Yeah, he really said all that |
I'm still in "looking aghast from the sidelines" mode, but felt like it was time to post a little something to remind people that I'm not dead, dying, nor incarcerated. Yet. Plus, this will give us a nice clean slate for the comments area, where intelligent and well-informed people are still posting the best chat on the Internet.
And despite my ongoing sabbatical, I still hear the drumbeat of ongoing news. Although it might just be my throbbing headache.
• Nancy Pelosi is single-handedly choosing the (ahem) "bipartisan" members of a committee to investigate the January 6th Patriots Picnic in Washington, which Dems and the media are breathlessly calling "the most deadly assault on the Capitol in 200 years." A ludicrous thing to say, even though it was the most deadly event in Ashli Babbitt's life.
• The Dems look likely to pass Bernie Sanders' 3.5 Trillion Dollar (actually 5.5 Trillion) spending bill soon, meaning the value of Monopoly money is about to surge when measured against the buying power of the American dollar.
• The Olympics are allegedly taking place in empty stadiums, which is a pretty good metaphor for the lack of enthusiasm people are feeling for the event. Personally, I've given up caring about the USA teams because there's been so much political nonsense and so many personal anti-American demonstrations on and off the field leading up to this event. Here's a wild idea: in the future, howzabout we ask athletes if they have any problem with showing respect to the American flag before putting them on Team USA?
• Although it almost looks like a hint of sanity, I'm not getting my hopes up too much over the fact that Joe Biden ("The Most Popular Man Ever To Run For Office!") keeps seeing his approval ratings fall, recently hitting the 50% mark. Even more telling is a recent poll that shows a majority of Americans (Conservatives, Liberals, and Independents) now view our nation's future pessimistically, with actual optimism falling a full 20 points since May. Nice job of uniting the country, Joe!
• Federal officials have already apprehended ("Welcome to the United States! Here's a plane ticket and some walking around money!") over 1.1 million people crossing our border with Mexico this year. We know that the Democrats' goal is to alter voting demographics permanently, but just how much impact can these "immigrants" have? Here's a fun fact: if you put all of those people in one place and called it a state, it would immediately have a greater population than nine of our existing states do.
Of course, the Left's goal isn't to create a new state, but rather to ship just enough of those people to existing states to change the demographics, cause redistricting, and sway elections (at the same time the Dems are coincidentally trying to federalize elections to ban voter IDs). Currently, our military is being used to fly these intruders to all 50 states rather than, oh, carpet-bombing our southern border. Which strikes me as a damn shame.
• On a personal note, I'm currently recovering from a very uncomfortable urinary tract infection. I won't go into details, but as a gesture of solidarity, I will never again participate in a weenie roast.

I saw where a couple from Ghana were coming across the southern border. They speak English. She is a baker, he is an electrician. They may have accidentally let a couple of potential productive citizens into the country!
The fact that a sitting president can make a statement about "sucking kids blood" and it not blow up the MSM says all we need to know about the future of the country.
I plan on boycotting the Olympics until all the women's events are done using classic Greek gymnasium attire.
I'm all in favor of flying illegal immigrants...to the part of their home country farthest from the United States.
And my January prediction of bloody civil war by years' end stands.
@ Redleger:
Aw, c'mon man! Donald Trump said "Covfefe"!
The welcome mat at the border is open to anyone wanting to upgrade their living conditions except Cubans.
Actually, he didn't say it; it was a tweet typo, shortly deleted thereafter.
Whatever "covfefe" is alleged or imagined to mean, it's admittedly a lot less cerebral and evocative than "sucking the blood out of kids." Now that's sheer presidential poetry.
"Here's a wild idea: in the future, howzabout we ask athletes if they have any problem with showing respect to the American flag before putting them on Team USA?"
Hear here!

Welcome back Stilt. I can't comment on what I am thinking because then the black SUVs will be coming up my driveway and I just ain't in the mood.
I misread that next to last item and my heart skipped a beat - I thought it said "Federal officials have already beenapprehended...". Oh well. Maybe it was just wishful thinking.
I swore of politics and cancelled Fox News. Lasted a year, but I couldn't sty away.
Waaay our here in Montana, we combat urinary infections with cranberry. You can pay for a bottle of the pills or just buy a bag of cranberries and freeze them. Chew 'em up at the same frequency you would take the pills. Yes. They do work.
Frankly you need an attractive Hillary Clinton "Get Out of Jail" card. You know the kind ... "Did you do something bad; Murder, Dereliction, lie? Just tell authorities to give you a hillary on it.
email me and I'll give you the excellent artwork. You can print your own on Avery. Sell them in prisons and get-rich-quick the Hillary way.
It is so good to hear from my friend Stilton. When you don't post, it's like a day without
(fill in the blank). I have not heard from anyone from the un about "saddle up, we're gonna straighten out the cretins!" They, like their peace keeping forces, are mostly made up of rapists, murderers, thieves and bullies. When a few die from a long range 7.62x51 they will probably loose their motivation. Which brings me to the international olympic committee. They must be run by the un. It's just another bunch of thieves and politicos.
It all boils down to: What's in it for me?
@Stilton… sorry you’re feeling piss-poor and hope you are well soon. Going back in time, whatever happened with the nightmare-ish uncontrolled punching of yourself while asleep? Did it resolve itself or what? Interested in learning if the cause was determined.

There'll be trains of blossoms(there'll be trains of blossoms),they'll be trains of music(.There'll be music)there'll be trains of trust, trains of golden dust, come along and surry on this train,of thought...
I just thought a little Laura Nyro would lighten the miserable news.It always works for me.
Thanks for posting, Stilton! Hope it didn't raise your BP too terrible much.
Is there any doubt what Pelosi's little investigation will reveal? The question is, sill they try to impeach 45 AGAIN? I just hope that someday soon, the true Republicans will regain power, and WON'T get total amnesia like they usually do. I grow weary of Republicans' inability to retaliate.
For the first time in decades, I am NOT watching the Olympics. I also enjoyed the living shit out of the US women's soccer team getting skunked by lowly Sweden! May they get totally eliminated! However, my heart goes out to those athletes who went there to do their best and represent their country. They are being ripped off by the a-holes who hate their own country.
Concerning the 1.1 million illegals. I say they should all be given a tent and a 6' x 6' patch of sidewalk in Nan's neighborhood.
Concerning urinary tract infections, I use Jack Wiegman's method, sort of. Get some cranberry juice and throw in a shot of your favorite bourbon. I don't think Clan MacDraincleaner would go well with the juice.
I need to stop watching and reading the news, it's so silly and borderline depressing. And my blog reading needs to be limited to fun & sweetness & light ones.
I almost forgot to say hello to America's Sweetheart, Busty Ross! Hello!
A day without Busty is like, you know; night.
Well, my refrigerator went out and I had a colonoscopy last week. Things are bad all over. Seriously, great to hear from you again. I had a monstrous UTI several years ago and wouldn't wish that on anyone, except Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Barry Obama and all the rest of those treasonous Democrats. There's not enough bandwidth to name them all.
First of all, you owe us nothing. That'd be Democrat thinking!
My Biden fav from last week was his proclamation that his trillions of dollars of non-stimulus spending would actually reduce inflation. Perhaps the man on the moon or aliens could explain to me how that is supposed to work.
Pelosi's Commission: Really can't care less, as we all know it's a sham to begin with; nothing more than another opportunity to promote the phony narrative that the real threat to democracy are conservatives who want nothing more than the government to leave us alone.
In case anyone is curious, this is what a real insurrection looks like.
Bernie's Bill: I'm nearing the point of putting a Bernie bumper sticker on my cars; His next move is expanding Medicare eligibility from 65 to 60. That bumps my retirement 5 years closer and adds another 5 to the number of years that the millennials who think that socialism is gonna be a cool deal for them will be paying for it.
Olympics: Depressing.
As for the brainless athletes that think it's cool and empowering to diss their country on an international stage, I'd like to point out that the professional athletes that have been doing this over the last couple of years already had contracts and have long since made their money and had comparatively little to lose. When the Olympics are over, nobody is going to care or remember your names and Nike can't afford to hire all of you. Hope you have second careers lined up.
If America is such an awful country, why are you even competing for our glory? What's the point other than your own self-aggrandizement?
If you really feel that way, why don't you go and compete for some other more enlightened country, if you can find one? No, for most of you that won't happen. This is the one country that made your trip to Tokyo comfortably possible.
You are little more than physically talented trite narcissists.
The most popular not-orange President: Biden was supposed to be the rational not-Trump choice for President. But many are now coming to the conclusion that there really isn't much difference between Biden and Sanders in a practical sense. I mean, what would Bernie be doing differently at this point, beyond not having to answer for a son that peddles art worthy of 6-year-olds and yet sells for hundreds-of-thousands?
And Kamala is working hard to score even lower than she did during the primaries. It's almost as though she'd been attending the Hillary Clinton School of Appealing to the Deplorables.
Immigration and the Great Cognitive Disconnect: Am I the only one who seems to correlate a shortage in housing (and hence ever-rising prices) to the fact that we are absorbing literally millions more people per year than we can possibly build housing for?
And prayers for a quick restoration of a healthy, pain-free flow.
@ bidenhasnotrain of thought … Cheers!. We can all use a little stoned soul picnic!
@Mike aka Proof said "I saw where a couple from Ghana were coming across the southern border. They speak English. She is a baker, he is an electrician. They may have accidentally let a couple of potential productive citizens into the country!"
@Bobo the Hobo said "The welcome mat at the border is open to anyone wanting to upgrade their living conditions except Cubans."
Quite frankly, I wish we could do a protester exchange with Cuba. Let's take in the brave citizens who a risking life and limb protesting against a dictatorial communist regime and send our over-educated over-white economically-useless Portland-like discontents who think that an America that even allows them to exist is just too bad.
@Redleger, just another extreme and yet common example of the difference in treatment Democrats get versus conservatives. You are right, we have no meaningful 4th Estate.
@M. Mitchell Marmel, that would certainly solve the inequity issue regarding men versus women's sporting attire.
"Covfefe": What I found most interest about what was obviously a fat-fingered typo was that it consumed an entire news cycle. It reinforced Trump's strategy of playing with the media like with a laser pointer and a cat.
You have to keep rooting for a lot of the athletes - our swimmers and members of many other groups are completely patriotic. It's just a shame that the women's soccer team, men's basketball team, and some of the track and field athletes have spoiled things for them!
Regarding the Olympics, have you seen the news about the American woman gymnast who is so good that the judges are supposed to downgrade her scores so the other "athletes" don't get the sads about their not-even-close showings? Yes, Simone Biles (I think that's her name) is going to get all Harrison Bergeron-ed by the Olympics because she's SO MUCH BETTER than the rest of them.
Is there a universe I can go to where sanity reigns?
@ John the Econ:
" I mean, what would Bernie be doing differently at this point..."
Probably nothing, but he'd be doing it all day and coherently.
Screw the Olympics.
When they let a "man" compete against the women, that was the last straw.
.
NSF
@noelle44, I do root for the real Americans. I don't watch soccer, but if did I'd be rooting against the American women's team as well as the Men's basketball and the other spoiled brats.
@JustaJeepGuy, hadn't seen that, but I guess we just chalk that up to "equity". I like when Progressive insanity is applied to sports because competition makes it very clear what the practical effects of Progressivism on real-world performance really is.
Doesn't matter now, because Simone Biles just pulled out due to some medical issue. Too bad.
She's a class act and I wish her well.
@Anonymous, I will be rooting for that he/she weightlifter. I hope he/she gets the gold. How the media treats this and how the public reacts (especially in certain cultures) will be entertainment gold. Will he/she be exalted as a breakthrough for transdom, or will they cover this like nothing special at all and completely normal? Can't wait to see!
For decades, the left has accused the right of conducting a covert "war on women". Well, here's a real war on women on international TV.
@Mike aka Proof- I'm guessing that the Left is discouraging the admission of potentially productive immigrants because they can't be counted on to vote for Dems in the future.
@Redleger- The "sucking kids' blood" remark is farther out in space than Jeff Bezos ever got. But the media just doesn't care...
@M. Mitchell Marmel- I applaud your idea for bringing back the "old ways" of participating in the Olympics!
@rickn8or- Interestingly, "Covfefe" makes more sense than anything I've heard Joe Biden say in years.
@Bobo the Hobo- The last thing in the world the Dems want are people who are passionate about freedom.
@Anonymous- I'm still amazed (and yet somehow not surprised) that the media made such a big deal out of "Covfefe."
@RayK- Seriously, shouldn't that be the FIRST level of qualification to be on the team?
@Fred Ciampi- Oh, I'm not "back" exactly. I mostly wanted to remind people that I'm not entirely "gone away" either!
@Jerryskids- My heart genuinely yearns to see a "perp walk" of federal officials who are long, long overdue for arrest.
@Anonymous- It's a tricky balance these days; you want to be informed but you don't want to get "played." I think I remain at least marginally in the know by reading the Wall Street Journal daily, then watching other sources with an extremely cocked eyebrow.
@Snark- The only upside to my UTI is that the medication makes my pee into a vibrant shade of Halloween orange. Seriously, I should keep a jar of this stuff with which to dye easter eggs.
@Jack Wiegman- Trust me, I'm chugging down plenty of unsweetened cranberry juice (mixed with diet ginger ale). I don't know if it will help, but with a painful UTI "might help" is good enough!
@Sortahwitte- I agree; the most effective use of UN troops is sending them to areas that are low on pedophiles, rapists, and sex traffickers.
@Bobo- Kind of you to ask! I still have "Jarlsberg's Palsy," although it's not as bad as it used to be. I had all the tests in the world, but no real diagnosis was ever made other than "you're probably nuts." However, since I've spent my entire life being probably nuts, I would have liked to know what made the difference? When falling asleep and waking up, I have mild but significant involuntary body movements. And it's annoying, but I'm used to it at this point. Although I recently had to tell an anesthesiologist (prior to a colonoscopy) to be aware that in semi-sleep I'm likely to start exhibiting seizure-like activity. She was glad to know that BEFORE declaring an emergency!
@TrickyRicky- Ashli Babbit was an American Hero and martyr. Say her name, folks.
@bidenhasnotrain of thought- Yeah, Laura Nyro is always good.
@Colby Muenster- I don't think the goal of Pelosi's January 6th charade is to impeach Trump again, but rather to clear the way for draconian suspensions of freedom for people like us and blogs like this one.
Regarding the Olympics, I absolutely support (well, in my heart) the great athletes who really believe in our country. But life is complex these days, and I have neither the time nor inclination to study all of the athletes to make a list of who is good and who isn't. So my personal choice is to say "the Hell with the Olympics."
For UTI treatment, I haven't tried Clan MacGregor and cranberry juice, but in the interest of science... (I'll be right back)... Oh, SWEET MOTHER OF PEARL, that is a bad, bad combination. The tart bite of cranberry coupled with the medicinal mouthwash taste of cheap scotch. Seriously, kids, don't try this at home! Bleh!
@Dan- I'm with you. And my goal is to make this space more fun...I just haven't had inspiration hit me yet. But I think we're at a point in time where it's a good idea to ignore the faked news narratives which are intended to ramp us up.
@Sortahwitte- Ms. Ross is always a welcome visitor here, and makes things better just by existing.
@Shelly- Not only would I wish a UTI on some people, I'd wish my UTI on them!
@John the Econ- Well, I do feel like I owe something to everyone here. Not because you're all "entitled," but because it's my way of saying a sincere thanks for your camaraderie.
I won't address all of your comments point by point because I just did an ill-considered experiment with Clan MacGregor and cranberry juice. But great points all!
@Bobo the Hobo- I can think of several souls that need stoning...
@John the Econ- More well-expressed goodness!
@noelle44- In my heart I'm for those good athletes.
@JustaJeepGuy- I hadn't heard that the judges were penalizing Simone Biles for her unbelievable excellence. I've watched some of her routines in slow-mo and she has no respect for the laws of physics. She's incredible and deserves better than having her hard-earned talent and skills downgraded.
@rickn8or- You make a good point.
@Anonymous / NSF - Maybe the presence of a "man" in the competition will help open some eyes. We can hope, anyway.
@John the Econ- Yep, yep, yep!
Stilt: If your taste buds are still functional, then you must have the ratio of Clan MacGregor to cranberry juice wrong! More Clan, less cran!
@Mike aka Proof- The ratio was 50/50, with the total amount being about a half shot of each. YOWSAH it was bad!
Back in my college days, my twin brother and I participated in a number of experiments in the psychology department because they LOVE twins. A memorable experiment was to check how well we performed with a snootful of alcohol. I'd done very little drinking up until then, so was unprepared for a cocktail which was half unsweetened cranberry juice and half vodka. Tasted awful, but it was certainly effective! Granted, the cognitive tests we then took are sort of a blur now (grin).
@Stilton - Is Busty Ross called Miss Ross or Mrs Ross. I know not what this "ms" is unless its a typo. Surely not PC speak??
Mrs B Camembert
@Stilton,
I believe I suggested bourbon. I can only imagine cranberry would be an especially horrible combo with any single malt, even the expensive ones! Still, your willingness to try it is extremely admirable! When I was in college, the chemistry major in the dorm room next to mine would steal pints of pure ethyl alcohol from the lab. We would mix it with a batch of KoolAid, and half the dorm floor could get wasted. Ahhh... those were the days!
As far as the Pelousy circus sideshow goes, yes, the libs want to take away as much freedom as possible, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they don't also go after Trump, yet again. I say, "keep it up, bitch!" The shoe may be on the other foot someday.
“I'm guessing that the Left is discouraging the admission of potentially productive immigrants because they can't be counted on to vote for Dems in the future.”
Funny how people who have survived countries ruled under Progressive policy want nothing more to do with it.
