All of this puts us in mind of the similar case in which Nidal Hassan shot up Fort Hood... the investigation of which subsequently revealed the number of warnings that had been overlooked.
That being the case, we're revisiting this post from exactly 8 years ago today (Dec 9, 2011)...
Obama's Department of Defense (which, apparently, is interested primarily in defending Obama) has now officially declared that the Fort Hood Massacre in which Major Nidal Hassan killed 13 soldiers and wounded 30 more while screaming "Allahu Akbar!" was an incident of "workplace violence" unrelated to terrorism or radical Islam.
Despite the fact that Hassan had been talking openly about his belief that the "infidels" around him should have their heads cut off and boiling oil poured down their throats (as outlined in the Koran), the poor bastard just went postal one day for no reason at all.
Which makes it a bit confusing about why Barack Obama gave the go-ahead to send a hellfire missile up the ass of Hassan's computer pen-pal, American born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki. The justification given at the time was that al-Awlaki "repeatedly called on individuals in the United States and around the globe to kill innocent men, women and children to advance a murderous agenda."
But if he didn't do that when swapping tweets with Nidal Hassan, who did he influence? Or, if his correspondence did cause others to commit acts of terror, how exactly can those acts be differentiated from the Allah-shouting, soldier-murdering "workplace violence" committed by Hassan?
Words mean something - a point which was made quite clearly to al-Awlaki, but which still seems to elude many in Washington who refuse to say things like "terror" or "radical Islam" no matter how high the cost in national security or lives.
And while we're on the subject, honor means something too. And by dismissing the Fort Hood Massacre as nothing more than a bad day at the office, the Obama Administration dishonors not only the dead and fallen of Fort Hood...but every American in uniform who has fought or died in the ongoing, and very real, War on Terror.
The Saudis have officially expressed regret and outrage already.
Still, one has to wonder:
With friends like these, do we really need enemies?
As a retired military family we usually enjoy visiting military bases on our vacations but after what happened in Hi and Fla last week (Salute to the the wounded and the families of those killed both military and civilians) we have replaced visit Navy bases with nekid shark feeding (honestly I don't know how to tell if they are nekid or not) Building paragliding and wearing MAGA hats while walking in Portland. Dancing barefoot down the sidewalks of San Francisco still keeps slip-sliding to the bottom though.
Yes I am whimping out in my old age for which I'll gladly pay you back a hamburger on Tuesday.
@M. Mitchell Marmel - the Saudis are not our friends.
Saw a report that said this a-hole obtained the firearm legally. How is it that a foreign national from the middle east can obtain a gun legally? Have we learned nothing?
REM - clearly, we need to end the 'Military bases are gun free zones' policy
Jim - Apparently there's a hunting license loophole, tho what a hunting license has to do w/ a hand gun, I don't know...
What's going to happen when one of these terrorists finish their training, get into a fully armed FA-18 and head for DC? Or some other target rich location? Provided, of course, that he can wait that long. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Pete depressed in detroit : )
Absolute we need to end gun free on bases. The US military has been one of the most anti 2A,
anti gun groups in the US for decades ...... People do not know that. It does not fit the picture but it is a fact .
If i remember correctly, Obama's decision had a monetary effect on the surviving families of military people cut down. Workplace violence is not the same as being part of a war and dying on active duty during war. The word had to be changed, with the families having fought for it before they could receive the benefits.
ALL those shot in Fla need Purple Hearts and Combat Action Ribbons at a minimum .... They died fighting an enemy of the US. (and no not Saudi Arabia but radical muslims) This was not work place violence !!!
Islam is incompatible with Any civilization, including their own.
We only have 1300 years of evidence.
If anyone doubts it just type in the following phrase:
"Terrorist attacks in November 2019" and look for all of the evil white supremacist attacks that happened last month.
Just how high will they have to stack the bodies before we will come to realize that they are serious and we are Not?
Islam is Evil.
I have not and will not forget that a lot of this deep-state malfeasance really picked up during the Clinton-Obama years.
But going way back to early 70's and my first employment in professional career: We (a lot of us) designed & constructed the Trans-Alaska Pipeline as one of many responses to the Arab Oil embargo. I stayed with that engineering company a while longer when we all thought we would soon be constructing a large GAS PIPELINE to parallel the TAPS. Never happened.
But one of several "Lower-48" assignments that year-in-waiting was to support an aerial photo and survey-mapping effort to develop military bases & oil cites in Saudi Arabia. Why? We were a service contractor to US Corps of Engineers, and US was helping Saudi Arabia by having the US Army Corps of Engineers do overall projects management for them. I disliked that idea and refused to go to S.Arabia then or later. I soon left that employer with thanks for a great 5 years, and went directly to a major US domestic oil company.
ALL those majors soon developed into world market players but only recently now (and TRUMP has helped seal the deal): USA has finally achieved US oil & gas independence. This kind of long-term stuff matters. With Obama and a lot of other fools in charge, USA did a bad-idea 180 degree turn with America and in many ways we have not yet turned back around from that misdirection.
Meanwhile with world help, S. Arabia has constructed new huge petroleum & chemical plants the size of cities to keep that industry overseas in their turf. Fortunately IMO: if ever need be, USA has B-1's, B-2's & missiles that can take those big targets out in hours.
Many current world projects are being done overseas now and friends of mine are in a position to directly see how technically screwed up they can get. Our military may not even be needed if insane Islamic Terrorists ever get control.
America needs a Night Of The Long knives ( lasting however long it takes) regarding anti-American activities, including those of ANY muslim, cartel, or Democrat party activities.
So the 7th century death cult strikes again? Nothing to see here, move along.
@MSG Grumpy- I suggest bypassing the Wikipedia slant and go here for the real numbers:
Islam is not a religion. Islam is an ideology based upon deception, terror, pedophilia, misogyny, slavery, robbery and murder. It uses worship to masquerade as religion. This is the greatest deception perpetrated upon humanity. Until the world - and especially the brain dead progressives - wake up to this reality, the terror will continue. Moslems have been at war with the rest of the world since Mo-ham-head began raiding caravans in the 7th century. Reality is a bitch. Ignoring it is suicide.
@ Snark: SO absolutely true! We are at war and so many don't get it.
Islamists have carried out over 36K terror attacks since 9/11 and we are still asking ourselves "why". Seriously? The liberals lecture us that we can't blame them all for the actions of one yet the liberals will blame all gun owners for the actions of criminals. I for one refuse to interact with Muslims. I won't patronize any of their businesses and totally avoid them when encountered in a store. If they're lost and ask for directions, I give 'em a dose of their own "taqiyya" and send them miles away in the wrong direction.
@Snark: Also, as has been stated elsewhere, Islam is apolitical system masquerading as a religion. Conversely, Progressivism/Socialism/Communism is a religion masquerading as a political system.
As Don Corleone warned in The Godfather: "Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer." Looks as if we need to heed this warning and that---so far---we have failed.
Spot on @Snark and @Anonymous, Islam is a murderous satanic cult and as long as this fact is ignored and adherents are allowed on our soil this scourge is going to always be with us.
I can only hope that Alshamrani did not present a PowerPoint outlining his intentions to fellow officers in the weeks preceding his attack.
Fortunately, there has been some attitude adjustment that has taken place over the last 8 years. The FBI has declared this a bona fide terrorist attack, although they can't yet bring themselves to cite any motive. We do know that some of Alshamrani's Saudi friends were filming the attack.
@TMay said "Obama's decision had a monetary effect on the surviving families of military people cut down. Workplace violence is not the same as being part of a war and dying on active duty during war."
Considering the reckless spendthrift nature of the Obama Administration, it makes it difficult to believe that the "workplace violence" finding was simply over money. I think it was a lame attempt at denial of the world they've imported and a "f-you" to our fighting men & women, veterans, and patriotic Americans.
I'm concerned about all the AWOL Muslim military trainees that have disappeared over the last many years. Many have never been found. What are they up to?
Didn't you see the latest from the MSM? This was our guy's fault!! Apparently, somebody had nicknamed the goat humper "porn stache" ... because he had one. Oh noes, the poor Saudi boy was being bullied by our evil racist disrespectful military rednecks!!
@M. Mitchell Marmel- I agree. I think calling the Saudis "friends" is a considerable overreach...
@REM1875- Yes, what should be the safest places on Earth clearly aren't anymore.
@Jim Irre- I'm stunned that there was a way for this POS to buy a gun legally.
@Pete (Detroit)- I completely agree about the stupid "gun free zone" policies. To hell with that!
@Fred Ciampi- It's uncomfortably easy for me to picture that kind of scenario happening.
@Snark & others- We're very fortunate that Adolf didn't declare the National German Social Workers' Party to be a religion. Same with Lenin and Stalin and the Communist Party.
Gotta love gun free zones. (sarc)
