Believe it or not, this really isn't just another crass use of the no-longer-copyrighted "Steamboat Willie" character. Because the story above is true and if that terrified rodent isn't the original humanized mouse, I'd like to know who is.
Having learned nothing from creating and releasing Covid into the world (other than that pandemics are awfully good for political tyrants and pharmaceutical companies), playful Chinese researchers have now modified a pangolin brain virus to make it completely deadly to humans, because such medical research is absolutely vital if you hate humans.
So far (or at least as far as we know...) it's only been tested on "humanized mice" which have been scientifically altered to have human genes so they can be tortured without having the ability to file lawsuits. And the new virus has killed every last one of those little humanized cheese nibblers, presumably when their brains turn into an inflamed slurry and ooze out through their perfectly circular ears. Which is likely what would happen to 100% of infected humans if the virus escaped, so isn't it good that Chinese virus labs are so very, very secure except for their open windows, screen doors, and tendency to sell dead animal specimens to wet markets for soup stock?
There's pretty much no reason that researchers would want to create such a thing unless it could A) be used as an apocalyptic bioweapon, B) make a lot of money for companies coincidentally selling pangolin brain virus vaccines, or C) beat AI to the punch of killing us all, giving humans quite literally the last laugh.
Which is why we should immediately be taking common sense safety measures including, but not limited to, calling together the world's leading gain-of-function researchers and, after careful deliberation, displaying their heads on pikes.
Until then, whether mice or men, we should all have the willies.

The people creating these dangerous viruses are doing it on purpose. They think they'll never be affected by the results. They are mistaken.

You didn't mention where the lab was located. If it is in China, I think a missile or two is warranted. If it is in this country, maybe three.
Why are we wasting so much treasure on creating lethal viruses? What a waste. Can't we just kill off a few million people the old-fashioned way? with nukes!
Never forget, the Covid-19 research was planned and paid for by the US government.
@Readers- I take a slightly inebriating medication (a micro-dose of prescribed ketamine) as part of my grief therapy and when I encountered this story, still slightly buzzed, I thought I might be hallucinating it. But no such luck.
I am in complete agreement with @Snark that we should nuke these "research" sites until there is nothing but radioactive white hot magma. Think I'm joking? Not in the least. These assholes are one mistake away from potentially wiping out humanity. And that's giving them the benefit of the doubt that someone might not release it on purpose.
As @McChuck points out, our tax dollars helped pay for the creation of the last pandemic and, until evidence to the contrary is presented, we might as well assume that our government (and Anthony "Dr. Mengele" Fauci) are involved again. This madness and unspeakable evil needs to be stopped quickly, kinetically, and with extreme prejudice.
It's going to take a rising up of the citizens of the Republic to remove these criminals from our society and take steps to prevent this madness from taking over! Hell, they've already infiltrated the system so deeply I think the dog catcher is suspect!

I'm surprised we're even hearing about this. Given the evil deeds we've already witnessed, I'm sure this isn't the only lethal bioweapon they've created and perfected, and continue to manufacture. I'm sure that's their primary objective. There's just so much evil in this world, I prefer not to know too much about it! When God decides it's my time to go, I'm ready for it, I just hope it's quick and painless, not by losing my mind with my brains oozing out my ears!
