Poking the Barr

stilton’s place, stilton, political, humor, conservative, cartoons, jokes, hope n’ change, trump, mueller report, barr, senate hearing, treason, obama

Oscar Wilde was not a man you wanted on your bad side. A man of great intellect, piercing wit, and the gift of absolutely devastating quips, Wilde could eviscerate his opponents and critics using only his razor-sharp tongue.

Still, when Wilde was confronted by braying trolls who were mentally unequipped to appreciate the subtleties of his scathing rhetoric, we'd like to imagine that he would instead wait for the buffoons in a darkened alley with a nail-studded truncheon and give them a sound thrashing about the head and shoulders to more effectively point out the errors in their blighted logic.

And this is the position we find ourselves in today, at least rhetorically. Because after watching what the Senate Democrats did on Wednesday to Attorney General Barr, a good and honorable man, we find ourselves without much of a sense of humor today. Our thoughts are instead drifting towards more kinetic and unconventional procedures for restoring something like decorum, dignity, and common decency to the Grand Guignol proceedings in Washington.

"Questioners" (who had very few actual questions, but a lot of unsubstantiated accusations and insults) included presidential wannabees like Cory Booker and Kamala Harris, as well as some
ilio wahine from Hawaii whose only conceivable public service to the people of her stinking, socialist island would involve appeasing the volcano gods with a personal sacrifice. And yes, she's old - but based on her appearance and personality, we're guessing that she still meets the one mandatory requirement for the job (wink-wink, nudge-nudge).

See, we're still trying to joke here...but what we really feel is an all-consuming anger at these smug and morally vacuous liars and hypocrites. These are people who are still - STILL - trying to pull off a Presidential coup d'etat in the United States of America. Which isn't something that any of us should take lightly...or forgivingly.

It is our great hope that Attorney General Barr, who endured the appalling partisan abuse with great poise and intelligence, will use this despicable incident to stoke his own internal fires...the ones whose flames will soon be roaring under the feet of many in the Obama administration, the Clinton circle, and the traitorous intelligence agencies that did their best to end our nation's democracy.

All of them
need to be brought to trial by Mr. Barr. And after due process has been carried out and verdicts reached, appropriate punishment must be meted out. Even if, per today's cartoon, what's "appropriate" may involve bringing back some historical methodologies which lacked subtlety, but clearly demonstrated that treason is not a game you want to play and lose.

BONUS: DEMOCRAT HOUSE MEMBER TOTALLY EATS IT

On Thursday, Attorney General Barr decided against attending a second day of crucifixion, this time at the hands of House Democrats, which prompted one representative - a friggin' dolt who has probably never heard of Oscar Wilde - to sit and sloppily munch Kentucky Fried Chicken to show that Barr was - get this - a chicken for not showing up. Chicken - get it?! Hilarious, right?!

But it made us wonder, where would an obvious moron get such an idea...?

Anyone else run across the trend lately of rewriting "lawyer" jokes as "Congressional Democrat" jokes? Or is this just the half serious, half-witty sense of humor of DrPat's friends and correspondents?

Ex: What do you call a capsized junket boat that drowns a large group of Congressional Democrats? Ans: A good start...

Or: What's the difference between a dog and a Congressional Democrat in the middle of the highway? Ans: The skidmarks as people avoid hitting the dog...

Terry said...

You said it perfectly. It filled me with rage as well. I hope AG Barr skewers them.

M. Mitchell Marmel said...

@Pat: Other aphorisms could be rewritten as well...

"in this country, it is good to kill an admiral from time to time, in order to encourage the others" (Dans ce pays-ci, il est bon de tuer de temps en temps un amiral pour encourager les autres). -Voltaire

Feel free to substitute. :)

"chicken-eating nitwit" is the best description of Steve Cohen that I've heard in years. Perhaps we should start making mention of his little indiscretion a few years ago with his young "niece" I believe it was.

I'm happy he's not my congresscritter; it's bad enough being next door to his district.

More fodder for next year's presidential election. But if you believe the theories floated in the WSJs OpEd that all of this is calculated and preemptive, that Barr poses a real and present danger to many powerful people in the swamp for their 2016 misdeeds, then there is a twisted logic to the public farce.

An aside, the worst electoral mistake since the peanut farmer from Plains, Ga, has reportedly said 'he was “shocked” by the election results and felt the American people had turned on him, ..'

What? as if losing the House and Senate on his watch wasn't enough of hint?!!!

The cements and certifies the man is questionably delusional.

While you're supposed to be a cartoonist, humorist & joker, this edition AGAIN demonstrates your education, common sense & moral compass. Thank you Silt for your outrage. I hope we're near the tipping point to start setting this all right; and it needs to be a deep clean-up. Tolerance is good to a point but it's being overdone. Obviously the next major election is already settled for me; probably the next & the next if there is one. And I'm starting to speak up more about what's going on.

In the mid to late 90's I traveled several times to Venezuela to work in Caracas, Maturin & the Pedernales region. I experienced first-hand what that significant and formerly wealthy nation was like then: Prosperous, happy, friendly. Yes they had an underclass but then they all went down to it. The projects I was was working on were later nationalized; then came the Socialists, Communists & dictatorship. It strikes me that their change to a broken nation, with ~1 million % inflation, black market economy, shortages of essentials, unsafe, (and now listed as a DO NOT TRAVEL destination by our Dept. of State) happened in one generation. Lets hope they will recover. Meanwhile WE all in the USA need to WAKE UP. One generation.

If Hussein Obama perfected anything during his 8 year reign of terror, it was his skills as a narcissist.
When he wasn't rappelling out of helicopter, and shooting Obama bin Laden, he was implementing economic policies that were meant to make us suffer for eight year, only to help us after Donald Trump became the potus.
On the other hand, we do have to admire Hussein Obama's courage. Somehow he gets up every morning, and faces another day, knowing that Trump's 2016 victory, wasn't against Krooked Killary, it was against him, and his third term.

In the past, such activities could lead to harsh punishments, like keelhauling. If we only had one today, many would scurry back to their congressional rat holes. The only problem would be deciding which one to punish. Of course, after one, the clamoring for more could lead to a few dozen on any given day.

One thing you can say abut the Democrats - Their evil never quits....

Hopefully Barr will not be Arkansided.

There are quite a bunch of so called conservatives in congress. Where is the outrage? They have all been smeared by this unwashed, nitwit rabble. Why is the double standard going unchallenged? Anybody else sitting in a hearing room, eating fried chicken would have been the world's biggest racist. You know, fried chicken-watermelon-black people. We are headed from the ballot box to the ammo box. There's a bad moon rising. One eye is taken for an eye.

I'd love to see these fuckers start throwing punches like the Korean parliament - I might respect them for that.

I watched the whole thing and all I could think when the dumborats were questioning General Barr that after the three loudest asswipes were finished, they sat there and smiled like 10-year-olds who caught one of their playmates with his or her pants down. These folks scare me with their angry diatribe. I am surprised AG Barr didn't say more in response to their once-in-awhile questions. The basis of this hearing was primarily a format for the Dumboldrats to air their stupidity. Can't wait to see what happens now.

Colby Muenster said...

Good for Mr. Barr for standing the bastards up! He was already subjected to 6 hours of elementary school-like name calling, being denigrated and slandered by people who don't have one tenth of his integrity. What's Nadler going to do, go over to the Justice Department and physically drag Barr to the House chambers, so he can endure another 6 hours of personal attacks? These blights on society all have access to the full Mueller report, but are apparently unable to actually read it. Barr is hiding nothing; this is all just one more big political stunt that the lofo's will eat up.

@Pat Cummings,
And it the spirit of Stilton's very graphic first graphic, how many Congressional Democrats does it take to shingle a roof? Depends on how thin you slice 'em.

Oh! Y'all go over to Doug M's blog (Sondrakistan), and take a look at his photoshop of Cohen eating the chicken.

John the Econ said...

The Democrats cannot let this die. They've got too much invested invested in it and for the last 2+ years everyone in their bubble had just assumed that Mueller would come up with something that could be considered criminal, or at least impeachable. But he didn't, and now they have nothing going into the next election cycle other than the ongoing embarrassment of a fully recovered economy to run against.

So all they can do now is nitpick in vain hopes of killing Trump via a thousand cuts. Barr put up with a day of this transparent abuse and decided that there was no point in a second. Don't blame him.

Oh, and this faux outrage about Barr being in "Contempt of Congress"? Ask Eric Holder about the consequences of that.

So they think it's clever to call Barr a chicken? Actually, the real chicken in this scenario was Mueller. He could have conferred charges on "collusion" as flimsy as they would have been, but he didn't. Why not? Instead to doing the gutsy thing and going for the charge, he instead files his nothingburger report and then sits in the background lobbing inferences that he really believes in collusion and that Trump should be charged, but it should be up to Barr to do it.

There's your chicken.

....As a citizen of the Volunteer State, I'm embarrass by the disgusting actions of the congressman Mr. Cohen!

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Pat Cummings- Q: What do you have when a Congressional Democrat is buried up to his neck in sand? A: Not enough sand.

@Terry- It was really hard to even do today's post because I really am angry. These lowlifes offend me and are a clear and present danger to our nation. I so hope that the full force of law will fall on them.

@M. Mitchell Marmel- We need to see some real "high stakes" punishments to send the signal that this kind of thing is not okay. Examples need to be made.

@rickn8or- Actually, Cohen believed a bikini model was (allegedly) a daughter he hadn't known about owing to an apparent inability to keep track of where his sperm has gone. He was caught texting her during the State of the Union address. DNA testing has now shown she's unrelated to him, which sadly takes a lot of the fun out of an incestuous relationship.

@REM1875- I don't even know if you're kidding or not. Lord knows we SHOULDN'T do that, but we have in the past.

@Fish Out of Water- I am really hoping that Barr is about to produce a flaming sword and start swinging it. And regarding Barry's regrets about Trump winning the election, it's interesting that he pins NONE of the blame on himself, and all of it on Hillary.

@Rod- Thanks for the kind words, Rod. When you read between the lines of my jokes, I'm usually trying to express some pretty serious opinions about issues that genuinely concern me. And I think it's good for all of us to speak out about what we see going on around us.

Your firsthand experience in Venezuela is fascinating, depressing, and educational for those willing to learn from history. I don't doubt how far and how fast we could fall under the wrong governance.

@The Italian Meat Sauce- Obama's major "accomplishments" include suppressing economic recovery, increasing racial division, destabilizing the Mideast, unrelenting support of radical Islam, and the political weaponization of our intelligence agencies. He also basically broke the norms of politics (by running on a cult of personality), opening the door for Donald Trump.

@Jess- All of this sounds like a plan to me.

@Anonymous- I can and do say that about the Democrats.

@Geoff King- Barr (and his family and friends) should be surrounded by armies of protective agents NOW.

@Sortahwitte- I'm not looking for much help from the "conservatives" in Congress. Party labels are largely meaningless these days.

@TrickyRicky- There are definitely some things that don't "taste like chicken."

@CC- You may be right, but Wilde was a pretty good sized guy and I'd like to think that even HE could be pushed to the point of, um, corrective kineticism.

And yes, I'd like to see a real donnybrook bust out in our sacred chambers of government from time to time.

Well, once again, this recent activity is worthy of a "Night of the Long Knives". I would buy tickets to that.

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Desert Rose- Barr had too much class to play the Dems' stupid games. And I'm hoping that he was able to keep his composure by reflecting silently on what he's about to do to the DNC and everyone connected with it.

@Colby Muenster- What the Hell else could the House harassers have asked?! How can Barr be accused of suppressing a report which he has already voluntarily released in its entirety? I'm glad he wouldn't play their game.

And yes, a visit to Sondrakistan.com is good advice every day!

@John the Econ- Well said!

Ever since crazy Mazie said that the reason Democraps have trouble communicating with people's hearts is cuz they're too damned smart, I refer to her as "Oh no Hirono who don't know".

"We have a really hard time doing that and one of the reasons that it was told to me at one of our retreats is that we Democrats know so much. That is true, and we kind of have to tell everybody how smart we are and we have a tendency to be very left-brain," she added, referring to the hemisphere associated with logic and analytical thinking.

Insert Bugs Bunny "What a moroon!" here. Cuz if one can't figure out a way too communicate with people, they surely shouldn't go fooling themselves into believing it's because they're so smart. In fact, I'd say it's just the opposite.

The dems are in a panic. If they cannot shut down the investigations, they must win the Presidency to shut them down. This is an all hands on deck problem that will absolutely skewer them right thru their balls.
Now, has anyone thought about maybe a few congresspersons were in on the Coup attempt?
Has any journalist called all the Republican Presidential contenders and ask them One Question: "Did you know the FBI was spying on your Presidential Campaign?"
This is because I think Senator Cruz did know from his comments at the hearing.
There is no doubt AG Barr has a retentive memory and will judiciously payback the disparaging he suffered. Yes, I too was appalled by the conduct of my fellow Americans that were elected to push this country forward.

Mike aka Proof said...

As far as Ms. Hirono's volcanic qualifications, half the word..."gin" could account for the quality of her commentary!

Stilton, I too share your rage about the treatment of Mr. Barr. My respect for him grew when he refused to play their games and they are furious about it. I am tickled pink, however, that Nadler was denied his televised inquisition. You know he was licking his chops dreaming about his moment in the sun. I truly hope Mr. Barr follows through on his investigation of the investigation and prosecutes those perps who created that subterfuge. People must face the consequences with serious prison time if they are ever to learn their lesson. As of now, they seem to be unable to take their marbles and go home. They are trying to snatch defeat from the jaws of defeat. And Mr. Barr is their new demon in this effort.

Rod said...

I also find it interesting and very questionable that on U.S Department of State's handy-dandy "Color-coded" Map of the World" [sic]: Without digging into more details, it appears that of the quite a few nations on the highest "Don't go" rank AKA "Do not Travel"... The only three that are not primarily Islamic states are currently Venezuela, large parts of Mexico & Haiti. So to fix that restriction I suppose; USA is welcoming people from nearly ALL of them here, via legal entry or not. Set up their own communities even with the Muslims.

mexico was a major market and had quickly depleted it's supply from england.
in june a ship left bristol with a large cargo.
unfortunately an atlantic storm claimed the ship, and it sank a week out of veracruz. this so upset the mexican people, they decided to commemorate the tragedy.

so every year, the entire country celebrates "Sinko De Mayo" !

Cinco de Mayo is not celebrated so much in Mexico as in the USA. Mexicans celebrate 16 September, as that is their "4th of July".
