Cannonball Kaepernick
Just in time for the 4th of July, Colin Kaepernick and Nike have again declared themselves to be anti-American scumbags who don't deserve another moment's attention or another dime in revenue.
Specifically, Nike had planned to release a new line of patriotically-themed shoes on Independence Day. The red, white, and blue shoes were emblazoned with small replicas of the original Betsy Ross American flag, and looked great. Or we should say, they looked great to troglodytes like us who are insufficiently "woke."
Because Nike spokesman Colin Kaepernick found the shoes deeply offensive, since slavery was still allowed in the United States at the same time Betsy Ross agreed to sew the flag instead of "taking the knee" and getting herself a lucrative endorsement deal.
Nike wasted a perfectly good and long overdue opportunity to tell Kaepernick to STFU, and instead recalled every pair of shoes (and will no doubt sell them overseas in the many countries that haven't abolished slavery).
Happily, Nike got an immediate smackdown for their asinine behavior: the Governor of Arizona immediately rescinded $2 million in tax breaks and perks which had been offered to the shoemakers as an enticement to build a new factory in the state.
Now that's the kind of fireworks we enjoy seeing!
FROM THE INDEPENDENCE DAY VAULT...
Here's hoping that you, your family, and friends enjoy a great flag-waving Indepence Day!

Cannonball Kaepernick is the right caliber for the job. Your idea would be a net gain for the country!
Happy Independence Day to all!
That was a near thing! Colon K came so dangerously close to fading into oblivion due to lack of exposure.
Personally, I would like to see the PGA players drop Nike.
On Kaepernick, he has been out of a job for three years and will probably never get another one. His stats were really bad. I cannot feel sorry for a person that has a load of talent and waste it for feel good reasons so tough sheit buddy.
At first I decided (long ago) that I would never buy another nike product. But now I will not even shop at a store that carries nike products. And three cheers for Arizona. And, did I read that nike products are primarily made in China? By workers making 25 cents an hour?
Nothing says "I hate America" like dancing to Kaepernick's tune; Nike is definitely following his lead.
Long ago I refused to wear any clothing emblazoned with a company name or logo unless they gave it to me for free and agreed to pay me a monthly commission for advertising their product. Therefore, I have never donned anything Nike.
Kudos to our Governor Ducey.
Happy 4th of July, Stilt, and all the Stilton's Place "Gang"
@James Daily: I had thought it was/is the woman he's with who has put him up to this "progressive " jackassery.
Fish, I wouldn't be surprised if his "woman" was Frederica Wilson, the member of the U.S. House of Representatives who just announced that anyone who makes fun of politicians should be arrested and prosecuted (I'm not making this up).
1. Freiheit uber Alles!
2. Fuck Colon Kaepernick, Nike, & Frederica Wilson.
3. Fly the Gadsden Flag on the 4th.

I advise Nike on possible new logo.

Wishing my fellow conservatives a Happy Independence Day!
And a miserable in Depends day to the whiny asses across the aisle.
Fred Ciampi, it is my fervent hope the Nike boardmembers have to cut every one of Those Raciss Shoes up and eat them for breakfast.
I hope some great entrepreneurs are cranking out 13 star flags. I'd put on on my car, and even wear a tee shirt showing it. I sense a backlash coming.
I'd like to see other pols and companies grow a pair like Ducey did.
My initial knee-jerk reaction to Kaepernick and Nike's latest insanity was to ask Nike shareholders just who is running their company; The board they elected, the CEO they hired, or their overpaid spokeshole? Then I had breakfast and increased the calories available to my brain.
This whole s***show is just too well timed, contrived, and perfect. I don't know what the precise strategy is here, but the end result is lots of free attention for Kaepernick and Nike. My guess is that like many other companies that have decided to hop on the Progressive narrative bandwagon, Nike has done the math and decided that the number of clueless millennials willing to pay hundreds of dollars for politically correct shoes far outnumber the people who don't give a damn but who do love their country.
Like most of the SJW world today, Kaepernick is a self-serving ass who having failed as a professional football player has found a second act as a provocateur. As such, he continues to get to make millions of dollars while wrapping himself in a morally superior patina of phony social justice. He's really not worth our attention.
Happy Fourth to my fellow America-loving friends here. It gives me relief to know that you people exist that understand why America is great as opposed to losers like Kaepernick who only know how to leech of America's wealth why contributing nothing to its greatness.
@Geoff King, I share that attitude. (Ironically, at this moment I'm wearing a fleece sweater with a corporate logo on it, but it was given to me by one of my clients, so I literally have been paid to do so!)
@Fish Out of Water, yes, it was a woman that shoved him into it. But I think she's gone, and once he figured out he could make more money doing jackassery without having to go to practices or getting concussions, he found it a rather sweet deal.
@Alfonso Bedoya, oh yes, Frederica Wilson. Another example of several of my maxims:
The ever hardening bigotry of low expectations.
and
Remind me again just who the real fascists in America are.
Could you imagine the Progressive & media uproar had Trump or any other Republican said such a thing?
Happy Independence Day to all. May we remain relatively free for another year.
BTW, here is a link to Nine Line's Betsy Ross T-shirt. I'll be ordering one today.

John the Econ: Actually, Nike and the pathetic never was been, have created an instant collectable. Somewhere, some retailer, or some enterprising person along the transportation chain, will hold back X number of pairs to be offered to the highest bidder.
And yes, agree with you about who is running the company. Think about the $$$$$$$$$ spent in product development, lining up suppliers and then the company making them (and what about contractual obilgations?), all gone to hell in a self righteous fit of SJW.
I'm inclined to agree with Mr. Econ. It reeks of publicity stunt. If not, they should consider running every future product design before the de facto "person" who is running their company. Or lose money, I really don't give a crap. The real tragedy is how these subversives are given a platform to destroy our heritage and, ergo, our nation. There has to be a tipping point soon.
Normally attire manufacturers don't toss away or destroy unwanted product. They donate them to residents of foreign lands (or sell them at a steep discount).
You'll be seeing the Betsy Ross nikes in third world places, worn by indigenous persons also sporting President Hillary t-shirts.
@Mike aka Proof- Well, there go all the good puns... (grin)
@Dan- Indeed!
@rickn8or- I've heard speculation that this whole thing was a stunt by Nike to put Kaepernick in the spotlight again. I'm skeptical, but these days you never know.
@james daily- I think Kaepernick could have done much more good for his cause if he continued playing, put much of his hefty paycheck into the issues he believes in, and trying to spread a message which wasn't so exclusionary and hateful.
@Gpa J- That's actually the best response to this nonsense.
@Fred Ciampi- Nike indeed pays crap wages to the Asians who make their shoes. The figure of 20¢ an hour was accurate in the 90's for workers in Vietnam. Wages have gone up since then, and some workers earn as much as $1.60 an hour. Which translates to $100 a week for a 6-day 60-hour work week. Yet Kaepernick happily takes millions from Nikes for doing nothing but being an asshole and, if I may be so bold, a token spokesman.
@jpb252- Sadly, this doesn't seem to be hurting Nike at all. Apparently it's the privileged social justice warriors who can afford their shoes, and actually like the anti-American, pro-Progressivism company policies.
@Geoff King- I wear clothing with logos, but none that anyone would recognize because I'm such a cheapskate. Well, if I drop my trousers, people could read "Jockey" on the waistband of my briefs. Other than that, no real brand names.
@Fritzchen- And right back at you!
@Fish Out of Water- I think you've captured the very essence of this situation with the word "pathetic." And did a femme fatale inspire all of this "woke-ness" in Kaepernick? I'll have to look into that.
@Alfonso Bedoya- Frederica Wilson says it should be illegal to mock politicians online, then she wears a day-glo hot pink sequined cowboy suit with matching hat to work.
@_revjen45- Well said!
@Jason Anyone- From a swoosh to a flush! I like it!
@rickn8or- Nike stockholders should be asking just how much money was spent on the production and distribution of those shoes, and if Colin Kaepernick is now in charge of approving all designs? As for the shoes themselves, they'll either be destroyed or shipped overseas.
@Will Hepburn- I wish I could grab one of those flags to put in front of my house tomorrow!
@John the Econ- Expert analysis of the Kaepernick situation and I suspect you're very close to the truth on all counts. Regarding Frederica Wilson, let us not forget that Obama's White House declared that his official photos could not be altered in any way (under penalty of law!) because they were sick of memes. Of course, I did a cartoon and post about it at the time.
@TrickyRicky- I'm pretty sure we'll remain at least relatively free as long as Trump is President. After that...? And thanks for the link to the shirt!
@Fish Out of Water- You're right that any pairs of those shoes that are sold as collectables are going to be worth a pretty penny.
@Shelly- It could easily be a publicity stunt, but it could just as easily be yet another example of Hanlon's Razor: "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."
@Dan- I hope those shoes DO end up getting worn by someone somewhere. And damn, I'd buy an authentic President Hillary t-shirt right now! It's easier than keeping 100 rolls of Charmin in my emergency supplies...
I have a package of Nike socks that I refuse to wear but rather keep them handy in case the dog has an accident in the house and also use them when cleaning firearms. I'm happy with the Arizona Governor for his decision.
jack
For the record, I'm a Tred-Safe man, myself. Any color you want, long as it's black.
>>@Jason Anyone- From a swoosh to a flush! I like it!
"Fluush". I wanted to make it look like it rhymes with swoosh. :-)
Happy 4th!
Nyet net colon !!!
And remember if ya manage to stick it out for the the full 8 seconds on freto-rick wilson you get buckle ......and a hat .........
I always remind people to say "Happy INDEPENDENCE Day" and not "Happy 4th of July" because the government NEEDS to be reminded of what we celebrate on July 4th: INDEPENDENCE from our original governmental overlords. Sadly, too many "Americans" are quite happy to be under the government's thumb. A new Revolution would be a good thing for true Americans and the sheeple should be kicked out of the country. They're no help.
The spirit of the late senator Barry Goldwater is alive and well in Arizona !
Happy July 4th to all the board readers and posters and especially our fearless leader Stilt and his family. Now, to wait on watching our President give a great speech about American greatness today. Hopefully Mike Dukakis will not be driving a tank today. I still laugh at that picture (but I cannot find it on google). A big shout out to all the military especially CPO Eddie Gallagher whom this country has done wrong. What is important is that President Trump was keeping up with that and I suspect he is waiting in the wings to right a very wrong of a decorated bona fide hero.
Happy INDEPENDENCE day to all here. Keep the barrel clean and the powder dry.
Get the word out. Nike was a nuclear interceptor. That swoosh is missile exhaust...
Sell that line and no one wears Nike.
Was at a gathering last night, and a woman who spends more time in more places on the internet than I do, claimed that 'white supremacists' have indeed 'claimed' the Ross flag, so Colon Crappydick apparently actually has a point, of sorts. Fine. Roll over, give in, the terrorists win, and this is why we can't have nice things. Stinking racists.
@Pete (Detroit), this is how they now operate. Simply say that the enemy has appropriated this or that and get it banned. (Remember the "OK" sign?)
This could be a tool. What Progressive icons can we appropriate as symbols of white supremacy? Now that we understand the game, it could be fun.
Okay, but I grew up in Texas and I love a good mariachi band, most of whom are Texans, too.
