"God bless trade schools!"

Barring an unforeseen miracle, today is the day that the Electoral College will cast its votes to ratify Joe Biden's election win, making history by forever changing the definitions of "election" and "win."

The voting will take place after the failure of a legal challenge, raised by Texas and joined by many other states, that made the reasonable-sounding claim that voters in states with fair elections are harmed by having their votes defecated upon by states with Constitutionally illegal elections.

In such state vs state cases, the matter is immediately sent to the Supreme Court for consideration. Which, being 2020, went like this:

On a "glass half full" note, rulings like this strongly decrease the likelihood that the Democrats will "stack" the Supreme Court, because why the Hell would they want to mess with a good thing?

President Trump still has continuing legal challenges to the (ahem) "election's" outcome, and is said to be considering an executive order which will create "The Supremer Court" to adjudicate. Okay, we just made that part up, although now that it's in print there's no telling if the President might actually use the idea and award us the Presidential Medal of Trolling Leftists.

BONUS: TIME APPARENTLY WAITS FOR SOME MEN

It ain't over. Not by a long shot. And remember EO 13848.

Let's hope there's a huge "swingers party" on the front porch of the Capitol in the near future. Afterwards, we can hang all of the "party favors" from the trees that line the National Mall, for all the world to see and celebrate. The warnings, er, "memories" should last for generations to come.

These are interesting times. The proposed President elect is a doddering older man, with dementia, a known criminal son, prone to plagiarism, has a running mate that couldn't get a hamburger with the money from her campaign, and if sworn in, will be a puppet for the Chicoms. Some might be extremely upset. Others will cheer, and the ignorance will continue to flourish like mold on bread.

It's early, but Jack Daniels is calling.

Fish, I feel your pain, especially as I am a lifelong resident of the Empire State. We seem to be a Carpetbagger magnet, Skankles and RFK being two of the most prominent. If there's a bright side, try to imagine Skankles' loathing and resentment at having to elect the first female president. Chardonnay by the the tanker truck!

@Zola: Good point about electing a female President. But I believe the mist obscures your vision.

While scanning the news this morning, I see yet another retread from the worst electoral mistake since the peanut farmer from Plains Ga's administration will be put forward for a high government position. This increasingly says to me the person behind the curtain the worst electoral mistake since the peanut farmer from Plains Ga, has been pulling the strings all along to get a shadow, 3rd term in office.

Agreed. There is though a reason for you to be so accurate. Not that everyone would agree, but as a moderately spiritual person myself I believe that Matthew 4:8-9 explains why some world leaders come to power.

Just my two cents worth.

I'm pretty sure that Obama's glove puppet will be sworn in in Jan. Have you noticed that every challenge to the sham vote has somehow been defeated before that evidence can be presented? Hmmmm.

Anyway, you will have to come up with a snappy title for your blog to replace Hopey Changey. Harrised Beyond Endurance?

As I've said here many times, it wasn't enough that Trump win. He had to win https://www.steynonline.com/7571/beyond-the-margin-of-lawyer"beyond the margin of lawyer; by enough votes in enough states that any credible challenge by Democrats would have been impossible. And had the election taken place last January, it certainly would have in a landslide of the sort we hadn't seen since the success of 4 years of Reagan buried the "let's go back to the policies of malaise" Mondale. Unfortunately, the the Wuhan Flu destroyed the economy for most of the people who had benefited from post-Obama era and the engineered social disorder and Trump's unable to address it effectively did the rest. The Democrats were finally able to harness Trump's biggest weaknesses against him.

Unfortunately, beyond the margin of lawyer is likely to be the standard that all non-Democrats will have to face from this point forward.

We can bitch about how unfair this is, but that won't change the reality. So how do we change the reality going forward?

Well, IMHO we can go back to educating people of the benefits of the conservative lifestyle; that being a dependent on government by design is for losers. And when I say "educating people", I don't mean spending the day on social media propagating insipid memes like the basement dwellers. I mean living life. Nothing pisses off angry Progressives than non-Progressives living their lives in spite of what Progressives think. Today, you are nobody in Progressivism unless you can lay claim to some form of victimhood! How pathetic is that? It's an endless race to the bottom!

Let them own the bottom.

Living life with joy by intent is contagious. People want to know and be like such people. And they want to know what the secret to that life it. That is the education!

After 5 years of watching the mental illness of TDS infect the left should be an education to us. Let's make people want to be more like us than more like them.

Time usually is not gracious to Time's Person of the Year: Anyone remember who was Time's Person of the Year last year? You had to think about it, didn't you? Just how much of Greta have we seen in the last 12 months? Not much since the phony "climate crisis" that is supposed to kill us all was replaced with a real crisis that might kill just .03% of us.

In 50 years, just how many people will remember Joe Biden or anything relevant he did versus Donald Trump? Biden will be lucky to be a Jeopardy question.

@Gorgon Zola, funny that the state that is such a carpetbagger magnet is now projectile vomiting citizens to lower-tax, less-regulated states. Correlation or causation?

The saddest part of this is that the Federal Supreme court ONLY has ONE Constitutionally mandated task and that is to settle differences between the states. That is why it was even created. The founders wanted a way to prevent states from having borderwars to settle their differences. All this other stuff they do is unconstitutional (there's that word again). They aren't even supposed to review the rulings of State Supreme Courts until there is a difference in rulings on the same subject! yet only 2 of the 9 even acknowledge this role. No peaceful resolution leads to non-peaceful revolution!!!

Awww, ballz
Got the call tonight, Dad joined Mom in heaven, approx 8:30
At least we hope they're both there.. If not, well, keep prayin..
Mom passed out of the blue on 11/1, Dad's been in hospice for cancer since first of Aug..
Wouldn't say anything about it, but geeze I taly to y'all more than "real" family anymore (ok, not the brothers, but the aunts, cousins, and shit) and just felt I should share..
So, Not asking for anything (but prayers for the repose of he soul, natch) Just letting everyone know where I'm at (and I know many have gone before me) and if I'm skittish, you might know why
God Bless, and TELL your loved ones you do... (mine never did, the rat bastards)

Velveeta Processed Cheese Food said...

@Pete. My thoughts are with you. I lost my father, the best man I ever knew, in '98. Mom went 3 years ago. In both cases it was a blessed relief. Dad fought prostate cancer for 13 years. Mom probably had cancer when she went, although it wasn't diagnosed.
I gave my Father permission to die. He had been fighting the cancer, carting all over the state to different specialists. On a Friday I took my folks to their family doctor. The doc finally came clean and said it was hopeless. I told Dad if he was fighting this battle for us, he didn't need to. He had taught us how to live, and we would be OK.
He had walked into the doctor's office, and walked out. The next day he was down, and a week later he was gone, at home, surrounded by his family. He hung on until my sister arrived from Arizona to say goodbye. Five minutes after her arrival he was gone. I helped my sister wash his body, as I wanted to touch him one last time and know it was real.
I got through the funeral and etc. without crying. I did that a day later when I could go to the cemetery by myself. I went back a number of times until I was cried out.
Death has been on my mind tonight. Earlier tonight I learned of the death of the eldest son of an estranged loved one. I'm not sure, but I'm almost certain he took his life. Happened months ago and I didn't know. I feel pretty crappy right now.
Hang in there. You don't have to be strong all the time. I don't know if this helped

@Igor- I'm not considering the "election" over yet, but will admit that with my arms getting tired from dogpaddling mid-ocean it would sure be nice to see a ship on the horizon.

@B.C.- So now you're putting these people (however briefly) on a pedestal? Nice to know that the healing has begun!

@Fish Out of Water- If BDS does break out, it will never be reported by the mainstream media.

@M. Mitchell Marmel- Unfortunately, at this point the only sort of real "reckoning" I can imagine would be akin to the passengers on United flight 93 making their last stand. They "won," but it still didn't work out all that well for them.

@Jess- Ooh, you're drinking the good stuff!

@Edam Wensleydale- Exactly! If the former Veep has been selling influence to our enemies, then there's no "derangement" involved in thinking his happy ass should be in jail.

@Fish Out of Water- This explains why when the electoral votes were tallied, the call went out: "Okay, who voted for Hillary?!"

@Gorgon Zola- Thanks for pointing out how miserable Hillary must be at seeing the likelihood of someone ELSE being the first female president. I needed a dose of schadenfreude this morning.

@Fish Out of Water- I haven't seen the story you're referring to yet, and am already having a crappy enough day that I don't know that I'll go looking for it.

@Anonymous- I'll counter with Colossians 1:13 "For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness." (Trivia note: this is where Dominion Voting Systems got their name).

@Murphy (AZ)- Actually, I consider it a handy timesaver to see people I already hate being appointed, rather than my needing to learn to hate a whole new crop of assholes.

@Brie Camembert- I have inside information that Kamala's Vice President will be a group appointment of the women on "The View."

@Fish Out of Water- "Glove puppet" is a lovely reference!

@Average Joe Bro- I like it!

@TrickyRicky- Right about now, I'm wishing I had something considerably stronger to put in a pipe and smoke...

@John the Econ- Great comments, and why the hell I'm writing this blog instead of you remains a mystery. And special thanks for the most useful insight I've seen recently: since it would be a Very Bad Idea to take up arms and start shooting in random directions, and since mainstream media/culture is (for now) beyond redemption, the thing we all actually CAN do is live our lives well adhering to actual moral standards, responsibility, and a good work ethic - then let the rewards (even if only our personal satisfaction) be a nettle to those on the other side. And hopefully, someday, an inspiration to them.

@American Cowboy- It really is. If there's one thing a liberal/progressive hates, it's a happy conservative.

@Anonymous- If he's tossed out, I think we give him "The Office of the President-Eject."

@Pete (Detroit)- Ooooh, "Commander in Cheat." I'm using that!

@Anonymous- The Supreme Court continues to be a devastating disappointment. Politicians in choir robes are still, apparently, politicians.

@Pete (Detroit)- Aw, geez. I'm so very sorry for your losses. My Dad died before my Mom, and it threw my family into tumult. When my Mom died, I became an orphan - and still am at age 68. But I'm sure glad you're here, and at this point a lot of us are a family of sorts. Long distance hugs, brother.

@Velveeta Processed Cheese Food- Thank you for sharing your story and, again, please accept a long distance hug (it's okay, I'm wearing a mask and showered in Purell). Death has been on my mind today, too. This being a spectacularly sh*tty year, Mrs. J decided to open some Christmas cards for a jolly start to her day. The first one announced the death of a friend I've had for fifty years, and contained his obituary. It happened months ago (in his sleep, which is a blessing - albeit one that sucks) and it took his widow until now to find my mailing address.

But like all of us, I'm still in the fight. Currently decorating the Christmas tree while sipping some 12-year old sherry cask-aged Macallan scotch (the GOOD stuff) which I was fortunate to receive as a gift. Frankly, the decorated Christmas tree is being put up as an "in your face, 2020!" gesture.

I heard Ol' Joe on the radio this morning again, quacking about how he wants to unite us and "work together" to restore civility, yadda yadda, blah blah blah... Well, to paraphrase Die Hard's John McClane, Yippi-ki-kum-ba-ya, motherf**ker! You and your supporters have spent the last 4 years endlessly trashing us and everything we believe in and hold dear, and now you wanna make nice? Like it was OUR fault civility got thrown in the crapper?

As far as I'm concerned, it's now open season on libtards (and I mean that strictly metaphorically). Done being the passive dumb-ass, I am.

But... @John the Econ has a very good point above, that living a good happy and satisfied life despite the liberals hate for us is the best way to stick it to them, but I am also done being a patsy.

And @Pete, much sympathy. I'm watching several elder family members going downhill very quickly this year, mostly mentally. I won't say I hope for a quick release because I dread that day, but it would ease my heart about them. Losing your mind, memories, and self is the worst.

John the Econ said...

@American Cowboy said "Living a good, and happy life is the best revenge, isn't it?"

It really is!

@Pete (Detroit), so sorry to hear this. You are all in our prayers.

I lost my parents over a decade ago. They were both in pain, so I was okay with them going although they both died much younger than they should have. They should have had many more years of the good life. Seeing that has caused me to live my life a bit more intentionally that I had been.

As strange as this may sound, their funerals were some of the best days for me. My siblings did hospice ourselves for my mother, and I was mostly with my father at the end, which was both physically and emotionally exhausting. At their memorials, I saw people that I hadn't seen in years, and some who hadn't been in the same room for decades along with people I didn't even know. It was a strangely fun and cathartic event. I felt so much better for the experience. Funerals really are for the living.

Which is why I feel especially bad for those who this year have had to endure the loss of loved ones from a distance and alone. I've lost several friends this year, and attending a "Zoom memorial" is not the same.

John the Econ said...

@Stilton, you write this blog because you are more creative than I am, and perhaps a bit less lazy. And your friends are prettier than mine. I just enjoy having been not kicked out. Who knows, perhaps in a different place or time we could have made a great team!

Another Mark Steyn observation is that politics ultimately follows culture. It's nonsensical to expect that conservatives can fully steer the politics of the nation having surrendered the culture to Progressives for the better part of a half-century. Until conservatives make inroads with recapturing at least some of the culture, politically we will continue to wander in the wilderness.

That's why I bring up living your own life as best you can in spite of the onslaught.

For example, when discussing creeping socialism, I tell the millennials who think that socialism is such an awesome idea that it will have to be coercive in order to work. When they reflexively deny that idea, I tell them that when the state graciously gives me everything it thinks I need to live and attaches my labor to to pay for it, I'll simply stop working, and retire in my 50s like they do in Greece. They'll say that the government will then have to take steps to "encourage me", like attaching my savings, home, etc to make me pay my fair share like they'll have to.

Wait, didn't you just tell me that socialism wouldn't turn coercive this time?

Then what I'll say is that they can take every penny of my savings, (which they'll soon be doing without a single vote or shot fired via inflation anyway) my home and personal property. But the one thing they will never be able to take away from me are what used to be the uniquely American economic experiences and opportunities I've had though most of my life. They'll never have those themselves or the standard of living I've enjoyed over the last half-a-century. Socialism will deny them that. By design. To be "fair", after all.

So live your life well while you can. And then continue to do so when they think you can't. Who knows? Perhaps enough of them will figure that out before it really is too late.

@Stilton:

"it would be a Very Bad Idea to take up arms and start shooting in random directions..."

No argument there. I will remind everyone of Jeff Cooper's Four Laws of Firearm Safety:

1.All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.

2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy. (For those who insist that this particular gun is unloaded, see Rule 1.)

3. Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target. This is the Golden Rule. Its violation is directly responsible for about 60 percent of inadvertent discharges.

4. Identify your target, and what is behind it. Never shoot at anything that you have not positively identified.

2) and 4) are particularly important.

Pete (Detroit) said...

3M - had an unintentional discharge at the range, once... was casing the rifle (a .22) "stored" a magazine (w/o double checking it was effing EMPTY), closed the bolt, and pulled the trigger to relieve the spring... can't call it an "accident", I loaded it (Rule #1) and pulled the trigger (#3) - fortunately, #2 (pointing it down range / sage direction) prevented more than embarrassment...
Thanks, all, for the kind words / prayers, it means a lot. Been sitting here w/ moist / leaking eyes, and it's good to get it out... Agreed, the current situation is crap, for funerals, which is partly why we haven't had one for Mom yet (lost her, suddenly, out of the blue, on Halloween) - that, and dad was hoping to save a $$ or three on a "Twofer"
Effing depression babies... He'd been in home hospice since end of July, and all the brothers did turns w/ them. With help of a professional for overnights, I think we took FAR better care of him than he would have got in a 'facility' of any sort... I hope it helped him find cloture. He was mostly lucid, though frequently confused about where he was (usually thinking he was in Traverse City, near where he grew up (On a farm, by Torch Lake, and he still has a sister there) or Grand rapids (Where Mom's sister lives) or once, on a train (let's go to the dining car!)
I am a bit pissed that he never ate any of the beef stew I made for him, on Sat... ah, well, more for me... Took rather a while for the funeral home folks to pick him up last night, long evening w/ sibs, talking trash about him, bro from MN who was not there (driving in tomorrow)
Not exactly 'Good Times', but useful...
Anyway, thanks again for the shares and prayers, and illigitum non corborundum, or something like that, eh!
(also, in re "commander in cheat"feel free, anyone. Like "elected reprehensitives" I'm sure I'll get a tickle from it every time I see it!)
