stilton’s place, stilton, political, humor, conservative, cartoons, jokes, hope n’ change, pessimism man, blm, mobs, msm, big lebowski

Sometimes there's a man...we won't say a hero, 'cause what's a hero? But sometimes, there's a man, well, he's the man for his time and place. He fits right in there. And with apologies to the Coen Brothers and "The Big Lebowski," at this time and place, it's Pessimism Man.

Granted, like all superheroes, he just does his thing and quickly departs - for which we can all be grateful. But he paid us a visit earlier today, which sort of derailed our train of thought for anything very useful.

See, the news was already just godawful no matter what direction you look in, but at least we felt fairly secure here at home. Then, over our morning coffee, we noticed that our quiet little residential street was teeming with speeding traffic. But why? It turns out that they were all detouring from our nearest major intersection, which had been closed off after an "incident."

Specifically, there was a car crash (which didn't look too major), and a helpful police officer arrived on the scene and went to check on the occupants of the cars. The driver of the first car jumped out and stabbed him. The officer fell back, and the driver then rushed to the other car and started stabbing its driver. Lacking a Rapid Response Social Worker on scene, the officer shot the offender - who died at the scene.

We don't know the race of any of the people involved, and it wouldn't make any difference to us anyway (though it might to mobs). It was a horrible event, and the police officer acted appropriately to save a life.

With this gloomy cloud hovering our head (and an unending parade of cars roaring past our home), we at least tried to come up with a topical cartoon or two, but couldn't conjure anything which wouldn't get our house burned down.

An especially dangerous proposition when you've stockpiled as many flammable bottles of Clan MacAccelerant as we have.

Thanks for hanging in there...I read about the incident in other media, to hear that it happened so near to you makes it a bit more real, and a lot more distressing and sad...

I sympathize. I live on a street that's at the outer edge of the "largely peaceful protests," and two or three nights a week the mobs come shouting past my home. The backed-up traffic inches along slowly behind them, the drivers not having any safer available detours and not daring even to honk their horns, let alone confront the mobs, lest they be killed. Thank God the largely peaceful protesters haven't broken or burned anything on my block yet. But the morning after one of the earlier largely peaceful protests, I found out that the largely peaceful protesters had broken out the windows of a funeral home a few blocks away. A funeral home. The one, in fact, from which my mother was buried. Where mourners go to grieve for their dead. And these largely peaceful protesters were shouting about their outrage at the death of George Floyd. Apparently, trashing funeral homes is the new way of mourning for the dead.

The incident as described reminds me there are people out here among us, who shouldn't be out there among us.

Nothing witty in my response... I just caught up on a few days of Stilton and continue to be amazed at how you capture the absurdity of the direction of our country. I never thought I'd see the day anarchists would be allowed to run rampant in our streets, domestic terrorists bent solely on destruction. Their empty lives would be better served working out ways to improve our society, not tear it down. I truly enjoyed your dad's sweet cartoons illustrating that attitude can change lives. He certainly passed on his creative genes. Thank you EVERY day for your genius shining a light on idiocy.

I feel that the time has passed for massive government interference to stop all of the so called protests. They are bringing in national guard troops to stop the rioters in DC. But the troops are unarmed. Not even pepper spray! That's about as useless as sending in first graders. The guard are outnumbered one hundred to one. There are laws against making threats against people and property. There are also laws against inciting to riot. It's about time those laws are enforced. With extreme prejudice if necessary. And certain politicians aren't any help either. Other than extreme force I don't see a happy ending to where our country is heading. May God Bless America. Thank goodness for Clan MacMoonshine.

@ Fred: Sure, a 'whiff of grapeshot' or # 7 buckshot might do the trick- temporarily, but keep in mind that sort of reaction is just what these insurrectionists (not protesters) want-this is what they are increasingly trying to PROVOKE.

Think waaaay back to our history an the Boston Massacre and the effects that had. So why play into their hands

A very gloomy cloud hovering over our head considering that Dementia Joe (and his caretakers) has the 2020 election wrapped up, according to CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, New York Times, WAPO, Joy Behar, Hollywood, US Congress, etc.

Snark said...

PDJT is caught between two hard spots, put there deliberately by the Marxist Morons of the dhemicrat party. If he stomps on the rioters he will likely have a Kent State incident. While deserving and appropriate, it's bad optics. If he does nothing then he's viewed as impotent and weak, undeserving of his position. The liberal idiots (please excuse the redundancy) running the asylums where the rioters are burning everything have refused the help. Without invoking the riot act, all he can do is point out that they are the ones responsible, not him. Methinks that it's time to resurrect the fire hoses and water cannons. These scumbags have no memory of the '60's marches and riots (and refuse to even consider learning some history) so such tools would be a new revelation to them. Such might even flush out the streets. There are other non-lethal devices that have been developed - things that produce significant discomfort and nausea without invoking actual harm. I think a demonstration of these is past due.

The revolutionaries are most certainly trying to goad President Trump into a hard-line reaction to the anarchy in our streets, which would be entirely appropriate in my estimation. I hope that he can avoid this trap, win re-election, and sweep out the subversives when they explode in raging TDS as his second term commences.

I can't imagine being a police officer in this environment. I have a part time job at a place that works with the Sheriff's department on various projects and I have the honor of being able to tell them how much my family and I appreciate them. Attacking an officer in any way as well as resisting arrest need to be classified as the most extreme felonies with swift punishment.

Maybe a casting call for art models would help your attitude. I'm sure your wife would understand that this is for the business.

I have been a fan for years, but yet to post. I guess I am part of the "silent majority".

I wanted to make you aware of a group that I have been volunteering with for a while now. I am a District Captain for The Convention Of States. Our goal is to limit the scope of federal outreach, demand fiscal responsibility, set term limits for the house and senate, and have a balanced budget. But more importantly put the power of our constitutional republic back in the hands of We The People.

I have never asked for a shameless plug before, but since we won a MAJOR victory in my home state of Michigan this past Thursday, I feel compelled to shout it from the rafters.."THERE IS HOPE..!!"

Mr. Stilton, please allow your followers to check out our website and sign our petition. We are NOT calling for a Constitutional Convention, but an Article 5 Convention of States. HUGE difference.

Please take a look, and hopefully support us and our endeavor. I only ask that you check it out, and if you deem us worthy of your platform... a word of support would help a lot. www.cosaction.com is the site. We can always use another supporter, no money needed...lol.

Thank you, and FOR LIBERTY..!!

@Stilton,
Thanks for posting despite the ongoing distractions. The lunatics are no longer in the hall; they are just down the damn street!

@Section147,
Great advice!

@Freedom Monger,
I for one hope you post here daily, and fully support the effort. It is far past time to reel in the self serving pinheads that claim to represent us. Get the power back to the states and the people like the founders intended. Near as I can tell, the federal gubmint should only serve one purpose, and that is to protect us from the enemy (both foreign and domestic). Failure on both counts....

". . .keep in mind that sort of reaction is just what these insurrectionists (not protesters) want-this is what they are increasingly trying to PROVOKE."

Neville Chamberlain was a member of the conservative party of his day. How did his attempts at appeasement and not reacting to the provocation of Adolph Hitler work out?

I respectfully disagree with the idea that we patriotic conservative Americans must "play nice" with these domestic terrorists. Fred Ciampi is correct, IMO, that they must be stopped NOW, not later; even if it means patriotic citizens forming militias and working with the military to take our country back!

Shelly said...

My daughter and I were discussing this incident since it is near our homes too and I made the assumption the assailant was a white woman. It's either the parties are all white which doesn't rate in the MSM or that the assailant was black and they are afraid to publish that fact so as not to bring the national mob to our peaceful city. I sincerely pray that doesn't happen to us.

Geoff King said...

Oh, how I long for the good old days. You know, way back when Asian Murder Hornets invading our country was the scariest thing in the news?!
Ok, maybe it wasn't actually "days", but they did manage to distract us from the rest of the insanity for at least 15 minutes.

@Fish Out of Water, @TrickyRicky, and @American Cowboy, You are all correct that the "antifa" ("anti-fascists" using typical fascist tactics and nobody calls them on it?) and BLM and their ilk are trying to provoke an excessive response. That is an old tried-and-true communist tactic. I don't know if it usually works--or has ever worked--but it is a trick that identifies the source.

Another communist dirty trick has been used in many of the protests-that-cover-for-riots is to put the "non-violent" protesters close to the police lines and use them as human shields for the violent rioters. It's a despicable trick that would never work if the MSM weren't on the side of the terrorists.

One of these days, the commies will push just that much too far and they will be punished by true patriots. The commies think that means they win. We'll see.

Freedom Monger said...

Sadly.. I must concur.

There's a fight on the horizon, and it's closing in. It will be brief... it will be brutal... it will be merciless.

The right to choose is all American. The right to fight tyranny is innate also. We all know how it's going to end. Unfortunately there will be loss of life... but they chose. We just will oblige them.

For Patriots..!!

@Old Cannonballs- I don't specifically remember that strip, although it certainly sounds like me...

@Sam- Regarding that incident, the innocent lived and the guilty didn't, so that's all to the good. It was just weird at a time when I wasn't feeling up to any additional weirdness in the world!

@M. Mitchell Marmel- Oh, I'm fine. But baseline stress is pretty high for all of us these days, and this incident just took me out of my creative place for the day.

@Phoebe- I'm trying to think of what takes less courage than attacking a funeral home, and I haven't summoned anything up yet. These assholes really need to be swept from the streets.

@Fish Out of Water- Sadly, they're out there. Happily, so are the good guys.

@Bobo the Hobo- I also find there are health benefits to alternating between hot and cold. The news makes me hot, then I have a cold drink. Repeat as necessary.

@Susan Fineman- What a nice comment! Thank you! And I agree that I'd like to see what these vile little troublemakers could actually build if given the opportunity. My guess is nothing.

@Fred Ciampi- We're on the same page. When Mrs. J and I were watching the news, we had to pause it and rewind to make sure we'd really heard correctly that the National Guard troops would be unarmed. That's insanity.

@McChuck- Exactly. Every time I hear "mostly" peaceful I know that some serious hell was actually raised.

@Fish Out of Water- You're right that this is a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" scenario. There's no question that the (ahem) "brains" behind these mobs would like to get their followers shot for political benefit.

@Anonymous- Things happen so quickly and unexpectedly these days that I'm not giving the election to Biden - or Trump - at this point. But I have to concede at this moment that things don't look good for Trump.

@Snark- Well said, and I agree completely. It's time to deploy interesting technologies to clear the streets. Water cannons are good, water cannons with indelible dye even better, "banana peel" spray (makes it impossible to stand or walk), microwave skin scorchers, sonic weapons, etc.

@TrickyRicky- I hope those things too, though am hazy on how they can come to pass.

@Kencor- I really worry about what will be happening to our police departments in the current insanity. Moral has got to be awful. And I know that cops are resigning - but who will be signing up, and what kind of people will they be?

@NaCly Dog- Busty would have been welcome, but I didn't want to expose her to my grumpiness. As far as putting out a casting call for additional models, I'm afraid that the law would now require me to consider applicants of any and every gender and gender identification.

@Snark- Yeah, that's how it feels.

@Section147- Does "National Geographic" count as an extra magazine?

@Unknown- World's saddest fortune cookie.

@John the Econ- As of today (Saturday) we still don't know if drugs were involved, though we know that the stabber was a 27 year old woman who was driving a stolen car. What a world.

@Pat Cummings- "Flamible"?! Thanks for the correction. Time for me to start reading brochures for dementia care...

@Freedom Monger- Great hearing from you! I happily endorse your site and cause, and have added a link in my sidebar to your website. I'll also post a link on Facebook. Keep us up to date, and keep posting here!

@Colby Muenster- Yep, the barbarians are at the gate.

@American Cowboy- I agree that something has to give, and soon. If governments (federal and local) allow anarchy in the streets, then the solutions you mention are pretty much inevitable.

@Shelly- I hate the fact (and it IS a fact) that the races are considered as important (or more) than the actions when evaluating incidents like this. I believe, but don't know for a fact, that the assailant may have been Hispanic. So as far as I know, mobs won't be burning down the businesses in that area. By the way, there are multiple banks at the intersection where this happened, so I'm guessing there's ample video - even beyond what the officer's body cam and witnesses caught.

@Geoff King- Yeah, Asian Murder Hornets sound downright adorable compared to the rest of what's going on.

@Fritzchen- Of course, when it comes to "things could be worse...and will be," no one is more of an expert than our own "Johnny Optimism." And I expect to have some fun news to announce soon about our long-suffering but good natured boy and his dog.

@Snark- Why choose between antipsychotic drugs and mescaline? What's wrong with a buffet of psychoactive treats?

@JustaJeepGuy- I'm afraid we're likely to see how that scenario actually plays out.

@Freedom Monger- I hope it doesn't come to that. But "hope" just ain't what it used to be.

@Fish Out of Water- Well, Ho-ly crap. On the other hand, this is more proof that Donald Trump is creating jobs.

Just checked in to catch up; but I missed all last week while elsewhere doing other stuff. Didn't follow the news either; good thing, that. Two comments:

If attending violent, destructive, occupying street demonstrations any time in the near future: it's suggested carrying & using a megaphone is a poor idea. One might as well wear a Target shirt.

And How the Hell did the progressive, activist, Antifa, Trump-haters arrange the Saharan desert sand storm? That is impressive. Joe: Take credit; don't even try to blame Trump.

Freedom Monger - please elaborate, I LIVE here and on't know what you mean...
Then again, I've been distracted...

- Hi, this is Nathan, with the MI Democratic party, how are you doing?
>Well, Dad's got cancer, Mom's falling down and her brain is unwinding, but it could be worse - I could be a morally deficient Democrat fucktard...
>click<
I kind of actually needed that...
And yes, true about the parents, it's likely to be pretty much shit for the rest of the year, but 1) saw it coming, and family has been making a point to enjoy them for the past year or so, 2) it probably won't drag on... Well wishes assumed, prayers welcome, no need to waste bandwidth here.
