Christmas Weak

We'll admit it: rather than harshing our Christmas buzz by marinating in the news, we decided to give ourselves the precious gift of sloth. We also gifted ourselves with a buttload of extra calories, a 2 o'clock "Happy Hour," and some family binge-watching of "Ash vs. Evil Dead" which has finally made it to Netflix. The series is, in a word, "groovy."

But we haven't arrived at the blog empty-handed today! Just feast your eyes on this...

No photoshop was used in this picture. Honest!
Yes, it's an honest-to-gosh Donald Trump gingerbread cookie which we received in the mail today, along with a bunch of other homemade goodies from a special (and conservative) friend! We only took it out of its cellophane wrap long enough to take this picture, then carefully replaced it.

And while framing it seems appropriate, the reality is that it's probably not an option. So after a suitable period of Making the Cookie Jar Great Again, we'll have to eventually consume this spicy treat.

Interestingly, it isn't supposed to be dunked in milk. Rather, it should only be dunked in liberal tears - which, fortunately, are flowing freely these days.

You can't eat that. That's a work of art. Besides, an excess of salt isn't healthy.

Speaking of goofing off - I got a 1.75l jug of Gold Label Hornitos Reposado for Christmas from Santa. All I need is a bag of Key limes and a shaker of pink Himalayan sea salt. Now, for some serious goofing off while perusing #7 Game of Thrones.....................

Being retired, one weak pretty much looks like any other. No holidays, no days off, no sick days, no attitude adjustment days or vacation days. I use to love this time of year with the bowl games but now, could not care less. If I counted right there are 39 bowl games. When the great bowl games were played on New Years day, it was fun, sitting in the garage with 3 TVs, your neighbors, drinking beer and betting a $1.00 a game with a $1.00 pot on who picked the most winners. So this dead weak means little. HOWEVER, I have a feeling Mr. Stilt will hit his stride again after his hangover cure from the NY doldrums. These cartoons and comments are worth their weight in gold.

It's only a fantasy, but the cookie should be enshrined in Obama's presidential library, encased in lucite for protection, and under permanent armed-guard. It would prove an apt counterpoint for Obama's ever-brayed, self-proclaimed "legacy."

In the meantime, I'll keep a hopeful eye out for it at the next Girl Scout cookie sale.

In GOT #7, the first scene will leave you grinning happily...and it gets better from there!
I made mp4s of the entire 7 seasons to call out those people who say "I saw the "______" season(s) but never got around to watching any more."
Well, Binky, here ya go...cell, tablet, laptop; all play mp4s. No more excuses...gotta watch the greatest opera ever put on TV.
I have made it through over half a century of life without any addictions...til I watched Season 1 of GOT.
Thank God there are no programs to cure GOT addiction!

Happy New Year to all!

"Donald Trump gingerbread cookie" Better than the last presidential cookie. It was only half baked!

OSambo was a cookie for sure. However, he was just half of an Oreo!

@Sortahwitte- Maybe I just need to coat it with shellac...

@Regnad Kcin- I like your "'tween the holidays" plan! That being said, I've never seen an episode of Game of Thrones. Maybe I should give it a try.

@REM1875- I really, really, really intend to do some self-improvement that I've been promising myself for years. Hopefully 2018 will see it happen!

@Pete (Detroit)- I, too, have a soft spot for the old black and white retro line drawings that typified HnC for a long time. I eventually switched to a largely photo driven format, hoping that it would make people more likely to share the cartoons with others. Which only kinda sorta worked. Good luck on that job interview!

@James Daily- I'm at a point in my career where I don't actually know if I'm self-employed, under-employed, unwanted, or retired. When you've spent your life as a freelance writer, it's hard to notice the transition into a different lifestyle.

@Alfonso Bedoya- Oh, I'd LOVE to put that cookie in the Obama library. I wonder if Trump would be willing to give an Executive Order to that effect?

@Gee M- Well, now I suppose I have to try Game of Thrones. I'm actually surprised I'm not watching it already, as I was a Peter Dinklage fan long before this series. And I'm openminded enough to forgive the show's nudity.

@Mike aka Proof- I'm trying hard to resist making an Oreo joke...

@Walter L Stafford- D'oh! We posted about Oreos at the same time!

Obama, an Oreo,..I don't know...
unless they make one that's
'Chocolate Dark' on one side,
'Vanilla White' on the other, and
'Commie Red' in between.

It amazes me that in the end-of-year accounting of President Trump's term so far, nobody is mentioning his greatest environmental accomplishment:

Public school solid waste has been cut massively. Since President Trump was sworn in, students are actually EATING what is served for lunch, instead of dumping it in the trash!

Update - didn't get the job. Not TOO surprising, it wasn't really my line of work, and I would have been looking for something else anyway.
DID have a nice experience w/ the recruiter who really helped me w/ my resume, hopefully will be more interviews in the near future.
