Snakes Smear in the Park

stilton’s place, stilton, political, humor, conservative, cartoons, jokes, hope n’ change, trump, shakespeare, assassination, obama, hamlet, trump birthday
We're not sure if this is "Hamlet" or "As You Like It."
New York's well-funded (including with tax money) "Shakespeare in the Park" company recently staged a modern day retelling of Julius Caesar in which the title character is depicted as President Trump - causing liberal glee when he's graphically and bloodily assassinated onstage by knife-wielding maniacs of the type that recently staged a similar production on London Bridge.

What a great family outing, huh? And how better to introduce kids to Shakespeare than by making it "fun" with the repeated stabbing of an American President?!

Critics on the Left (are there any other kind?) say that conservatives and fly-over peasants are being too sensitive about this brilliant restaging and maybe they're right. Which is why, in the interest of "Making Theater Great Again," we'd like to suggest some other adaptations which might please those same critics and stimulate sophisticated cocktail conversations after an outdoor evening with the Bard.

We've already handled "Hamlet" in the cartoon above, though we're a little worried that such a production might prompt n-word spouting "comic" Bill Maher to refer to it as "Spear Shaker in the Park." Does the man's racism know no bounds?!

Still, it's hard to envision the theater company going wrong with portraying Lady Macbeth as a wildly demented and blood-stained Hillary Clinton. And imagine how delightful "Romeo & Juliet" would be starring lookalikes for Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky in the title roles? Talk about your (Ken) Starr-crossed lovers! And seriously, the multiple death scenes at the play's end (oops, spoiler alert) would bring cheering audiences to their feet!

To show that we're good sports, we'll let the "Shakespeare in the Park" folks use any or all of these ideas to help them show their devotion to diversity of opinion in the arts, and to inject a little blood into their centuries-old productions which isn't that of a sitting President.

BONUS: A YUUUUUUUUUGE BIRTHDAY!

Leave it to our patriotic new President to have his birthday on Flag Day! Be sure to fly yours today - make it a twofer!

Macbeth is the Bamboozler-in-Chief's play. They even personalized it for him:
"...a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more (I wish!)...a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing."

LOL on your cartoon! One of the best
I saw a rendition of Hamlet done in a modern setting. Very disappointing. What makes these idiots think they can improve on nearly perfect English language masterpieces? Shakespeare should be performed as written, if only for it's historical and teaching value.

Not to trivialize the damage Obama did in his eight years, but there is the parallel of both he and Yorick being court jesters.....

That birthday celebration is decades late - more in the style of one Billy-Bob Clinton, dontchathink?

@Mike aka Proof wins the internet today :)

Great video, Stilt! Made me subscribe, it did.

Sir Humphrey: "Really Prime Minister, plays attacking the government* are the second most boring theatrical productions imaginable!"
Jim Hacker: "Are they? What are the MOST boring then?"
Sir Humphrey: "Plays praising the government".

Once again, the people who like to chide like the church lady about "hate" show their true selves. Say what you will about Trump, but he certainly brings out the worst in people; especially leftists.

Not holding my breath for the Obama version of Hamlet. But it would be apt.

@Judi King, the Mrs & I regularly take in Shakespeare, and for the last 20 years or so, roughly 2/3rds of the time it's in a "modern" setting. It's leftist directors trying to make social statements. Boring.

And as I write this, news is coming in about a shooting of Republicans at practice for a softball game. So get ready to capture screen shots of Progressives on social media showing approval taking glee in this.

Ah. Only took about 100 seconds before a talking head said "gun control". So buckle up folks.

Do you have your flag out?

Fred Ciampi said...

Yes, Rep Steve Scalise shot in the hip while at a baseball practice about 7 AM. The gunman has assumed room temperature. Methinks that the shit's about to hit the fan. Like John said, the libetards will be jumping with glee. Oh, it's going to be a long day. I think I'll inventory my ammo, clean and oil certain bang sticks, and cry. God help our country ... well God and the militia.

I second the motion to award Mike aka Proof today's interwebs award.

I hate to say it, but the last Shakespeare play I attended was in the mid-80s at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival in the Mary Rippon outdoor amphitheater on the CU campus. A great production of Macbeth on a warm summer night, with the added bonus that the witches were all in see-through costumes. Ah, the mammaries.

I know nothing about the Majority Whip's would be assassin but I predict he's a democrat and NOT an NRA member.

With both the MSM and much of the entertainment industry celebrating beheading and stabbing our Republican President, is it any wonder that some psycho is now targeting Republicans for execution?
How will the left spin this for more gun control when it was most likely one of their own doing the shooting?

Judi King said...

Apparently the shooter in Alexandria asked if the people practicing there were Republicans or Democrats before he started his rampage. The left has totally become the party of thugs. How they can possibly be defended by anyone is a mystery.

Were there more Senate Laugh-In hearings scheduled today? Postpone em.

It's clear that the attacker was a libtard. Most conservatives are more likely to have had life-long exposure to firearms would have had training for better marksmanship...

Excellent Mr. Stilton-great thespian post (can I say that?)

@Mike aka Proof- You're right, that role is better tailored for him than a Saville Row suit.

@REM1875- There's a LOT of poison going in all of our ears these days.

@Judi King- I believe the language of the play was untouched, but it was given contemporary trappings and costumes to make it more (ahem) "relevant." The bastards.

@Dilbertnomore- In the most recent case, an obscene jester.

@Emmentaler Limburger- You're right that the hotty-from-a-cake motif would be more fitting for Clinton, but I liked the idea because it would upset Lefties and militant feminists so much.

@Bobo the Hobo- I don't post videos all that often, though I really should since it's such a popular way of communicating these days.

@Popular Front- Funny and accurate!

@John the Econ- If such stagings aren't about hate from the Left, then I'm missing their point entirely.

Regarding the awful shootings this morning, I won't draw a direct line between things like the Shakespeare assassination or Kathy Griffin's beheading of Trump, but I will say that it's dangerous to encourage and "normalize" (as the Left says) violent anti-political behavior.

And you BET I've got flags out. Moreover, we'll be attending a "Flag Day" event in our neighborhood this evening: neighbors gathering in a cul-de-sac, hot dogs off the grill, Boy Scout color guard, patriotic speakers, and even some singers. That's how we do it in Texas.

@Fred Ciampi- A liberal friend (who apparently doesn't know my politics) actually sent me a link to the story about the shooting along with his witty observation: "Take me OUT at the ballgame." What the hell is wrong with people?

@Anonymous- If the see-through costumes were enjoyable, I'm guessing the witches weren't old crones - right? (And I was going to make a joke about these women putting the "shake" in Shakespeare, but decided it would be beneath me.)

@CA- The guy was a rabid (literally) Bernie supporter.

@Geoff King- MSM reports are already focused WAY more on the evil gun than the motivations of the shooter.

@Judi King- Yes, the guy ASKED if they were Republicans yet some elements of the MSM are still saying his motivation is a mystery. Remember Hillary's Veep candidate, Tim Kaine, saying that it was time for loyal Democrats to start fighting in the streets?

@zregime- I honestly don't know if there are hearings scheduled for today, or continuing. To date, the hearings have been only an embarrassment for those on the Left.

@Emmentaler Limburger- The guy may have been a decent marksman, but thankfully when there was return fire from the police it threw him off his game. Permanently.

@Anonymous- Considering that Shakespeare is celebrated as a cunning linguist, I believe your thespian comment is appropriate.

@Tracy Evans- Thanks for noticing! I figured as long as I was making the image, I should do it right (grin).

(apologies - I don't know how to make a link).

On second thought, why is a lib like McAuliffe whining about a Republican being shot. Probably laughing on the inside, I'll bet, but never let a good crisis go to waste.

Judi King said...

Modern costumes, etc. don't really lend themselves to Shakespeare's 16th century English. It just doesn't come across as believable.

Pete (Detroit) said...

Might have been nice if the shooter had drawn enough breath for a good 'interview' w/ the G-Men, but I'm frankly glad that the return fire included a 'tax payer relief' shot. No expensive long drawn out trial for this SOB.

Pete (Detroit) said...

In Re 2nd Amendment gun rights - while I don't agree w/ the timing, target, or ANYTHING about this incident, the fact remains that forcibly ejecting members of Gov't is PRECISELY the POINT of the 2nd A... you just have to have enough friends to WIN...

Words can indeed and can lead to tragedy. That seems particularly true when those words are organized, conspiratory, & professionally broadcast lies & innuendo which have been trying to create a cold civil war for seven months; and it's been publicly lead by behind the scenes power & influence; misguided power-crazy politicians; and zealots who won't accept reality. We know many of them. we see them all the time; they get majority of prime time film clips, sound bites and exposure.

But now the Democrats are so supportive; the involved Republicans are so brave; and we can see there are still a lot of brain-numb zealots out here. To Hell with all of them. They are all failing their responsibilities

Leaders: Get this nation back together or leave. I'm not going to act anything like the attacker in the incident today; but from here in our peaceful place I don't really care how any of these fake leaders check-out.

I'm one of Rep. Scalise's constituents, and I pray for his recovery as well as the other victims of this atrocity.

james daily said...

I am not sure if this guy was the worst shot ever or suicide by cop. There was an armed rebellion in Houston last week and nobody was harmed although there was many armed pissed off Texans. We seem to be inching toward another civil war and the liberals will definitely lose that since they do not own guns. Personally, I believe in gun control, hitting your target every time is perfect gun control. Again, libertards blaming the gun not the mentally deranged shooter. I am thinking my mental health is deteriorating putting up with these nitwits that want to kill our President. Just when the rodeo clown wore an Obama mask they were ballistic. This is getting close to the point of no return.

Emmentaler Limburger said...

@Colby: Because it's bad PR for his little bit of Utopia. He couldn't care less that a Republican was shot on his turf during his watch. He cares that an evil gun shot someone on his turf on his watch...

Emmentaler Limburger said...

Does anyone recall the libtards complaining that the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, Andrew Wilcow, Greg Gutfeld, Bill O'Reilly et al were fomenting violence against them? Where's the outcry now? And none of the aforementioned even ENTERTAINED the notion of, for instance, showing someone a severed Øbama head, staging a play in which Øbama is assasinated, etc. And who remembers the libtardian outcry against the Tea Party as being violent racists - right-wing terrorists - inciting violence against libtards when, oddly, there was nary a riot, brawl, or littered meeting place to demonstrate their fears?

Yeah. So do I. Seems their tolerance knows no bounds...

Boligat said...

@James Daily

They have to blame the gun, not the shooter. Since so many of these attackers are either terrorists or lefties, or both, the logical conclusion is that the mental state is what determines the outcome. Based on the outcomes, liberalism IS a mental disorder and we can't admit that.
