In the face of Saturday's appalling terror attack in London, we don't really want to waste many more words on Kathy Griffin. At some point, one is simply beating a dead whore (to coin a phrase). But in the former comedienne's news conference, she claimed that it was only because of a conspiracy by "old white men" that her ISIS-style beheading photo wasn't considered funny.
Days later, radical Islamic extremists were slitting throats with 12-inch blades - and there can't be any stronger reminder that the proper reaction of all people with even rudimentary decency is to be shocked and angered by this evil, lunatic carnage.

If it isn't happening to you or yours, the gravity of the situation is never really apparent. This is further compounded by the hatred the left has for Trump. People like her do not have the capacity to think critically or with a reasoned approach. The "Griffins" are one of the reasons that Republicans will do better in the mid-terms than even they expect.
What will take for the 'elite' rulers of our world to 'get it' ?
No theresa mae it's NOT the internet they used to commit these acts acts of terror.
No one was beaten to death with a computer or tablet....
Get a damned clue....
Yes, when will the world GET it? This murdering ideology has been going for 1400 years and the people in charge now are just now getting it. WOW! Know your enemy, then eliminate it.
@Judi King, excellent post! Either eliminate the enemy or use my new micro for postings - #HopeAndPrayersFor _______.
And the first responders (the police types) weren't even armed. Sadly, it makes me think of the Keystone Kops........... "Nuff of that. At least in my neck of the woods that kind of behavior (terrorism) will be met with extreme prejudice.
"Shocked" - no.
Sadly, it's become all too common as of late.
Angered, hells yes - angry at the media, angry at the 'do nothing' d-bags in charge, angry at all the snooping / monitoring of innocents, but doing nothing to prevent these attacks, and REALLY getting tired of the 'moderates' who, after all, are the greatest victims by FAR of radical Jihad, who appear to be doing precisely NOTHING to de-fund or otherwise dissuade any of it.
Sometimes I want to grab an Imam (one of the hundred or so in town) and shake some sense into them. WTF is WRONG w/ you guys? do you WANT to play 'Cowboys and Arabs?"
Then, of course, there's the Seiks, who wear turbans, don't cut their hair, and are often mistaken for Muslims, which they are NOT...
But some Murricans are just ignorant haters...
In my neck of the woods (literally-as the small community I live in is completely surrounded by National Forest), should some terrorists go on a rampage, I can always call 911 and hope that the sheriff or DHS (both of which have offices more than 10 miles away) respond before too many deaths occur; or I can trust in my neighbors who are all heavily armed.
Guess which makes me sleep better at night?
Yes, Geoff King, just like here in Appalachia, we would call 911 so that the LEOs can protect (HA!) what's left of the terrorists and clean up the mess. Difference being, we would dig a hole, toss them in, and cover them with pig guts and such. Then cover it up and plant something.
While she is now thankfully out of the news cycle, her press conference last week can only be described as loathsome and disgusting. In her private life, I'll bet she is a real piece of work. and for her lawyer, perhaps way back in days of yore when good old William was wring plays, he had lawyers like her in mid when he wrote, " ....let's kill all the lawyers."
Yes, Geoff King, I agree. I think that "the armed forces" in this country are more than enough to take care of the "snowflakes". I just have to wonder how long and how many uncalled for disturbances will happen before it all comes to a head. When it does, I know who will win. It will be a bloody mess though, and not something that I am looking forward to. We will have martial law for sure then. Oh well, I am 80, maybe I won't be around then.(hopefully)
I know, what a sour note to end on. This old world isn't getting any better, but we were not promised that it would until after the trib.
Just desserts it seems to me. The idiots in Merrie Olde made it the law that disarmed everyone (except the throat cutters) and in addition criminalized defending oneself.
But one notes that the constabulary did respond with alacrity; they were on the scene in ONLY eight minutes. Not a moment too soon to save those with severe abrasions from sliding on the pavement.
Strange isn't it that the only item that stops this carnage is (shudder) a gun and that is what the Brits banned. Bloody smart of them, wot?
What comes to mind is the continued debate and overruling of President Trumps Muslim country travel ban. Until we get a handle on the situation in our country, we should not allow more of this disease to enter the already wounded body of the U.S. We have had enough and finally we have a president who takes to task those things that will only hurt us in the end. Trump lover? No. Trump supporter? Hell yes! I hope he can clean it all up in eight years so we don't end up unawares as on 9/11. These attacks in Europe are a reminder of why we need that travel ban. Wake up, sheeple!
As for me self, I wonder what loose part of the brain in Griffin's empty head makes her think she is a comedian? Mayhem is not "funny" in the least, especially to those whose children and parents are victims. Did she really do this act to scare heil out of President Trump's young son Barron? The only good news from this fiasco is her short career is over and of course it is President Trump's fault since she is the victim. Action has consequences and stupid actions have "grave" consequences.
This one goes out to PM May...
Don't blame it on ISIS
Don't blame it on al Qaeda
Don't blame it on the Taliban
Blame it on the internet
There's only one thing to know for sure about Kathy Griffin: She's an attention whore. I don't exactly know what her business angle is on her recent seeming insanity, beyond the fact that she's managed to get the whole country talking about her, which I am sure is at least part of what she wants. That she's teamed up with Gloria Allred's daughter suggests that there is a business angle. The Allred's family MO is to attach themselves to high-profile yet legally dubious cases (that ultimately go absolutely nowhere in a legal sense) for the sheer attention, which then drives traffic to their legal mill. In other words, no credibility what-so-ever. I wouldn't be surprised to find that Allred is retaining Griffin, and not the other way around.
London: Just another day, or "part & parcel" of life in the big city as London's Muslim mayor recently put it. What makes the reaction to Saturday's attack interesting is that there's an election on Thursday. Theresa May's tone was decidedly more aggressive yesterday, although it remains to be seen exactly what kind of policy this may result in. A revamp of immigration policy or simply harsher hashtags used on Twitter.
Outside of the eliteosphere, the debate is now on if Britain has crossed the "tipping point" of no return in terms of remaining a "western civilization" beyond another generation. Does Britain still posses the will and ability to resist the their current trajectory? Or will they simply "carry-on" and endure the weekly slaughter, until the citizens finally conclude that pop concerts and pub-hopping are no longer worth the bother and risk and such activities simply disappear? Then what?
This is how civilizations actually die.
@ Ed G. Mann:
...good point. Speaking of points, I now wonder at what point I and my fellow Californians will be allowed concealed carry permits. Will the liberal politicians in Sacramento wait until the state is overloaded with Islamic terrorists who follow their London brethren? No matter: by then, I'll be "packin," laws or no laws.
Well said, SJ, well said.
When I was growing up in the '70s I recall that Britain used to have regular terror attacks. I remember reading about them in the paper - there were many and they were awful.
The difference with the proprietors of terror in the current day is that the previous perpetrators of terror eventually came to a civil agreement to stop their attacks. The current terrorists will never agree to that until they either kill everybody or rule the country.
Britain, islam is not the IRA and that distinction better be figured out before too long.
California allowing CCP? I'll believe that when I see it, but if you can open carry, that might be an option. I've seen folks here in NC walking around with a hog leg strapped to their hip, and I'm guessing they'd be the last people in a crowed a terrorist picks to attack. Granted, it looks a little... western, but what the heck?
Speaking of NC, our legislature is working on a bill to do away with CCP's, and not in the way you think. They want everybody to be able to carry concealed without a permit. Cool...
It used to be that terrorists would strike, then go into hiding. Today's version is emboldened by numbskulls like the gubmint officials who refuse to take swift and deadly action. "Oh, they're just getting even for all the years we beat them down. Not to worry, it's only a few deaths. Not all Muslims are that way. We need to coexist and show them our love."
We used to have a saying when I was a young man back in Wyoming (they probably still do). It doesn't do any good to close the barn door after the horse gets out. Way too many world leaders are actually holding the damn door open FOR the horse.
@Dick- Glad you liked it! CNN, on the other hand, now says I can't co-host their New Year's Eve broadcast.
@Jim Irre- You're right; there is so much blind hatred of Trump by the Left that they genuinely can't fathom that there are people who don't see things the same way. In the long run, Griffin won't really be hurt amongst Lefties, though she may be permanently unable to get gigs intended to appeal to middle of the road folks.
@REM1875- Indeed, using a computer or tablet as a shield might have saved some innocent victims.
@Judi King- But, but...Islam created everything that makes Western civilization great! Obama said so!
@Bobo the Hobo- That's a very sad "fill in the blank."
@Fred Ciampi- I hope the Brits will reconsider the policy that sends cops to do battle with terrorists with nothing more than whistles and batons. The killings only stopped when the guns arrived.
@Pete (Detroit)- There is a huge mosque near my home and if I'm unfortunate enough to be driving by when a service is letting out, it's genuinely frightening to see the hundreds of men (almost exclusively) wearing non-Western clothing. It just doesn't smack of cultural assimilation. And it's getting to the point that governments need to recognize that there is a real threat from non-assimilation.
@Geoff King- When response time is critical, it's good to be able to rely on something more deadly than a phone.
@Fred Ciampi- You paint a lovely picture.
@Fish Out of Water- I was fully prepared to let Griffin be ignored "old news" until she upped the ante with her horrendous news conference. Falsely claiming victimhood, and blaming misogyny and white-on-white racism was beyond the pale (pun intended in this case). And don't even start me on lawyers in general, or celebrity ambulance-chasing lawyers in particular.
@chef621- I truly hope that we never see the eventual shake out that you're describing, but it could very well happen. When idiocy is flourishing, bad results are predictable.
@Ed G. Mann- Eight minutes sounds like an eternity to me, especially in an area which you would think would have a high (and armed) police presence after the last (and recent) such attack on London Bridge. I don't know what the hell the Brits are thinking.
@Sandy Link- I agree, though I'll gently correct you on the phrase "Muslim country travel ban," which is the basis for the judges' objections to Trump's executive orders. Trump has not suggested a ban for most Muslim countries, and instead wants a ban on those countries which are in chaos, are hotbeds of terror, and can't provide reliable vetting for our immigration authorities to use. Trump's order makes sense, but it may never be enacted because of the false belief that it bans all Muslims.
@James Daily- Griffin has never been particularly funny or witty. She traffics in shock and rudeness, which can prompt low-quality laughter in certain quarters and certain circumstances. But I don't think she did the beheading stunt to be funny - she did it to present herself as heroic. Note to Griffin: it takes not a scintilla of courage to stand up to someone who presents no threat to you whatsoever. Get back to us when you're ready to pose with a blood-dripping head of Mohammed dangling from your fist.
@zregime- If it's the Internet's fault, maybe she can commission an app to stop the violence?
@John the Econ- The combination of Griffin and Allred's daughter is just mind-blowingly awful. I'm sure you're right that there is currently a master plan to make money out of all this nonsense.
And you're exactly right that accepting terror as "part and parcel" of life in the big city is how civilizations die. We are losing cultural momentum - assuming we haven't lost it already. Inaction can only work out one way, with Sharia on the horizon.
@Alfonso Bedoya- I sometimes wonder if the Left's wild aversion to conceal carry is due in part to self-awareness that they, themselves, lack the personal responsibility to handle a gun safely...and therefore can't imagine that others do have that maturity and accountability. Of course, I could apply that same rationale to a lot more than their opinion on guns...
@DrRiff- Excellent point! The goal of the Islamic terrorists is not peaceful coexistence of any kind: it is the complete destruction of all belief systems other than their own. There will not be a negotiated peace: in the end, they will win or they will lose - and the outcome will be based on how Western civilization decides to respond.
@Colby Muenster- Your observation about closing the barn door after the horses are gone is exactly right.
"There is a huge mosque near my home and if I'm unfortunate enough to be driving by when a service is letting out, it's genuinely frightening to see the hundreds of men (almost exclusively) wearing non-Western clothing."
There's more than one huge mosque near me. Aside from the sea of non-western garbs, these goat-humping morons don't have a bloody clue how to drive, either! I steer clear of any mosque-containing locations when the moon gives them cause to celebrate! My heart - and my auto insurance - can't take the stress!
Yeah, 0bama said a lot of nonsense.
As previously noted, I actually live in East Dearborn. In the 20 years I've lived here, the 'hood' has gone from nominally ~75% "Euro" to nominally ~75% Middle Eastern. Not that I can accurately ID Muslims vs Chaldeans vs...
The "largest Shia Mosque in America" is just up the road - Islamic Center of America - yeah, the one Terry Jones has a hard on to protest (costing me $$$ in police OT for 'security'... Thanks, douche...)
And today we find that (at least) one of the recent London dicks was apparently radicalized by a Dearborn Imam (jailed for tax issues some years back, possibly out again now?) via you tube. Yay, Dearborn Mosques...
ANY way.. it is quite common to see men walking the block in early am, or evening, in long robes (think ankle length 'nightshirt') and women fully covered in black. Woman next door will actually talk to me ('hi neighbor!') but anyone woman pushing a stroller will avert her face. Full burka, w/ gloves and face grill, I have seen in the grocery store. Sometimes, it's creepy...
However, next door neighbor on one side, some years back, had escaped from Saddam's Iraq. Typically, if he wanted to talk to me, he grabbed a kid to translate. Once tho, he called me to the fence.
"Tree" (pointing to my Ornamental Cherry)"what kind?"
"Cherry" I replied.
"Ah" (apparently he recognized the blooms / leaves) "Flowers, but no fruit? How?"
Thinking of trying to explain sterile ornamental trees, an idea popped -
GAWD how he laughed...
Point being - Islam is Evil, not all Muslims are...
Also, speaking of drivers... (a very NON PC comedy routine)
You know, in Saudi Arabia, they don't allow women to drive?
And can you BLAME them? Have you SEEN these women on the road?
There they are, dressed in their flowing gowns >koff< "trashbags"
with a tiny hole for the face (hands making a 'diving facemask' oval around face)
They turn to yell at a kid in the back (twist body and face to right, flailing right arm at kid, like any parent, but 'faceemask' stays aimedfwd)
then turn back forward, and 'facemask' turns w/ face, winds up pointing sideways...
Both hands come OFF the wheel to fix the hole..
Seriously, I'm half in favor of banning them here, if they have to dress like THAT!
Pete, I feel your pain. I lived in Dearborn for almost four years (1966-1970) while attending U. of Detroit dental school on East Jefferson. My wife and I bought a house in Dearborn for $17,000 by entering into a "land contract" with the owner; i.e., he held the mortgage, and we paid him each month. I remember having to travel Michigan Avenue each morning to get to school.
Luckily, we had no particular problems. My wife worked at Ford to help pay the bills, and I worked at a medical clinic during the summers and at Cadillac Towers in downtown Detroit to contribute what I could. 25 units per semester in dental school can be a killer, and there wasn't much time to do much except study and cross my fingers that we could stay together for the four years it took to get through school. Fortunately, we did, and when we left, we were debt-free.
Since Detroit was in somewhat of a downward spiral---even in the late 1960s, I didn't even wait to take the dental board exams and left for California a week after graduation. The school was run by the Jesuits, and if a student didn't toe the mark, it was outsky. A very, very tough four years, but that was why I chose the school. As a result, I passed the California Board exams with no problems, even though I was told that no one passed unless they had gone to a California school. I even ended up teaching at U.C. School of Dentistry in San Francisco, but that's another story.
Muslims at that time were unknown. The mayor at that time was a guy named Orville Hubbard. I like him because he ran the place with an iron hand. If an owner's yard was not kept up, and if he refused to clean it up, the city would do it for him, charging for the labor. Needless to say, I saw no yards or homes that didn't look like a ghetto. Before houses were sold, they had to pass inspection to ensure that the interiors had not been trashed. It kept the homes in demand, and prices stable.
Hamtramck, a largely Polish enclave near Detroit, served the auto industry. From what I understand, it is now largely Muslim. I visited a friend in a small town near Detroit in 1982, and haven't been there since. It would be interesting, however, to visit Dearborn merely to see how the Muslim "invasion" has affected the community, but to be totally honest, do I REALLY want to check things out there? Nah! I'm going to be 80 in September, and would rather visit Texas to do some varmint hunting, or at least somewhere where there is a modicum of sanity. Until then, I will stay in my native California and at least try to reverse the damage caused by the liberals who have infiltrated the state over the last few decades.
You said "Until then, I will stay in my native California and at least try to reverse the damage caused by the liberals who have infiltrated the state over the last few decades." and I wondered if there was a remote chance you could reverse the damage. Your only hope is that so many Californians, after voting for every idiotic liberal program available and then realizing California was no longer livable (but unable to see why), left there and came here to Colorado. So now we here have to find a way to reverse the damage all the former Californians did in the last 25 years. If you can do it, tell us here how it's done!
Ahh, Detroit. My birthplace. Once the 5th largest city in the country, with the highest per-capita income. Then - about 57 years ago - democrats took control and have held it ever since.
What a shining utopia they have made of it.
Here is a chilling but accurate history of Motor City, for those with a strong constitution or at least an empty stomach:
One of the nice things about Oregon is that it's still a "shall issue" state when it comes to CCP. Democratics from out of state (as in back east) haven't yet managed to screw that up.
Agreed, Hubbard ran the city w/ a tight fist, and he was pretty popular, re-elected for about 30 years. Sadly, one of his main agenda items was "No Blacks"
That's changed, but they still have the yard inspectors, and will mow 'for you' - for about $400 a pop...
My understanding is that the "arabs" started coming in the 70s, mostly living on SE side, by the Rouge plant, and the 'anchor cousin' plan has expanded from there. Overall, it's not a bad place to live, and we have some really GREAT schwarma, but there are culture clashes... Mom taught for a while (early 90s) at the East End high school (Fordson High) and commented that nearly half of the graduating girls were pregnant. They were, of course, all married...
@MAX: This state in center of the continental US had CCP and rejected it starting this year. No permit to carry handgun is required now. I clarified the new law with state troopers because I cross a state line often. They said if anything the state next door had looser gun law. Of course none of that BS ever applied to long guns. Low X coped Carbines and 12 gauges cover a lot of range with more accuracy and energy. Just don't get surprised. We're peaceful; but ready to bring it on. And the interesting thing is this created no big visible overnight impact or outrage. A lot of folks were already prepared.
@Pete (Detroit) and Geoff King---I just ran across this article about Hamtramck's new city council: a Muslim majority:
I don't know if Dearborn has hit this "high water mark" yet, but I am not placing bets that it won't. I well remember when people were all aflutter about JFK's being a Catholic. Islam IMO is not a religion, but an ideology that has no place in the U.S.A., and Hamtramck is or should be no exception.
The election of the Hamtramck City Council reminded me of Don Corleone's statement at the meeting of the five families in "The Godfather:" "How did things ever get this far? I dunno."
@Pete (Detroit) said "Point being - Islam is Evil, not all Muslims are"
Nobody in "racist" America paid Islam much attention until after 9/11. Before that, for most people it was largely a curiosity best known for NBA players with funny names tying to make political statements that they didn't even fully understand.
Like many people, I've met positively delightful Muslims and also some that I'm not entirely certain that I'd hit the brakes for should I find them in front of my car. That's just humanity for ya.
So I don't think all Muslims are evil, any more than I thought all Germans, Italians or Japanese were during WWII, or Russians were during the cold war. What fascinates me is how those who are not "evil" reconcile the transparently vile aspects of the Koran with their own "not evil" lives. Leads me to believe that they are more "cultural" than "ideological" Muslims, in the sense that most people who consider themselves "Christian" couldn't tell you much about the gospel beyond the holidays.
What I think these people need is an independent cultural identity divorced from the ideology or Islam. Unfortunately, I don't know how that can happen.
California: I think you're a bit late if you're hoping to turn things around there. (I gave up 20+ years ago) It's been a single-party state for the better part of the last 25 years, and the current state of affairs shows it.
I hear that they're actually considering a "single payer" health care paradigm for the entire state? They don't say how they're going to pay for it, because doing so would would make the bill DOA. Personally, I hope they go through with it. (I like it when bad experiments are conducted a good distance away from myself) Watch people with bad health migrate in while the tax-paying middle-class flees. Personally, I plan to profit by running a business shipping U-Haul trailers back for subsequent waves of tax refugees to leave...
@Pete: I drive past that particular mosque at least twice a weekday - to and from work. (And another, closer to my house. And another on Cherry Hill near Middlebelt... I'm sure there are others that I simply don't yet recognize as mosques...) And I never drive past that big 'ol Ford Road mosque on my motorcycle anymore. Too many close calls for my liking.
And, yes: I have many, many wonderful friends who also claim to be muslim. But, as John the Econ points out: I really don't think these are good, ie: "ideologous," adherents to the qur'an.
As an aside: it's a gas seeing these hijab-clad women chattering away with their cell phones jammed between their headgear and their ear. Technically, I guess that meets the criteria for hands-free...
@Readers- So many great remarks above, and I've been too busy to comment. Now I have time but, after enjoying a dram or so of a lovely and not-too-pricey Scotch (Grangestone master's selection single malt - 2nd stage maturation in a Sherry cask), I need to keep my remarks short so I don't embarrass myself any more than necessary.
It was sobering (ironically!) to read @Geoff King's linked article about Detroit's spiral down the toilet. You would at least hope that the rest of the country could learn from their bad example, but nooOOoooo.
And per various discussions above, I certainly don't hate all Muslims - but political correctness must not keep us from noting that there is causality and not just correlation when it comes to the religious ideology currently driving much of the world's terror. I have no idea how to fix the problem (does anyone?), but the current trajectory is unacceptable.
@John the Econ: the Single Payer bill was passed by the state senate a couple of days ago; it's now waiting for Moonbeam's signature.
I doubt anything much will be Ms Reality's punishment. She is, after all, a leftist and can literally get away with anything including murder. (EG the Clintons). The media, of course,. will be defending her.
