In our sadly paternalistic culture, the voices of intelligent, independent women are still too little heard when it comes to serious discussion of the issues which confront and divide us.

Well, Stilton's Place won't put up with that sort of sexist crap! Which is why today is Ladies Day in the fast-moving, bareknuckle world of Internet journalism.

And for anyone who thinks we just felt lazy today and thought we could get away with posting pictures of bikini babes, we must remind you that these are "woke" times, and you should never just assume our agenda.

Beautiful! And I don't just mean the babes!

I, for one, am speechless! Unlike the Democrats in tonight's debate who spoke all over themselves.

Jim Irre said...

Two recurring themes: "My son did nothing wrong!" and, "Orange-man bad!" So, do I win for getting it right after having not watched one second of the debate?

I'm riffing on panel A.

Somebody with the time and a good video editing program should be making an ABC News segment for the ages right now.

Weekend Update meets War Of The Worlds.

Pure YouTube viral gold to the first guy that pulls it off well.
ABC Logo/theme music, cut to tape of Ewoks under hang gliders dropping rocks on the Turkish tanks, and then a rampaging T-rex or Godzilla, and you're off to the races.
This stuff rights itself.

Better, you can keep topping the last one every day for a week, and beat it to death.

Careful with your 9excellent!) bikini babes though.
The balloons I was concentrating on at first weren't the ones with the captions.
Maybe if you could put the message on wet t-shirts they wear next time, you could kill two birds, more or less.

I think the pics overloaded my blood sugar with that eye candy.
Now, who won the debate? President Trump easily.
This is telling:
Moody’s found that President Trump wins the 2020 election in three different models.
Trump wins in the “Pocketbook Model” 351 to 187 electoral votes.
Trump wins in the “Stock Market Model” 289 to 249 electoral votes.
Trump wins the “Unemployment Model” 332 to 206 electoral votes.

The dems are running on hate only and I believe the American people have had a belly full of negativism with everything going North. The only bad thing is there are 30 million Hispanic voters in the mix and we are not sure how many of those will illegally vote.

Fred Ciampi said...

I know who did not win the debate; the American people. Of course I didn't watch it, don't have enough eyeball bleach.

Testing, testing. Just upgraded my smartphone and making sure it works. It is a bit larger and the AMOLED display is much more vibrant, making those female gender persons look awesome!

I drove 90 miles just to see the aerial banner. Got within a few blocks of the debate site and turned on a side street to escape the clogged traffic. Two lanes with signs saying no parking this side. All streets in this neighborhood are adorned with those same no parking signs. That was the side of the street with cars parked ON THAT SIDE with no empty spaces. Two way traffic required pulling into driveway gaps to let others squeak by. For Ohio, it is normal behavior to do precisely what any sign forbids. Stay in lane, everyone switches constantly. Construction zone, speed limit reduced, they increase speed, start changing lanes like it was a nascar race. And nobody nohow ever does the speedlimit and tailgates at three feet or less up to 70 mph. I thought three months in LA would prepare me for anything. It was a stunning experience but totally inadequate for Ohio. Guess they don't study or teach physics here. Or driver training either. The highway electronic signs state there are OVER 800 crashes per day in Ohio. I would bet there are far more than that.

The sign was awesome! There was a competing one, smaller but I could never get a clear view of it.

Not having watched any of the debates, nor do I intend to, but it seems the more debates the neo-totalitarians "debate" the more re-electable President Trump becomes.

Pat Cummings said...

@Aesop: Cowbells. It needs more cowbells.

rickn8or said...

I'm going to assume that last night's "debate" followed the usual pattern of "I hate Trump more than you do" and "I can give away more free shit".

John the Econ said...

ABC: No big deal. Decades ago, the left became comfortable with the "It could have happened, and after all that is what is really important here" justification for pretty much any lie the media tells. This rationalization applies to any media exaggeration, fake hate crime, or any lie against a conservative.

Biden: This morning, one of my local TV stations remarked on the Biden story as "baseless". He's on video literally boasting about forcing the Ukrainians to fire the investigator. What more "base" could one possibly need?

I know at least as much about the economics of the energy industry as Hunter Biden ever has. Where's my $50,000-a-month no-show gig?

But if this whole there's nothing out of the ordinary to see here - move along episode has taught us anything, it should be how comfortable Democrats are with their own corruption. "No show" jobs are just assumed in this world. Remember Chelsea Clinton's gig at NBC?

Debate: Who won last night's debate? No question about it: Donald Trump.

I'm kinda tired about hearing people go on about how Donald Trump is supposedly destroying our Constitutional republic from people transparently and proudly promoting their plans to destroy our Constitutional republic.

Actually, I only caught a couple of minutes. Mrs. Econ came down to the office and instead of seeing me agitated, wanted to watch the ball game. I doubt we missed much.

@james daily, no question about it. As long as Trump goes into November with an economy that is better than it was in 2016, he's already won. Meanwhile, the Democrats seem set on their platform of something between "Make America 2009 Again!" and "Make America 1899 Again!".

TrickyRicky said...

@rickn8or- I would have to go way, way out on a limb and agree with you.

Stilton, love the beach shots...so much lovely sand.

Rod said...

@ John the Econ: You say above: "it should be how comfortable Democrats are with their own corruption..." Bingo. Absolutely. It's a basic problem and should be a game stopper.

To that I add: So much of what we are seeing now is just a sample of how incompetent and half-ass they are with actually doing just about everything, even their own top priorities. If they were to prevail we would see much more of this.

rickn8or said...

". "No show" jobs are just assumed in this world. Remember Chelsea Clinton's gig at NBC?"

Remember Moochelle's job at that Chicongo hospital? Her assignment was to keep Medicare and Medicaid patients out of there. She wasn't replaced when Obongo moved to DC because of his new job.

I really badly wanted to watch, but there was a My Mother the Car marathon on.

Let me guess:

Joe 30330 thanked the fine people of Missouri for hosting the event.
Bernie assured everybody that his heart was just fine after his fully taxpayer funded medical procedures.
Warren dodged questions about how 27 trillion dollars could just magically appear.
Buttigeig was there.
Beto put 50 caliber machine guns and 20mm Gatling guns in the same category as 5.56 semi-auto rifles, and used the phrase "one round clip."
Tulsi Gabbard pointed out how OLD all the others were.
Castro denied for the 87th time that he is Fidel's nephew, but praised the Cuban form of government.
Booker tried to prove that he hates Trump the most.
Harris offered free blowjobs to Senators who'd vote to impeach.
Was Williamson there? If so, she probably wished she'd have only dropped one tab of acid.

@Mr. Econ, sir: theys don't know nuttin' about no constitutional republic. Theys think we's got a "democaracy". Whats theys pushin' fo is a "democratcy", though, that bein' to their modern definition o' "democrat" and oe to their liken'...

And it's been the long game they've been playing. They've been molding the minds of the voters for over a hundred years, softening the target until now, where a "majority" of Millenials crave socialism. That majority, of course, having been defined by these things called "polls", which are about as trustworthy as a politician...

james daily said...

I came across an interesting piece. The reason that the dems and rep do not want the Uquarine fraud opened up is that our politicians are also getting kickbacks from other countries that we send foreign aid. So, there is no telling how many politicians kids are on the dole of other countries. This is a can of worms that they do not want to open. True? I have no idea but I think the odds of that is about 100%.

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Mike aka Proof- Yeah, but the babes help a lot.

@Jim G.- How I wish the Dems were speechless!

@Jim Irre- Wow, that's amazing! How are you with stock tips?

@Aesop- I wish I had the video skills to pull off what you're suggesting. It would be fun!

@james daily- You're quite right that the Dems are running on "hate only," and it isn't pretty.

@Fred Ciampi- I didn't watch it either. I'm already maxed out on my meds (grin).

@Rod- Thanks!

@M. Mitchell Marmel- Glad it didn't rub you the wrong way.

@Geoff King- I don't want to put your phone down, but the female gender persons already looked pretty awesome.

@Lonnie Albertson- Sounds like you had quite an adventure. Glad you got to see the banner!

@Fish Out of Water- I certainly don't think the debates (or these candidates) are swaying any independents or even marginal Trump supporters. "We hate Trump and will raise your taxes" just isn't a winning battle cry.

@Pat Cummings- But in truth, doesn't everything need more cowbells?

@rickn8or- The media reports I've seen confirm your assumption.

@John the Econ- You're quite right about the "yeah, but it could have happened" factor being the current low bar for (ahem) "journalism." Regarding the Bidens, I doubt any laws were broken and the "corruption" was of the size and style practiced by every high-ranking politician in Washington. Money just magically flows to family members and, in return, politicians are just magically nice to the people paying out that money. It stinks, but no one but Trump is going to pursue this because so many (on both sides) are guilty of the same thing.

@TrickyRicky- Well, you know what they say: "Life's a beach and then you dry."

@Rod- I agree that this sort of corruption should be a game stopper, but who is there to pursue it?

@rickn8or- The list could go on and on. It's all high-paying incest.

@REM1875- I was happy about the "getting on a board" gag myself. It almost made it seem like there was more than just salacious content today (grin).

@Old Cannonballs- Well that goes without saying.

@Colby Muenster- I didn't see the debate, but I've decided to accept your version as official.

@Sortahwitte- It's not hard to look moderate (or sane) when in the company of that pack of radical, anti-American nincompoops. But you're right, that doesn't make Tulsi a reasonable candidate.

@Emmentaler "Welcome to the Plantation" Limburger- It really is disturbing that socialism is gaining popularity among the young and ignorant. The whole idea of elections sort of takes a beating when you have a misinformed and misguided electorate.

@james daily- I don't doubt it a bit.

@Dan- Round up the usual suspects...

MAJ Arkay said...

I never watch Demmi debates. If I want to watch a horror show, I'll watch a Hammer vampire film. At least they have plots--and fairly decent music.

Pat Cummings said...

And bloodsuckers, @MAJ Arkay. They both have that.

@Stilton Jarlsberg: Maybe we should promote a "drinking-game" alternate for debate audiences. They come with Bossie-bells hidden on their persons, then every time a Demn candidate tells a lie or spins the truth, clang them a dozen times. Or more.

Because you're right—everything needs more cowbells!

News: Elijah Cummings is dead. The story may be that Trump killed him; or at least "Whitey" finally did. I'm thinking it was something else.

@Rod & @james daily, as time goes on, we're learning that the Ukraine was a virtual playground for friends and family and money changing hands tied to aid. And largely during the "scandal-free" Obama era. Go figure.

And as @Stilton points out, of course "no laws were broken". This is how business has been done for ages. It's how the political elite funds itself and its friends. It's why the elite media, complicit of their tolerance of all of this just as they used to be complicit with swimming with JFK's whores don't find any of it a big deal. Unless, of course, Trump moves to expose it.

@rickn8or, yes. Over $300k for a job that was so vital that the position disappeared once Barack was elected President. I guess Michelle was totally irreplaceable.

@Colby Muenster, thanks for the summary. That was far more succinct that the version in the New York Times.

@Sortahwitte, Tulsi needs ways to differentiate herself from the other women. She knows the standard option of going further left and promising more "free" stuff is pretty pointless, so trying to out-moderate slo-Joe is the way to go. I honestly don't know how much of her shtick to buy. Being a "moderate" on that stage doesn't take much.

@Emmentaler "Welcome To The Plantation" Limburger, they honestly believe that putting the word "democracy" or "democratic" in front of the transparent socialism and fascism they are peddling will do the trick.

"Democracy" is just the polite word for "mob rule". That's why we're a "Constitutional Republic".

And of course, if and when Trump wins in a landslide, they'll again decide that "democracy" isn't great after all.

Pat Cummings said...

@John the Econ: After the coming re-election—sorry, the election—is over, they'll go back to the same-old, same-old. With an honest election process, the Demns will also lose the House, and any chance of continuing the impeachment drumbeat.

@all: If you want an enjoyable read, get Mike Rowe's book The Way I Heard It. My spouse is getting quite tired of listening to me read chunks of it aloud because "this bit is SO good." P.S. You'll learn of Mike's operatic history and his relationship with Joan Rivers.

@anonymous,
It sounds so ludicrous, but I won't be surprised when I see the first "Trump killed Cummings" headline (if it hasn't happened already).

@John the Econ,
First, thanks for the compliment, but will say, beating out the New York Times in the accuracy category is not much of an accomplishment!

I cringe every time I heard a progressive whining that Trump is "destroying democracy!" A) We don't (thank God) have a democracy, and B) If we did, huzzah if Trump tried to destroy it!

as he used Nancy (he calls her "Mom") in a video promoting clean energy as he was not registered as a lobbyist. Then again, only the GOP has to register as they let the Dems unregistered skate. Of course, I could be off base here, but that is my taking on this whole mess.

I read something about Elijah Cummings and how someone once told him he'd never be a lawyer. He then put in the necessary hard work to get the education and yes, become a lawyer. How someone could do the work and achieve the position on his own and still be a Demo_Rat is beyond me.

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@JustaJeepGuy- No question that Cummings had a lot to overcome and did so, which is laudible. Unfortunately, the surest way to political power amongst the Democrats involves the equivalent of selling your soul, which Cummings did with apparent enthusiasm. I take no pleasure in his death, but am glad he's no longer part of a corrupt system.
