Ruth or Consequences?

stilton’s place, stilton, political, humor, conservative, cartoons, jokes, hope n’ change, ginsburg, 86, supreme court

Okay, we absolutely, genuinely wish no ill on Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and hope that she's doing well...but we do wish that her handlers could give us some concrete proof that she's still got her marbles. And a pulse.

Cynics that we are, we didn't find ourselves entirely reassured by a recent article which informed us that Ginsburg had just celebrated her 86th birthday and that the perky pixie of jurisprudence was "all smiles" as she cavorted around town. Especially since this is the photo they used to prove her vim, vigor, and vitality...

Wow, she looks great! Unless that's, oh, literally anyone else in the entire world who wears glasses. Or perhaps a small child holding a Ginsburg balloon. Or Ruth being carried to a waiting hearse...we have no freaking idea.

For that matter, we don't even really know if this is actually a photo or a painting by someone trying to rip off the impressionistic "colored dots" style of Georges Seurat.

In any event, we wish Justice Ginsburg a "happy birthday" and hope that she gets well - and gets retired - as soon as possible.

May she get to the destination she merits. All the babies pray.

I'd rather look at a photo of Busty!

Her retirement may not matter. Should the democrats, or should I say the "progressive" cum-pop marxists take the WH, SCOTUS will be packed with like minded "justices". That coupled with the braying to eliminate the electoral college, is nothing more than a progressive coup d etat, effectively silencing conservative voices and turn the entire country into a one-party The Banana People's Democratic Republic of Califorina.

And no one seems concerned as it can't happen here?

In the military to '86' something is to discard it ..........to deep six it.....to place in the circular file cabinet ....

It always amazes me that in every other area of life, by the time you are 86 you are expected to have long retired, and be sitting on the stoop watching the grandkids, and sipping a mint julep. In running the nation, no one sees anything wrong in letting some decrepit old has been make important decisions over our lives.

My folks just turned 81, and big on the grandkid thing, soccer games and what not... Glad dad had the sense to retire and enjoy life.
Be nice if Ruthie did the same.

Is that Morgan Freeman in the chauffeur's hat?

I honestly suspect she is in a freezer someplace and if she is, those law clerks surrounding her will be in a world of hurt. Definitely obstruction of justice since she is supposedly voting on the court cases. That in itself will be fun to watch as each and every case will have to be re-reviewed and such (unless the vote was such that her vote would make any difference.) They are hoping for an impeachment which they will not get and it is too long until the next change of Presidents unless the current one is reelected which he will be.
I am surprised that Chief Justice John Roberts is not looking into this. He is in charge of the court but again, you can't depend on him because I think the dems are blackmailing him. Wasn't it early January the last we heard from her?

I googled RBG to find something relevant to today's blog, and the first thing that came up was an ad for a Ruth Bader Ginsburg action figure. For a mere $17.95 you can own a 6 inch replica of Justice Ginsburg complete with gavel and about as much "action" as she shows in real life.
They also sell Bernie, Hillary, and Fauxcohontas action figures:

It says much about our nation, when an evil old woman is allowed to preside over important legal matters.

Fish Out of Water said...

BTW, dont hear much these days about the ballyhooed movie chronicling her life. Box office turkey?

TrickyRicky said...

@Fish Out Of Water- Au contraire, mon frere!! I live in Colorado and our out-of-control progressive legislature passed, and our fatuous, Il Duce inspired governor just signed a law that will allow California and New York to determine who gets our electoral votes. We KNOW that it can, and is, happening HERE!

Dead Democrats vote so why can't a dead Democrat Supreme Court Justice issue rulings?

Liberty Card said...

Didn't RBG once say the US constitution was "out of date" and should be rewritten to reflect the constitutions of African republics? How do crackpots like her get to be SCOTUS justices?

Fish Out of Water said...

@TrickyRicky: yes, I am aware of those developments. And I also believe these rashly ebeacted laws are very ripe for a constitutional challenge. That the rest of the country telling the residents of a state how their vote will be counted violates their voting rights.

Completely impossible. We don't grow bananas any more, and haven't been a republic for quite some time. "Ftuitloop Fascist State" OTOH ...

@Confusingly Clear: as much as your post makes me smile, most of the Russian people never dreamed Lenin and the Bolsheviks would evtemualy seize power, most of the German people between the wars, laughed at Adolf Hitler and the Nazis and yet.......

She will "hold on" until at least next year. Remember, they now have a "rule" that you cannot make a Supreme Court nomination in a Presidential election year. They tried to pull off the scam of no nominations in an election year to derail Kavanaugh, but failed. Then they will pull out all the stops and do everything to steal the 2020 election. If you think that 2016 and 2018 were bad, you ain't seen nothing yet!

Why not ask Justice Cavanaugh? At least he is compelled to and does apparently tell the truth. I would trust him over any RBG handlers.

Judi King said...

Another example of why there should be term limits for EVERYONE in DC. SCOTUS for life is the biggest mistake the founding fathers made.

Igor said...

WHERE in the Constitution does it say that SCOTUS terms are for life??
Isn't this a custom??

Rod said...

@Geoff: Well at least it shouldn't be such a BFD to replace the bettery in the RBG action figure. [grin]

@Anonymous- That's ominously beautiful.

@Jim G.- Photos of Busty leave no questions about her health.

@Fish Out of Water- I think a LOT of people are concerned that it could happen here. Including, oh, everyone reading this blog!

@REM1875- Sadly, my service to the nation has all been spent in restaurants, so that's the parlance I'm familiar with.

@Brie Cambembert- There really IS a value to having a long view of life and history, and having actual experience in seeing how things initiate and how they turn out. So I don't want to be an age snob...but at the same time, we're not all fortunate enough to just get smarter and wiser until we die. For many of us, memories start to fail and the marbles start leaking out of our bags. I don't care if Ruth is old, but if her mind has gone around the bend we really need to know.

@Pete (Detroit)- I think that's a great way to put it. I disagree with her politically, but would actually like to see her have an enjoyable retirement. She's earned it. Well, mostly.

@Karl Shaner- "Driving Justice Ruth," coming soon to a theater near you!

@James Daily- It's been quite awhile since we've heard anything out of Ruth. Besides the grainy picture I shared today, there's some video of her walking (or being semi-carried) through an airport - but I don't recall that she says anything intelligible. I'd like Roberts or SOMEone to get her speaking a sentence or two so we can see/hear for ourselves that her mind hasn't already gone to Happydale.

@Geoff King- A 6-inch model of Ruth Bader Ginsburg?! Geez, that's pretty much life-sized!

@Jess- Sadly, the definition of "evil" moves around a lot. I don't like her being on the court, but largely have grudging respect for the process that put her there.

@Fish Out of Water- I believe the bio-pic about Ginsburg performed okay domestically, but foreign showings plummeted because of the sex scene with the horse.

@TrickyRicky- Well THAT doesn't bode well!

@Jerry- You make a good point. Plus, if Ruth's corpse has been possessed by a spirit, she should still be able to serve. After all, possession is nine tenths of the law...

@Liberty Card- I'm pretty sure Ruth did say something like that. And in fairness, despite the founding father's great insights, they really did fail to include constitutional language to ensure female genital mutilation.

@Fish Out of Water- Well put.

@Confusingly Clear- Frankly, I think we came way to close to a Banana Republic with the Obama Republic.

@Fish Out of Water- Exactly. This stuff is funny...until it isn't.

@udaman- I think you're right. Even if "Ruth has left the building," they'll keep her body oxygenated and blood pumping until New Year's Day 2020.

@Anonymous- That's a great idea. I'd really like to hear what Kavanaugh has to say about Ginsburg's health and state of mind.

@Judi King- The "for life" appointment does make for an interesting dynamic. Not sure if I'm for it or against it, because it varies according to who gets sworn in.

@Igor- You make a good point. Apparently the Constitution doesn't give Supreme Court Justices a life term, but rather says that they shall "hold their offices during good behavior." Which we're apparently construing as letting them stay until they screw up obviously enough to be impeached.

@Rod- Her battery should last a good long time. It's not like she actually does anything but blink these days...

I just saw Gosnell, harsh movie...can Dr. Gosnell use the current NYC abortion law to show his aborting late-term babies alive, then killing them-, is not murder but an ahead of its time cutting-edge [groan] medical procedure and he should have his life-without-parole reexamined?
Me, I would like any future Doc aborting a late-term living baby be sentenced for life w/o
parole.
The living heartbeat determination works for me

@Stilton: totally off topic but I couldn't help noticing Plano, Tx as the address. Plano is of course the new home for Toyota Motor Sales, USA, and in light of the pending move to Northern Virginia, (Arlington), wonder how Toyota's relocation, has affected the area.

To frame the question, earlier this week, the incentives were approved by the county board after a contentious public meeting during which a BERNIE affiliated group calling itself Our revolution Arlington, tried to do an AOC and derail Amazon's move here.

I'm late to the discussion here, but perhaps Trump should push through the left's idiotic plan to have a crapload more SCOTUS judges, and appoint a crapload of young conservatives who will be there for decades to come.
