceedings THE INSTANT THEY COULD FIND SOMETHING TO IMPEACH HIM FOR. I swear that's what he said, although he spoke in weasel. All I've done is translate it into English.

  28. @rickn8or said,

"Why would the Russians help Trump get elected, when Putin had (still has?) Hillary in his hip pocket?"

It has always been my contention that Putin wanted Hitlary elected, and tried to help elect her, because he could then use the missing e-mails to blackmail her. When Trump made the statement that the Russians should get those e-mails, they most likely already HAD them. The Demo_Rats are trying desperately to hide their Russian collusion, hence the attempted coup. I'd love to see Barr round the coup participants up and see them all safely to prison (or execution for treason, ideally).

  31. @Anonymous two memos above. I'm thinking you're just trolling to have some reckless fun; but because I have very good i-net protection & security; and was bored after the NASCAR Pocono race; curiosity compelled me to check out your link.
It should be embarrassing and is totally idiotic. I'm thinking you are all very young and maybe even the product of 60+ year old mothers (assuming those theories are even close to correct. You may as well have said "Never date a woman". The higher risk age for bearing healthy babies actually starts at ~high 30's to 40's and depends upon a lot of other factors. And women in their high 30's, 40's & low 50's are at the peak of their mature sexuality. Take it from an older fellow if actually trying to be serious; you fellows do not know what you're talking about. But cheer up; things will be great when you grow up. And yes I'll go "Anon" on this one as well just to suppress the flack. This was essentially idle time but I stay busy.
