Our Motto: Be Repaired

stilton’s place, stilton, political, humor, conservative, cartoons, jokes, hope n’ change, boy scouts, campfire, name change

Yes, it's true...the "boy part" has been cut from the Boy Scout program, and the members (so to speak) will only be referred to as genderless scouts.

The change is due to the fact that the organization now allows girls (and middle-aged men who identify as girls) to join in the campfire-building, merit badge-earning, marshmallow-toasting fun and therefore didn't want a repugnant, divisive, gender specific name like that still used by those sex Nazi's in the "Girl Scouts."

Technically, the official name of the program will be Scout BSA, so the word "boy" is still hidden in there, but much like the word "colored" which lurks in the name of the NAACP, we're all supposed to pretend that it doesn't exist.

Sadly, the real story is that not enough kids are interested in being any kind of scouts these days which is why the Boy Scouts are trying to steal as much of the Girl Scout membership as possible.

But even though we understand the rationale, we're sorry to see yet another traditional bit of masculinity bite the dust. Especially since when it comes to "social justice," even when huge accommodations are made, someone will always want s'more.

INFECTIOUS PERSONALITY

stilton’s place, stilton, political, humor, conservative, cartoons, jokes, hope n’ change, michelle obama, forever, first lady

Michelle Obama recently referred to herself as our "Forever First Lady," apparently under the mistaken belief that, like the "Highlander" legend, she becomes stronger and more powerful each time another First Lady dies.

We're pretty sure the system doesn't really work like that, although if we see Hillary and Michelle charging at each other with broadswords we'll have to reexamine our beliefs.

HAPPY CULTURAL APPROPRIATION DAY!

Saturday is Cinco de Mayo - a very, very important holiday which celebrates half-priced margaritas, pressing "1" for English, and the complete loss of entry level jobs for actual Americans. Drink up!

You went straight from the “cutting off of the boy part" in the BSA piece to the "Forever First Lady With a Penis" panel. I see what you did there...

"Cinco de Mayo" celebrates a victory over the French army. Or as we Germans call it..."Tuesday".

Now mooch can join the BSA with no question of gender. I, for one, would NEED a margarita to see a picture of that induction.

The staff at the hospital in Denver where my wife used to work always referred to May 5 as Cinco de Drinko. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Personally, I think having boys and girls mixing early will only cause chaos and lead to having the organization disbanded. I think that is the intention any way, its inevitable.

Moochel becoming the Forever First Lady - that was a hilarious Highlander comparison you made there, I'm still laughing. Bet she's still in backyard, arms upraised waiting for lightning to come down and hit her.

C'mon Lightning - Light Her Up !

I’m not especially upset about the BSA changes. The BSA has had co-ed programs (Exploring & Venturing) for boys & girls ages 14-21 for many years. Exploring is career oriented while Venturing is geared to high adventure activities (backpacking, rock climbing, scuba diving, sailing, etc.). A lot of parents are turning away from Girl Scouts because the Girl Scouts have embraced a radical feminist agenda and they’re looking for something more traditional for their daughters. Although it appears that girls will be integrated into Cub Scouts, I don’t believe they intend to have co-ed Boy Scout troops at this time. Traditional Boy Scouts has been for boys ages 11-18; am not sure how they’re going handle it, maybe separate scout troops for boys & girls or possibly a new program altogether for girls that age.

My memories of being a Boy Scout include strong male role models, pride in acheiving difficult merit badges, and learning stealth techniques when sneeking out in the middle of the night to spy on the Girl Scout camp on the other side of the lake at our Jamborees.
Now I suppose that will all be replaced with genderless role models, merit badges for cookie sales and doily making, and sneeking into the girl's tent right next to yours.
Another American tradition destroyed by the left.

This country is being destroyed by those who could not have possibly built it. At some point, the left will push the right to an “either or” position, “either we give in, or we hit back.” Civil War II is no longer an abstract idea.

Stilton, your story about scouting is incredibly poignant, and, as usual, brilliantly articulated. Seems like the Scouts org should highlight the "BS" part of their name now!
magilla will only be known as the Forever Silverback, but she will NEVER be thought of as a "lady". Hell, King Kong in drag is more of a "lady" than magilla! Anyway, she was the "First Ho"! Don't want Jesse Jerkoff and Al Notsosharpton to bitch about insensitivity to cultural protocol in the Africannotstopwhining community.
Small slip-up on your part regarding the Mexican hola-day... lamont changed it to "Cinco De Cuatro", and he's a "jeenyus"... just "axe" him!

Then another group for girls needs to form that follows what the original Girl Scouts used to be. Girls do not and should not "infect" everything. Let the Boy Scouts be the BOY Scouts and the girls stay in their own.
Boys now have no outlet, no "safe space" as a all these liberal snowflakes want. They cannot be boys if there are girls around. Even little boys need a group where they can just be little boys. We need men in this world not these little pansies that have no idea how to fix something, swing a hammer, not cry at the drop of a hat. They sure know how to have facial hair although it doesnt collect food unless it is Vegan, organic, non GMO, Gluten Free food and Micro brewed, local beer.
The Exploring group is different. Its not widely known as a Boy Scout group and focuses on careers (police, fire, emt, etc) not on boys getting together.

I was fortunate to have gone to the Boy Scout Jamboree in 1953 in Irvine, California. Shortly thereafter, I was removed from the Boy Scouts of America. Yep, I was caught eating a "Brownie"
but was reinstated when I attended diversity and sensitivity classes on being PC and not to get caught or admit any wrongdoing!
This was back in the days when boys were boys and sheep were nervous!

Just trying to make light of just how screwed up our society has become.

In Moochelle's case, in deference to her alleged hubby, she gets a two-handed bastard sword.

And, even if the population of boy scouts is dwindling mandating they do something to save themselves the perception is that they have caved in to the SJWs. I believe this to be the reality as they had already caved to them on the subject of LGBT, allowing potentially dangerous adults shepherd young, impressionable lads as Scout Leaders.

Progressivism has been at war with the Boy Scouts for decades for obvious reasons. Scouting teaches and reinforces values that are diametrically opposed to the Progressive agenda. I was a scout, and it instilled in me at an early age some of the best values and skills that served me well later in life; self-reliance, leadership, and confidence in my values. Confident, self-reliant individuals have no need for Progressivism, and leaders with those values are considered dangerous.

So it's little wonder that they've been chipping away at the now-just "Scouts". The only question now is when the more Progressive merit badges will be arriving. For example, will there be an "Abortion" merit badge, or both an "Abortion" and "Late-Term Abortion" badge?

And what's the deal with the "Girl Scouts"?: So if I understand this correctly, girls have been finding the experience that they're getting in the "Girl Scouts" lacking, so that's why many want into the "Boy Scouts". One friend in the know I asked about this responded that "The girl scouts consider 'camping' going to a motel where you have to pay to watch the TV". So why aren't the "Girl Scouts" changing to address that? And why isn't the media asking that question? At some point will there by boy "Girl Scout" troops for those boys who'd rather bake cookies or do whatever it is that they do instead of the interesting stuff that girls are leaving the Girl Scouts for?

Nope. The typical conclusion for Progressives is to make the Boy Scouts just as mediocre.

For the time being, the Organization Formerly Known as the Boy Scouts will not be integrated, but will be having segregated boy and girl troops. And as is typical with Progressivism, we all know that won't stay that way for very long; They'll argue that's wrong too and push for "integration" eventually, which will be the death knell for scouting. One of the features of being in the Boy Scouts is the lack of drama that inevitably takes place when teenagers are in co-ed environments. (But it will address the quandary of "which troop should the 'transitioning' kid be in")

The Forever First Lady: The very founding notion of the American experiment was to rid us the shackles of lifetime monarchies. Our leaders were supposed to lead us at our will, and then go home to return to their own affairs when their terms were up. But that's not what this generation wants. They want our affairs to be their affairs indefinitely. They want to be permanent royalty.

Considering the example set by the Clintons, Michelle Obama probably can't be blamed for believing she's entitled to the royal role. If Barack was half the Constitutional scholar he's supposed to be, you'd think he'd be able to explain that too her. Unfortunately, I'm afraid he believes the same.

I was in Boy Scouts back in the 50's and 60's, and then it was all about becoming a man. Not just a man, though. You were taught how to be an upstanding member of the community who contributed to its improvement. Now it's apparently all about numbers. Fewer boys are in scouting because more parents are moonbats. So, to keep the numbers up, we have to include all 37 genders. How long before the age limit for getting your Eagle badge is raised to, say, 30 so everyone can get the trophy? I remember well my 16 year old buddy, Milt, being tapped for Order of the Arrow, then spending the night in the woods alone, with nothing more than a knife. Your average 16 year old today wouldn't make it an hour before crying for mommy.

Like Emmantaler said, "There can be only one," and Michelle, you ain't it! Give me Laura Bush or Melania Trump any day.

The several posts on the "Girl" Boy Scouting above all seem accurate in what they say and I won't repeat any of that. I'm still directly involved and have been for decades .

BSA rolled out the Cub age part early and then jumped to the other end of the age range by saying girls would have Ranks and could earn Eagle Rank . The big problem is they left the central part of the age progression out and that part is still not clear. It seems to be heading toward separated genders from age 11 to 14 (or so)then coed... and a BSA charter partner & troop can elect to remain male gender and girls form their own troops. Everyone should know that in most of the MANY international Scout programs around the world, Scouting is already coed and has been for long time. BSA (proper) but not Exploring nor Venture... is one of very few male only national Scouting organizations for boys 11+

I wish BSA had worked with GSA to successfully create an "equivalency" in both programs leading to Eagle rank as it exists now; but BSA chose to compete with GSA and I'm pretty sure that was vice versa as well. However GSA has been and is indeed dropping most of their outdoors program. If GSA will not deliver that; then I think BSA should. I've also seen what our program did for some "in the troop family" girls including my daughter who were not satisfied with GSA and often camped with us, did service projects , learn the skills, etc and there were no problems.

Except for some details about basic operations which are behind schedule by National BSA... I'm OK with the change and will try to help it succeed.

I became an Eagle Scout in Sept. 1965. I had worked my backside off to get it and it really meant something to me. I was especially proud in 2015 because of my 50th Anniversary.
When I heard last year that they planned to allow girls to work towards becoming an "Eagle Scout" or some eqivalent, I was sickened by it and gave them an earful, to no avail. Now the word Boy is being left out and replaced with "Scout BSA" ... they might as well replace it with "BS" because that is exactly what it is.

To sum this up, there is nothing left that resembles an Eagle Scout left, Order of the Arrow or JLT (Junior Leaders Training) at Philmont Scout Ranch, all three, which I attained.
This is a sad day, period.

I can't help but seeing the co-ed Scouting (although it works OK for Venture, etc.) as being a setup for lawsuits.

I have a good friend that has been involved with scouting since I have known him, close to 40 years. One of his sons achieved Eagle Scout and then a while later, he received in the mail an Autographed picture from that Texas Icon, Nolan Ryan. Still a treasured possession. We have all seen innumerable law suits against the Boy Scouts, all to decimate the organization for the sole purpose of destroying their character building ability. Hopefully, there is a special place in hell for those bringers of equalization suits simple because they were not men enough to teach their young girls those values.
