I Voted

Oh, I voted alright. Not with any pleasure but with considerable passion.

I voted for Donald Trump (as did Mrs. J, who had to go to the polls with a fractured spine), not because I love him (I don't), but because he's sure as hell better than any alternatives the Democrats are offering. Or should I say "threatening."

A genuinely dear friend posted on Facebook yesterday that people who vote as I did are straight up fascists with "foul beliefs," whether we admit it or not. "Most villains don't recognize their own evil," this well-intentioned person said - although on that sentiment we agree, for different reasons.

So let's unpack what my vote for Trump (and a straight ticket of Republicans, assuming that I can still say "straight" without being sent to a gulag) actually meant. In no particular order, I voted:

• To keep the Supreme Court a judicial rather than legislative body.
• To keep racists from gaining even more political power.
• To keep my future votes from being disenfranchised by the addition of new Democrat "states."
• To free Black Americans from their liberal prison plantations by increasing their access to education and opportunity.
• To stand in solidarity with the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
• To clean up the FBI, the CIA, and the DOJ.
• To keep socialism from devouring our economy and work ethic.
• To have legal citizenship actually mean something.
• To improve everyone's access to quality, affordable healthcare.
• To ensure equal rights to all regardless of race, color, faith, or sexual orientation.
• To fight against "cancel culture."
• To protect our cities from those who would burn them down without fear of legal consequence.
• To resist the control of all information and speech by giant media conglomerates.
• To support police agencies and the communities which they serve.
• To maintain a viable economy during the pandemic rather than embrace systemic failure.
• To allow political dissent and the free exchange of ideas.
• To drain the Washington swamp.
• To keep our military strong.
• To put America first.

And much, much more of course. What I didn't vote for, knowingly or unknowingly, are any of the heinous "foul beliefs" my friend seems to imagine are in my coal-black heart.

Casting our votes this time around was a bittersweet process owing to the high stakes and uncertain outcome we're currently facing. It's my belief that if this election is lost, that future "stacked" elections won't matter; the "Dems" that will forever-after beat us won't be Democrats but demographics. And I genuinely fear that under a Biden/Harris/Sanders/Pelosi/AOC administration, people like myself won't just be persecuted for our beliefs, but prosecuted for them.

On the plus side, I also believe that a lot of Americans are sick of the Left's lies, anger, and divisiveness and will cast their votes in a way not predicted by fictitious polls. It happened before, and here's hoping it happens again.

I have to admit to feeling tremendously frightened this year for the future of the country and world. I choke it down and go on with my life though because I can't lock myself in my bedroom and stay there, lol. Dogs gotta be fed, ya know.

My kids are all angry at me, though I haven't specifically said who I'm voting for, guess they'll have to get over it. So far they still seem to love me and want me around. They are all buying into the left's lunacy. I'm not sure how I would vote if there were anyone better than what the Dems are offering, frankly. I can do early voting in two weeks (last day is on Halloween, ain't that a kick?) and will take advantage of it.

Really feel sorry for everyone who is in the way of the worst that is going to go on, I pray for them every night as it's all I can do. I do hope I'm not doing the wrong thing in my choices and I like the reasons you listed. I guess in the end all we can do is our best and prepare for the worst.

My (Utah) ballot just arrived today. Utah is a vote-by-mail state, but you still have to register for the ballot in person. I think. Like you, I am concerned about the future if Trump does not win the Presidency, but really fearful about what will happen if Congress (both houses) stays/goes blue, whoever wins the top spot.

On the other hand, watching Trump at the town hall tonight, I noticed a repeated mantra. Every time the POTUS was questioned by a hostile voice (moderator or citizen), he found a way to say, "I'm on your side." Sincerely, and with something to emphasize it, like "We shouldn't be arguing," or, "I agree with you on this [example]." After he did this, the next time the camera panned over the audience, there were more heads nodding...

So I'm prepping like @mamafrog, but still hopeful. And we will drop our ballots off at the Town Hall here (nothing requires us to return them by mail!) on November 3rd.

I am 80 years old and I can think of no presidential election that I recall, starting with Truman/Dewey, that has given us two more vile candidates than Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden! We are at a crux in our nation's history that was foreseen by Benjamin Franklin who, when he was asked wether the Constitutional Convention had given us a Republic or a Monarchy, replied: "A Republic, IF YOU CAN KEEP IT!

I'm voting to keep it.

I'm hoping we shall.

In a not so shocking coincidence I voted yesterday as well. I used the absentee ballot at my town office as I've done for years (no USPS involved). I'm semi-retired but working on Election Day and didn't want to take a chance on being unable to make it there. My town has about 3000 registered voters and as of yesterday morning about 900 had already voted. I have no idea how that compares with other years but I can imagine it's a higher percentage. After voting the rhetoric becomes background noise, so much easier to ignore.

Early voting starts on Monday around here. I'm more inclined to wait until Election Day, myself, if for no other reason than tradition, but I'm willing to hear arguments either way.

In any event, GET THE HELL OUT THERE AND VOTE! The soapbox has been largely co-opted by the opposition, and if the ballot box fails...well, the alternative will work, eventually, but...

I would add to your list of reasons for voting as you did, 'To keep our Republic'

Your list of reasons should be reposted on November 2nd and November 3rd.

Me, my Mrs. and my voting-age kids at home voted absentee yesterday. I will be dropping our ballots sometime today. We have voted absentee for the past several years - almost as long as I can remember - since my work generally had me out of the country on election day, and having the kids vote absentee as well lends assurance that they exercising their civic duty.

This will very likely be Mrs. Limburger's last election, based on the news we were given yesterday regarding her cancer. Hopefully, her vote will be impactful.

I truly fear that the country will break into civil war no matter who wins. I have never seen out politics so vehemently divided, and the left has already fielded their militias - BLM and Antifa.

Pray for our country.

While we're cleaning we need to clean out the Stygian Stables. Just about every federal agency agency is infected with useless bureaucracy. If Lean is good for business it's absolutely vital for government. Why do we need an Interstate Commerce Commission that has no regulatory powers but they're still collecting data in case they can get they're hands on the levers of power again. Has education been improved one iota by the Department of Education? Don't get me started on the foibles of the FDA. The biggest cause of corruption occurs as agencies become subject to Pournelle's Iron Law of Bureaucracy.

While this may seem odd I believe we actually need more government. The U.S. government is experiencing a problem that has afflicted all governments in recorded history; i.e. the size of the bureaucracy increases until the society can no longer support it. Past societies reached this point and collapsed. Perhaps the United States can come up with a solution. What's missing is mechanism to literally take out the trash.

I propose that all government agencies not specifically required by the Constitution be subject to a sunset law. Every 8 or 12 years Congress must review the accomplishments of the subject agency, verify that they're still pursuing stated goals then reformulate the agency as needed and reauthorize the agency. Even the Postal Service could be reduced to a contracted service.

I propose a new Department of Lean Government which will seek out useless government agencies and defunds the agency. The Department of Lean would have no budget. Their funding would only come from agencies they've defunded. It would grow in size until the the source of funds starts drying up. Perhaps we need a Lean Initiative law similar in nature to RICO statutes where private citizens could due for a Lean defunding and receive a portion of the savings.

States that have initiative & referendum often vote themselves into trouble but recall has time and again proven itself useful. I propose a federal recall amendment where a plurality of states can overturn any federal statute, fire any hired or appointed official including judges and overturn Supreme Court decisions with the approval of three quarters of the state legislatures. The bar is set purposefully high.

I plan to vote today. And I will vote exactly as you did, Stilt. I actually DO like Trump. I realize that a lot of people don't like his attitude and tweets. But he does it for a simple reason - to piss off the progressive idiots. And it works beautifully. And I'm glad that it does and that he does it. Of course they stay pissed off most of the time without any provocation anyway which is why it works so well. You don't go to the Westminster Dog Show to get a junk yard dog. We NEED a junk yard dog to go after the swamp denizens. One of the first rules of negotiating is to keep your opponent off balance. He does this in spades. This is a war. War against the lyin' lamestream press. Against the socialist/communist progs who want to destroy this beautiful country. Against the elites who sell out our country for their own financial gain. Against a politicized FBI/DOJ/CIA who protects those elites and will destroy ANYONE who dares try to protest against such corruption. It's a war, not a badminton match. This is a knife fight. If you want to use rules in a knife fight....you lose. They want to destroy US. They hate him because he is in the way.

Snark said...

@Jay Dee: Pournelle's Iron Law is the reason so much of our government decay has occurred. (I really miss that guy, especially now.) But a department of Lean Government would also fall victim to said law. Sunset provisions and term limits - not just for elected officials but for ALL government positions including SCOTUS. Twelve years max for a bureaucrat and they're out. No rolling over into a lobbyist position for a minimum of five years.

And the move that would cause a mushroom cloud of heads over DC - the day after Trump is inaugurated this January he should reverse JFK's executive order permitting federal employees to join a union. A federal right to work order would eviscerate the dhimicrat money machine.

@M. Mitchell Marmel, for me it means dealing with fewer crowds (at least last time I voted), more time to get there, and bypassing our local polling place. Mine is hard to find as it's tucked away in a spot behind an apartment building and the local police station/city hall. Awkward to get to and not enough parking, frankly. It's liable to be really chaotic on voting day so I want to get it over with early. I live in a small suburb of a larger city so it just makes sense to me.

Stilt - for all those reasons and more, I will vote for Trump. @Snark and I think along very similar lines.

I hated Trump's tweets in the beginning, but it became apparent within his first year that they served a very good purpose. Without his incessant tweeting he would have been buried by the MSM and the anti-Trump coalition on the right. His tweets serve not only to bypass the opposition, but they also serve to enrage his adversaries to the point that they become apoplectic, making claims they can't in any way back up.

My wife and I will stand in whatever line we have to in order to vote on election day. I don't trust the system in this country to accurately tally the votes of Americans in an honest manner. God bless us one and all.

Those who vote(d) for Biden did so because they didn't like Trump's speaking style. Sad that people tend to vote for candidates who substitutes charisma (Obama had it) for character, even though their aims are to control the country with bad planning, high taxes, a complete lack of understanding of economics, and an arrogant regard for us "deplorables."

It alsrms me far more that the American public is largely kept unaware of the absence of character displayed by so many of those we elect, only to learn about their lies after they have been elected. FB and Twitter are guilty of controlling the free flow of information to us voters via its blatant censorship on an international scale. It is wrong, immoral and scary as hell. Without Tucker Carlson's revelations about the Bidens on FOX, Biden's lies would have stayed buried by the complicit news media and internet.

I would add only this to the above discussion. I have lost several close and longtime friends over politics, going back to 2008 when Hussein began to fundamentally change our country, much for the worse. So be it. I do ridicule most lefties for their ironclad dogma, but I loathe the Romney, Kristol, et. al. Quislings who are RINO scum, interested only in licking the spittle off their globalist masters' boots, praying for some table scraps.

I'm glad you voted, and hope your ballot is handled honestly by the poll workers. I will be voting for Trump, not because he's just better than the competition, but because IMO he's a truly great leader and exactly the man for the job at this time. Tough, smart, patriotic, and a fighter. I do love him, and appreciate the efforts he has made to save our country from the "fundamental transformation" Obama promised us.

Alfonso Bedoya said...

All I can say is that Trump had better win this election, or the country will do down the same drain as those countries in Europe and elsewhere who have tapped out because they are too afraid to speak out and take similar action as did our forefathers when they kicked the British out of our budding country. The Democrat Party has morphed into an evil, sinister group who berates and tries to humiliate the middle class, and is abetted by what I feel is a criminal element that now governs and directs the thoughts of vulnerable students to accept and encourage Communism.

BLM groups now operate without any defense from those they ruin; I have never seen anything like it.....and it is the Left Wing ("liberal" is no longer an adequate description of these traitors) who call the shots. The problem is that our system of education has fallen prey for over five decades to the lies taught in grade schools, high schools and universities, while conservatism has been blamed for racism and any other ill caused by liberalism. Toss in the MSM lies and censorship, and you have a recipe for disaster.

Vote TRUMP in November. Vote for every Republican on the ticket! Take your ballots to the vote polling centers IN PERSON. If the Left Wing takes over the government---especially the White House---by their law-breaking and lies---I predict another revolution....We just can't continue to tacitly lie back and let them take over what our founding fathers created.

I also struck a blow for Liberty yesterday. And once again, the polling place had their "No Firearms" and "Turn phones off/No Photography" signs up. I don't know why I have to surrender one Constitutional right to exercise another. Informal research tells me that Shelby County is the only county in Tennessee that has these signs up, but nobody can tell me why they do.

And as regards President Trump, I didn't like him at first either, starting with the primaries, but there was no way I was ever going to vote for Felonia von Pantsuit. I started liking President Trump when his Tweets started taking the fight to the enemy.

I have a Biblethumper ex-sister-in-law that said she wouldn't vote to re-elect President Trump "because he uses bad language". I told her we were electing a President, not a preacher.

Trouble is millennials are mesmerized by the fake front and platitudes of the slippery Left Wing. The Left erects a beautiful shining doorway leading to their future but can't disclose where that path will lead. Only platitudes and misrepresenting the facts. Their promises are false and nothing but a cloud of smoke. If you believe that steeply raising regulation and taxes on corporations and your employer is going to have no effect on you, you have another think coming. Obama got elected by spouting nothing but platitudes and it worked, so now here we go again.

To drain the Swamp. That is exactly why the Democraps and RINO are in such a panic to get rid of Trump. The corruption has been astronomical and increasing every year for decades if not centuries. It is obviously way bigger than even a cynic like myself could begin to imagine. I believe it is way bigger than even President Trump had imagined. Even a new person gets elected and within a few hours they too are hauling in the cash and fully on board with grabbing all the money they can by any means necessary.

I voted straight RED here in Arizona, because I just heard that Bruce Springsteen is threatening (again?) to leave the country if President Trump is re-elected. It begins, once again: whiney-assed Commie Liberal "we're better than you" Hollywood-types are threatening to deprive us of their god-like presence if we don't vote their way.

Make no mistake, Springsteen is only the first of many who will make this empty threat with misty eyes and quivering, angry voices. Streisand, Behar, Whoopie, (the list is long,) all threatening to leave us to our empty and hum-drum lives without their shining guidance.

To this, I will make the same offer as I have before: I can get you some boxes if you need them, but no, you can't use my truck.

I've always voted in person on election day. I guess I'm a dinosaur. I rather enjoy putting my own ballot into that ballot scanner. Do they do that when you vote early, or do have to hand it to a "trusted employee" who takes it in a back room for "safekeeping?"

Great list, Stilton! A list lefties would never understand. They think we vote for Trump because were all racist homophobic, islamaphobic, money grabbing fascists who enjoy beating down "po folks" to make ourselves even more rich and privileged. Actually, my mootbat son's favorite new word is fascist. ALL Republicans are fascists, you know. He doesn't have a clue what a fascist really is, but if Harris wins, he may find out.

Anybody watch the Trump townhall last night? Well... townhall hardly describes it. That Guthrie bag spent about half the time pontificating and attacking the President. Very few questions were permitted from the people who came there to ask questions. Still, I thought Prez. Trump did a remarkable job of staying cool and stating his case.

I heard that the Biden townhall was just more throwing old Slo-Joe the really tough questions, like "what's your favorite color" and such. I wish I had a DVR so I could have recorded it.

Some great sentiments in the comments as usual but it all seems so doom and gloom! I wonder if we are all depressed because of the constant onslaught from the MSM that Sleepy Joe will win.
Question: does anyone have a clue what their plan is? Will they really attempt to run the gov't with a puppet? Or will he have an accident and they go with someone that crapped out in the primaries? Or use the mail in voting to delay until evil witch Nancy gets moved up? Or do they have something more sinister up their sleeves?
@E. Limburger: Prayers and lots of hugs to you both. Lost mine last year, it sucks. Keep your family and friends close.

John the Econ said...

You'd think that after 4 years of this "people who vote for Trump are fascists" narrative, they'd have moved on to something else. But no. These people wouldn't know actual fascism if some agent of the state or sympathizer thereof were to break in their windows or tattoo them and throw them in a freight car for destinations unknown but suspected. If Trump is awful at anything, it's at being anything resembling an actual fascist.

Meanwhile we have the tech giants actively censoring news that would be harmful to the preferred candidate of the Progressive and media establishment. They do this, so they say, because publishing anything illegally obtained or questionably sourced is against their policy. (Pause here to clean up coffee spew on monitor) Of course, for some reason this policy didn't stop them for a second from publishing anything from Snowden or Wikileaks, promulgating the non-sourced and phony "Russia collusion" narrative, totally imagined rape-gang stories sold by a now-jailed ambulance chaser, publishing Trump's illegally-obtained tax information, or countless other slanders that they have not only allowed to flow freely across their networks for the last 4 years, but actively promoted.

So while your ignorant friends call Trump a fascist, they will be voting for the candidate being promoted and protected by people who are now openly behaving exactly like the Chinese communists do. As far as I can tell, nobody critical of Trump has yet been "disappeared", as frequently happens to those who are critical of the political establishment in China.

As was the case 4 years ago, there is absolutely no argument that can be made against Trump that can't also be made against Biden, and the Democrats just don't get it. Trump is clearly a misogynist. But he doesn't grab the tits of 8-year-old girls on stage in front of the whole world. Biden was a liar even before his senility took his filter. Biden is an actual racist, if not white supremacist.

And of course, had they had the kind of dirt on anyone in the Trump family that we now have on the Biden family enterprise, impeachment would have been a fait accompli.

You can almost forgive some Democrats as much of this is because they are so ensconced in their bubble that they are well insulated from news like how the Biden family is a racket. (Then again, they were able to hold their noses for the transparent racket run by the Clintons, so if you can tolerate that, what won't you put up with) For the last year, I've told Democrats that they were trying to impeach Trump for something that Joe Biden as part of the "scandal free" Obama Administration actually did. They weren't able to understand this because they were never exposed Biden actually bragging about it, and/or couldn't get past the idea that anything this unsavory could possibly happen on Obama's watch.

BTW, considering what's gone down this week, if you want to refer to any of the hyperlinks above in the future, I'd suggest copying them to digital storage that you yourself control. I doubt they will remain freely available online indefinitely, especially should Biden and the Democrats win next month.

Tell me about fascism again.

@mamafrog- We're pretty much on the same page, although fortunately Daughter J is smart and well-informed, so NOT fooled by the Dems. Like you, I'm not particularly happy voting for Trump; his policies have worked well, but I can't and won't ignore the fact that he's more than a little nuts. But as I opined in a post when he was running against Hillary, I feel like we're at altitude in a jet that has lost its crew. Our choices are between a wacky guy who thinks he could probably fly, or a trained pilot who happens to be a kamikaze. The choice is maybe crash or definitely crash. Either way, make sure the drink cart is still serving...

@Pat Cummings- We had to request absentee ballots (not knowing if Mrs J's injuries would allow her to vote in person) but after they arrive we decided to vote in person to lower the chances of shenanigans. Showing up to vote, they noted that we'd requested absentee ballots so our votes in person would be "provisional." Fortunately, I was able to fix that by hot-footing it back home to retrieve the mail-in ballots (leaving Mrs J and her aching back at the polling place) so that they could be officially cancelled and our in-person votes would be counted as usual. By the way, I think it's great that the election officials raised the issue and helped me fix it.

@Fritzchen- I think you're exactly right. The Dems want (and intend) to change our systems enough that they can never again lose an election. So yes, this election is likely to be a historical turning point (also because if Trump wins, there will be violence in the streets like we haven't yet seen).

@jimbro- For me, it was a weight off my shoulders to vote just so I'd know that if I dropped dead in the immediate future, I at least got my vote in.

@M. Mitchell Marmel- As I mentioned above, I favor early (and in person when possible) voting just in case there's a meteor with your name on it arriving before election day.

@Fish Out of Water- That's a great addition to the list, and I know there are many more. This wasn't even remotely a hard decision.

@Emmentaler Limburger- Before I say anything else, let me offer a cyber-hug to you and Mrs Limburger during your ongoing cancer battle. Life flat out sucks sometimes.

I think if Trump wins, we'll see an immediate and dramatic escalation of violence in the streets. If the Left wins, I don't see the Right taking action in the streets until and unless they get pushed too hard. Which, sadly, ain't off the table.

@Jay Dee- Great suggestions and comments across the board!

@Snark- I agree with almost everything you're saying, although I don't think Trump is any great strategist. I think he does that "junkyard dog" thing through sheer gut instinct. And yes, I think that's exactly what is needed right now whether I like it or not. And bonus points for invoking the name of Jerry Pournelle!

@Mamafrog- I, too, prefer the less-crowded process when I vote early. Particularly in times of pandemic!

@Jim Irre- I don't like Trump's tweets, but I have to admit that they throw a monkey wrench into the gears of the normally smooth-running media propaganda machines. Also, like you, I don't have a lot of faith that votes are going to be tabulated accurately this time around (if they ever were).

@Alfonso Bedoya- The distortion or hiding of actual news by the media giants is genuinely frightening. The friend I referred today is a good and kind person who, unfortunately, is basing decisions on what her chosen media vomits up. That's why I don't hate most of those who are voting Left, but rather hate those who've fed them lies.

@Anonymous- Charlton Heston: "Soylent Marxist is the proletariat!"

@TrickyRicky- Well put. I hate the fact that people who I care about, and people who should know me, would now consider me some kind of monster - while I more charitably consider them ill-informed.

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Linda Lee- Those are all good reasons to vote for Trump. And yes, that POS Obama did achieve a "fundamental transformation" of this country, in the worst possible way.

@Alfonso Bedoya- Amen, brother.

@rickn8or- If the Dems win it all, I wonder if your ex-sister-in-law will use bad language when the government openly attacks Christianity.

@udaman- I took the threat of a mail-in ballot being purloined very seriously. So voting in person was more complicated (and more painful for Mrs J) but it seemed important to do.

@Cisco Kid- But sometimes, His "mysterious ways" can be something of a trial in the interim.

@SpectreRider- I'd actually like to see that phrase on posters and bumperstickers!

@brunnegd- Yes, yes, yes! Lots on your list that should have been on mine (but were at least in my heart).

@Anonymous- Yeah, miscreants like us need to be rounded up and sent to camps based on what I'm hearing from the media. Frighteningly, I don't think it's impossible.

@KanB- Well put and absolutely right!

@Navyvet- The whole developing mess with the Bidens (apparently all of them) on the take is a great example of what you're talking about. That swamp MUST be drained, but only someone who is an outside like Trump can attempt it.

@Murphy(AZ)- We always hear threats about these a**holes leaving the country, but they never do. Or they do briefly, then come running back when they discover the tax rates in other countries.

@Harley8- Oh, we're not lacking for inducements!

@Colby Muenster- I'm glad to report that my completed ballot never left my hand before going into the scanner. And I'm sick to death of the "fascist" label being thrown at us. Funny thing, those on the Left talk about the fascist nightmare that this country has become, and speak of Trump's time in office as if he had death squads roaming the streets and incinerators burning the weak full time. But ask them to say specifically what Trump has done wrong and they only reply with vague generalities. Because they're morons.

@JohnF- My sincere condolences on the loss of your wife. Mrs J is all that stands between me and a rubber room.

Regarding the real plan for Ol' Joe, I think the string-pullers would simply keep him as a figurehead who rubberstamps whatever they want until his health/mind make that impossible.

And you can ALWAYS borrow anything I write here to repost!

@Colby Muenster- I'll be happy to chip into a Kickstarter to fund kicking those idiots out.

@John the Econ- As is frequently the case, you've expressed all of this more eloquently than I could. Great commentary!

@Mike aka Proof- I'm hoping there are enough sane voters, too.

@Jess- Sadly, I believe that.

@Blucreator77- Thanks!

@Pete(Detroit)- Yes, that same friend I mentioned also shakes her head over the fact that people like me (and everyone here) is so ignorant about what socialism really is, and how great it will be.

@Bobo the Hobo- That's what I was going to do until I found out that I couldn't deliver Mrs. J's ballot. At that point, voting in person was the only thing that made sense, despite Mrs. J's infirmities.

@Anonymous- I don't want to see it, but I should probably be around to help fight it.

@Fish Out of Water- Venezuela, here we come!

It's less than 3 weeks now to election day and it's suggest to all that it's probably not too early to put out both a sort of Insiders notice and Public Service announcements that most of us 2nd amendment and armed conservatives are NOT looking for a civil war fire-fight to break out. But IF protesters bring threats and violence onto our properties and/or aerious threats to our people anywhere : THAT is quite another matter entirely.

Here's some data from Pew Research and Hugh Hewitt. There's more to go see if one cares to go look.

Hewitt a day or two ago: In the last few months fully 5 million Americans (of both sides I assume) have made the major decision of buying (significantly) their FIRST firearm. The first one indicate a decision has been reached and many more have decided their safety is up to them.

Pew data even before that says an average (that means many locations & demographics are higher) about 35% overall of American families are armed; White and Republican out-number Black and Liberals... most of them are well-armed with more then one type of weapon plus ammo. And 80% of THEM say the firearm(s) are regularly used for other things in addition to potential personal protection. IE: They already know how to target and shoot; may of them VERY WELL I can't find many raw numbers; but this in effects amounts to a huge domestic armed force that will not be needing formal leadership to order "engage" if violence is brought to them.

So to anyone contemplating initiating a show of armed force or destruction in the wrong place: FAIR WARNING! You may be very likely to get dropped in your tracks. Many of you. Do NOT think you're bullet proof. People under attack in this nation don't have to follow Barry's pussy rules of military engagement. Let's all get through the election and afterwards SAFELY by behaving ourselves.

Rod, I like to think that a significant portion of those first-time gun buyers had an epiphany about those "commonsense gun laws" they were so much in favor of last year.

I LIKE President Trump for all of the reasons listed. Some think President Trump iis brash and reminds us of his acomplishments too much. Some think he is not "presidential", but I have seen many instances of the opposite. He is transparent and MUST speak directly to the American people in the manner he chooses becuae otherwise his message if manipulated by the MSM. How many times do we all need to hear that the president has not disavowed white supremacists. The DemocRAT* Party are the white supremacists - their Jim Crow Laws, the Civil War - Southern DemoRATS*, the KKK were Dems, Biden and corrupt HilLiary were "mentored" by KKK people. It was Dems standing in the doorways of school houses in the Sixties.
I like cats because they purr. I like dogs because they are loyal friends. I like Mint Chocolate chip ice cream because it tastes good and everything on your list are reasons to LIKE President Trump. I do not want to have any more puss presidents like 0Bama and 'not-as-much puss' Bushes. My tastes are different than many - I like Trump policies, anchovies, oysters, Spam and I am a philogynist. There are so many more pluses that could be easily added to the Trump LIKE list. I will vote for the Grand Old Trump.

@Raz, My main reason for voting for President Trump 4 years ago is that the eastern liberal establishment, both Demo_Rat and RINO, absolutely hates the man. Anything or anyone that/who pi$$es off the establishment is good for me. That "establishment" is what Kurt Schlichter calls "the Elite" in his book "Militant Normals". Those "elites" need to be slapped down, in a kinetic slapdown.

I agree with you. In 2016 I voted for Hilary Clinton though I was intrigued by some of what Trump said. I nonetheless feared that he was unstable. I have usually voted for the Democrats. My family has always been for the Democrats.

There is a lot to dislike about Trump and he frequently seems to be his own worst enemy. But I think he has accomplished a lot of good in standing up to China, getting better trade deals, getting the other NATO countries to pay their fair share, somewhat getting a handle on illegal immigration despite not solving it, somewhat reducing the North Korean threat, make some significant advances toward Middle East peace, improving the economy, and various other things.

He is not the ideal person to be carrying the banner for "truth, justice, and the American way" (that's from the old Superman TV show), but he is the one who is carrying that banner right now and I voted for him this year.

Sorry, "Stilton," but I love Trump! He is exactly the right person- in all respects- to take on the Democrat leftist filth that is trying to destroy him AND America!

Unknown, I don't believe Joe can go for two minutes without vapor-locking.
