The Not-So-Great Escape

stilton’s place, stilton, political, humor, conservative, cartoons, jokes, hope n’ change, coronavirus, covid, wuhan, lab, accident, fauci, lies

Despite the many reassuring headlines saying things like "Chinese Continue To Deny That Genetically Modified Bat Virus Found In Wuhan Came From Wuhan Institute of Genetically Modifying Bat Viruses," a growing body of evidence suggests that our current pandemic is actually the biggest man-caused disaster in human history.

Science writer Nicholas Wade has done yeoman work in analyzing the available data (and writes about it in great detail here) and has come to the conclusion that while it's possible (barely) that the virus had a natural origin, the much greater likelihood is that SARS-CoV-2 escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology after they deliberately enhanced the virus's ability to infect human beings.

Among the damning pieces of evidence are reports that technicians in the Wuhan lab suddenly fell seriously ill (with some dying) just days before SARS-CoV-2 magically and spontaneously appeared near the lab. In hindsight, when multiple people in a virology lab suddenly fall ill when working with deadly new diseases, they shouldn't be sent home or to local hospitals. Oops!

So here we are, with 3 million dead (and counting), trillions of dollars in damages, and unprecedented social upheaval - and the likely cause was a screw-up in a lab which had already been criticized for poor security (which didn't keep Anthony Fauci from sending them millions of American tax dollars to play God with), followed by China's blackout on information which could have saved countless lives.

But there's good news and bad news. The good news is that SARS-CoV-2 is far less lethal than some of the other manipulated Frankenstein viruses which could have escaped. The bad news is that absent strong and unified action from all nations, virology research labs are going to continue creating scores of nightmarish pathogens.

And making mistakes.

BONUS: LIGHTNING ROUND

•  The US State Department issued a memo to our embassies worldwide encouraging them to fly "Black Lives Matter" flags on May 25th to commemorate the one-year anniversary of George Floyd's death. Presumably, embassies which didn't have a handy BLM flag could simply set fire to a standard American flag and use it as an ignition source to torch the embassy "BLM-style" itself.

• The Pentagon has created a working group to cull "extremists" out of the military. To head that group, they've hired a radical named Bishop Garrison who is on record as saying that anyone who voted for Trump (and there were at least 75 million of us) is just such an extremist (and racist and misogynist to boot). This being the case, wouldn't it be easier to disband the whole military rather than just removing the patriots? Then again, that may be the real plan.

• Speaking of the military, God only knows how many of our tax dollars were wasted on this animated recruitment video (widely mocked and quickly withdrawn) which emphasizes that what our military really needs is women who are just as strong as the two lesbian mothers who raised them. Yes, really.

1) While "Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity" is usually pretty valid, I think WuFlu has equal parts of both.

2) Any embassy flying a BLM flag DESERVES to be burned to the ground. It is no longer US soil, and is no longer deserving of protection.

3) Every "extremist" weeded out of the military is one more well trained civilian who dislikes and distrusts the government. This will not end well for the lefties, long run.

4) Remember when the US had BETTER recruiting ads than the Russians? Pepperidge Farms remembers...

Methinks the Chicomms doth protest too much.
Also, the Chinese economy has rebounded faster and better than any other. Coincidence?

Black Lives Matter! ( but not in Chicago, St Louis, Baltimore, Detroit, Birmingham .....)

And judging by what I've seen of Buck Fydens choice of the new military 'leadership', I am glad that we have, like MMMarmal said earlier, a whole lot of well trained civilians (myself included) who dislikes and distrusts the gubbermint and are ready, willing, and able to follow the Constitution. 'Nuff said. God Bless America (Our government sure won't).

Now that Orange Man Bad is out of the White House I guess it's OK to look at the true origins of the Wu Flu. Somehow I doubt that Beijing Joe will do anything about it. Call me crazy.

Well said, Fred Ciampi... Semper Fi. A lot of us put on our boots, picked up a rifle and went 11,000 miles across the Pacific for America, including 58,000 of us who came back in the horizontal, only to have a rotten government throw our victory away. I've hated Democrats with a vitriolic passion ever since.

It is both saddening and maddening to watch the demise of such a great nation. The dhimicrat/socialist/anarchists have done their job well. Without an effective military, Homeland Security, economic stability or businesses that support the constitution we have a national foundation of silt. I feel sorry for my daughter and the millions who will one day wake up and say: "Uh oh. We screwed up." And it will have become Dhimizuela.

Let's go back a few days in the news, back to where Fauci mentioned that some sub-agency under his sway was financing the Wu Hoo lab in their effort to (weaponize) bat flu and unleash it on the entire world. What? Unleashing it wasn't part of the plan? It was just supposed to be a replacement for MSG in Chinese food?

Has anyone asked Herr Doctor Fauci just why it seemed like a good idea to finance our ENEMY to help them develop a weapon to use against, well, EVERYBODY? What? They really did mean to use it on bats?

Oh. Nevermind!

John Holton said...

The way I see it, Fauci's guilty of 600,000+ counts of involuntary manslaughter at a minimum, maybe even that many counts of conspiracy to commit murder. And that's just in this country. I hope they lock him up and throw away the key.

Well, call me paranoid, but it would seem to me that this ‘weeding out of extremists in the military’ thingy has less to do with ideological purity than it does with pushing out those who would hesitate to fire upon American citizens if ordered to do so. Too bad I stopped drinking before noon… perhaps I should just continue throughout the day.

@Alej: My father too served in the Pacific. He spoke rarely of what he saw.

As to democrats giving the victory away, not to throw an incendiary device into this thread, but remember it was Nixon who returned Iwo Jima (and the other islands in the same archipelago) back to the Japanese, who claim to them has been shaky at best.

This has always left a very bad taste in the mouth.

Colby Muenster said...

I hate to say it, but we can blame the emergence of Dr. Fauci on Donald Trump. Dear Prez. Trump, you shoulda vetted this little POS a little better.

@John Holton,

AMEN brother! But let's not lock him up. Let's send him to the Wuhan lab to be their human version of a lab rat. Oh,,,, and then nuke the place.

Alej said...

@FishOOW: Nothing incendiary, amigo... just different circumstances/timing... The South Vietnamese people were thrown under the bus while the communists were still able to invade, destroy and conquer our ally when Congress cut all aid to them at the behest of Jesse Jackson, et al, proclaiming the "peace div-uh-dee-und" could go to social services/payments instead of our logistical support (only; victorious US troops long gone by 1975) without which the RVN forces couldn't compete against massive Russian and Chinese contributions to the North. Hundreds of thousands of Southerners died; many others lost in concentration camps, many others, "Boat People," killed by pirates at sea... I sponsored a Vietnamese soldier's family in 1975 - they got out but lost one of their two young children in the chaos... untold (especially ignored by our press) suffering and deaths. I took it all a little more personally than some; I was a member of the Marine Corps Combined Action Group, living and working with village Popular Forces... you can get sort of close to people in that environment in 13 months. I don't think the Iwo Jima &c return had the same type of terrible human consequences but I see your point; I was hyper-urinated when that POS Jimmy Carter signed over the Panama Canal and Zone to rather undeserving types.. Manuel Noriega comes to mind. Pax vobiscum !

Occam's Razor: The simplest explanation is usually the most likely.

I really don't understand why this is so difficult to accept. After all, if Donald Trump's 3rd cousin 15-times-removed concubine who had a boyfriend who once traveled through Wuhan, they'd be perfectly prepared to accept that it came from a lab funded by Fauci.

The deification of George Floyd: I saw that Biden & Pelosi met with George's "family". I'd be quite interested to know how close any of these people were to George during his personal struggles and before he simultaneously became famous and much less dangerous to those who crossed his path.

In other words, nobody seemed to care about George until after he was dead.

Meanwhile, how much compassion (and money) has been dispensed to those who were victims of George's out of control life?

The priorities of our military: Once again, the narrative that the real threat to domestic tranquility isn't BLM, Antifa and anarchists who have for the last year been literally burning and murdering in our streets, but this imaginary white supremacist uprising that manifested at the capitol in January without actually firing any shots. OK.

So what would our military look like once purged of anyone who wasn't a far-leftist? And would they have any chance against any of our likely adversaries?

Victor Davis Hanson has a great rundown of the damage the left is doing to one of the last American institutions that anyone had any respect for.

The recruitment video: See above. I really hope that this is actually some sort of advanced psyops play against our enemies to make them think we're crazy. Because it looks like we are.

@John the Econ, the point of forcing the combat-capable out of the U.S. military is to make it so there will be NO chance against any of our likely adversaries. Once the most capable are forced out, anyone left who would actually try to fight would then be easily killed and the useless leftovers will surrender. SURRENDER IS THE POINT.

When they instituted lockdown in Wuhan, they prohibited travel to the rest of China, but *not* international travel. I'm sure that didn't cause any real problems, though. :-P

@M. Mitchell Marmel- 1) Stupidity and Malice go together like peanut butter and jelly. From Hell. 2) I agree. Any US Embassy flying a BLM flag has declared a new allegiance. 3) You're a glass half-full and fully-armed kind of guy. 4) Decades ago, I used to write and produce recruitment ads for the radio. They were significantly different than the crappola currently being put out there.

@Brie Camembert- At this point I simply take it as fact that the virus came out of that substandard lab in Wuhan. And that China allowed it to run wild in order to "save face." They should pay a price for that.

@Fred Ciampi- Biden's appointments continue to be appalling, especially in all matters related to the military and our nation's security.

@Anonymous- I genuinely have no idea what you're talking about.

@TrickyRicky- Even now, Biden's speechwriters are probably working on his "Well, accidents happen - no hard feelings!" address.

@Alej- Thank you for your service, sir, and your reason for hating Democrats is entirely understandable.

@Snark- I'd like to disagree with any part of your comment, but can't. For Mrs. J and myself, our primary concern is the world that our daughter will be living in soon. It's not going to be pretty.

@Murphy(AZ)- Giving new superpowers to already-lethal viruses in order to study them is as insane as giving guns to criminal lunatics just to see what they'll do with them. Which isn't even a metaphor: that's exactly what the Obama administration did with their "Fast & Furious" gun-running scheme. Now, in Obama's third term, we're seeing that the only law that can't be broken is Murphy's Law.

@John Holton- I might have reluctantly cut Fauci some slack if he had been honest from the start. But he hasn't been, and he should certainly be facing criminal liability.

@Mike Porter- That's way too plausible for comfort.

@Fish Out of Water- Oh, there have been plenty of mistakes made in our nation's past. And we're still paying for them.

@Colby Muenster- I'm not going to blame Trump for Dr. Fauci. "Vetting" probably wouldn't have helped, since the whole (ahem) "scientific" community seems to be a big fustercluck in this area.

@Alej- Thank you for sharing your personal experiences. Very powerful and emotional stuff (and now I'm all pissed off again).

@John the Econ- Just looking at the makeup of the damn virus, it has attributes that are almost impossible to account for UNLESS it was manipulated in a lab. This has been known for over a (wasted) year.

I see that George Floyd's family has been welcomed at the White House (and far more welcome than MY family would be, I'm sure). As nearly as I can tell, Floyd was a scuzzbucket when alive and (unlike countless buildings burned to the ground) shouldn't be missed.

Our military is increasingly "militants for social justice." And you know who doesn't get social justice? Countries that lose wars because their military can't fight.

And the Victor Davis Hanson piece was superb. Assuming you can call something so depressing "superb."

@JustaJeepGuy- Again, sounds plausible to me.

@Stevarooni- Those people fleeing China and carrying the virus with them made this crisis unstoppable. China made a choice to infect the rest of the world and should pay a price for that.
