House Arrest

stilton’s place, stilton, political, humor, conservative, cartoons, jokes, hope n’ change, kavanaugh, supreme court, FBI, Feinstein, Las Vegas, mass shooting

Sometime later this week, we can confidently predict that Democrats and the media will be howling in anger at the inconclusive results of a weeklong FBI investigation into what may or may not have happened during a two minute period behind a closed bedroom door in an unknown house on an unknown day, month, and year, with no witnesses, approximately 36 years ago.

Unless the FBI gets access to a time-traveling DeLorean, there's simply no way they can find out anything new. Not that the Democrats actually care. Their attitude, to paraphrase Doc Brown, is "Where we're going, we don't need evidence."

To put matters in sad perspective, today is the one year anniversary of the nightmarish Las Vegas shootings that killed 58 people and injured hundreds of others. It was the largest mass murder in U.S. history. The FBI has now had a year to investigate what happened in a bedroom that became a sniper's perch. They've been able to draw on their own investigators and labs, the Mandalay Bay resort's security personnel and apparatus, multiple closed circuit cameras recording videos before and at the time of the event, and the statements of countless witnesses.

And they've come up with nothing to explain how and why this bloodbath occurred. What happened in that bedroom remains a mystery.

This being the case, it strains credulity to think that, given seven days, even the FBI can somehow divine the truth of a brief alleged bedroom humping from decades ago.

Of course, even if the FBI could produce absolute proof that Brett Kavanaugh is 100% innocent of all accusations, it wouldn't change a single senate Democrat's vote against his confirmation. Because this dissection of a good man isn't really about Kavanaugh at all. It's about protecting the Left's "right" to continue dissecting unborn children without any pesky legal restraints.

We don't know yet how this will play out, but we do have to acknowledge that the Democrats have worked tirelessly to ruin Kavanaugh's good name. They have worked so hard, in fact, that we think they deserve some time off from public life when all this is over.

Another 36 years feels about right.

I'm mad as hell thinking that this Democrat miscarriage of justice might prevent a good man from getting confirmed.

And I'm embarrassed as hell that Jeff Flake is my Senator. What a flaky RINO. I'm glad he is a quitter so I can vote for Martha McSally who says that in Washington they need to grow a pair . . . of ovaries. We could use a pair right now.

Will I agree 1000%. As a fellow Arizonan I'm embarrassed by everything Flake has said for the last 2+ years and yes we need to get Martha back east.

The Republicans need to demand an FBI investigation of Ms. Ford, whose story is weak at best and could be laid to drugs. (it WAS the 80s) It doesn't seem possible to "remember" a boy's name but not remember how you got to an alleged house or to your own home or who was there or how many were there. Ridiculous! The dims also need to be investigated by the FBI for ALL their misdeeds. Especially find out who leaked Ms. Ford's name. DiFi perhaps? How about Ms. Ford's therapist? That person's notes should be subpoenaed An investigation should go both ways.

So, the question is; what's going to happen if the libs keep poking the bear? Someone above mentioned 800 yards, of the 63,233,612 patriotic veterans (approximately), at least half can perform that magic. I was talking to a prog and he told me that he knows someone who has a gun and that WE should be afraid. I asked him what kind of gun his friend has. He answered "I don't know but it's real loud and hurts my shoulder".

I'm going to go hide and bring a barrel of moonshine with me....

Can we trust the FBI now? Their track record over the last 10 years seems to show they lean towards protecting the Demonrats.

I can just hear the FBI's response to the request: "Yes, sir! We'll put crack agent Strzok and his faithful side... side... His faithful... uh.... We've got Strzok and Page on the job, sir! And they'll go as low as they have to to get to the bottom. Of this - the bottom of this! Yes, sir!"

If you ask why democrats want open borders, someone will explain that the democrats expect illegal aliens to vote democrat. But why do the democrats NEED alien votes? Could it be their enthusiastic support for abortions since Roe vs Wade has killed off generations of potential democrat voters?

I didn't fully understand the 800 yard comment either. If it's about firearms and accuracy I know the Springfield 30-06 back at it's introduction (and so maybe still does) SUPPOSEDLY had an "effective range" in war of about 700 yards... but for most of us: accuracy is totally shit that far out; and for me even accurately glassing the target at that range is iffy. The down range energy is iffy as well. Wildlife can be tough.

But my 30-06 hunting rifle 30-06 bench rest shoots the Center X out of 200 yard target bulls eyes, and in 45 years so far has never required a second shot on Whitetail Deer. I'd call it reliable for hunting to 300-400 yards depending upon conditions unless you're just lobbing lead down range. Up here if someone is trying 800 yards they're probably shooting into the neighbors property. And I've met a few of those asses.

I know that on opening day out in the county it often sounds like a war broke out all around us with multiple shots from the same location and firearm. I THINK that means those folks are lobbing lead. When you hear a single shot then silence that was probably a hunter.

james daily said...

I doubt the FBI will investigate anything on Ford as CIA is a blood brother to them so they will let that slide. On the LV shooting: https://www.geopolitica.ru/en/news/witness-who-identified-las-vegas-multiple-shooters-found-dead
No surprise there.
I will donate to the Go Fund me for Kavanaugh. It would have gone to Sen Cruze but this is even more important. Besides, Sen Cruz has the most outstanding Resume I have ever seen. Prosecutor Mitchell put out a report completely exonerating Kavanaugh: https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2018/09/breaking-sex-crimes-prosecutor-rachel-mitchell-completely-exonerates-judge-kavanaugh-in-new-report/
Then, lastly, the democrats sure remind me of the "The Picture of Dorian Gray" where they show decency but their real picture is old, ugly and depraved and yes, they also sold their soul.

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Readers- Well, I screwed up and I'd be a poor host if I didn't admit it. In the original version of today's commentary, I ended with a punchline suggesting that the Senate Judiciary Democrats spend some time in Las Vegas, the clear implication being that they might come under sniper fire. Clearly I was kidding, but it was still wrong on a number of levels. This blog never advocates or condones violence, and to suggest - even jokingly - that there might be a circumstance in which a Las Vegas-style massacre might not be a bad thing was just flat out wrong. Additionally, my comment could be seen as making light of the terrible tragedy that happened one year ago. That was most certainly not my intent.

The commentary's punchline has now been altered, but it wouldn't be right for me to make an editorial change (which I almost never do) without noting it. I apologize to all of you and will try to do better - and let me give a special shout-out to Daughter Jarlsberg for being the "better angel" on my shoulder and asking me, ever so nicely, to rethink this.

Shelly said...

@Sandra Brown, this is not a true He Said She Said. In that instance, there are only the two people telling different stories. The She in this case named an eyewitness to the so-called crime who refutes the accusation. At that point, it became She Said They Said.

I cannot describe how sickening this whole episode has been. Confirmed or not, and I fervently pray for confirmation, that vile old witch Feinstein needs to be brought up and raked over the coals and then expelled from Congress.

zregime said...

Stilt, no apology needed. Anybody with a brain knows the Vegas shooter had left wing ties and sympathies. Else it would have been front page for a month. SHOOTER VOTED FOR TRUMP. No edits were needed either, but what’s done is done. And never y’all mind about that trending Kavanaugh hashtag on Twitter - they’re the Good Guys!

John the Econ said...

Brilliant comparison, @Stilton. There are few placed on the planet with more cameras per square foot than a Vegas casino/hotel, and yet after a year of investigation, we know little more today about what really happened than we did a week afterwards.

But seriously, does anyone really expect the FBI to come up with anything insightful, much less factual? Of course not. It's all about killing time.

And that time is being spent digging in and doubling down on stupid. I lost count of how many people I saw who had no problem voting for a Clinton at least once repeating the "I believe all women" meme. Just because I'm an a**hole, I've taken to bookmarking those comments so that the next time there's a prominent Democrat in the spotlight that needs saving from actual sexual malfeasance, it will be fun dumping those comments back at them.

IMHO, the GOP should have brought in Creepy Porn Lawyer's client, Julie Swetnick to testify instead of Dr. Ford.

And remember, this is bigger than just Brett Kavanaugh. Under this new "Kavanaugh Standard", nobody is safe from vague and completely unprovable accusations of poor behavior (not even rape) from decades ago. Right now, it's Supreme Court Justices they're going to use this for. But we won't need to be too patient for this to be used against others at every level of society. First they came for the Supreme Court nominees...

Pete (Detroit) said...

In Re Vegas - until they admit there were multiple shooters, they're still just lying to us...

In Re Kavenaugh, I sincerely hope the FBI comes back and says "there was nothing of substance in any of these accusations"
Not, as has been well noted, that it will make ANY difference.

Thanks to Shithead Flake, the vote has been delayed a (totally useless) week, which we all know if WAAAAAAY short of the Democrat's goal of delaying until at least January. So who's going to be the next RINO to demand we "investigate further; a week isn't even close to enough!"? Collins? Murkowski? I would not be surprised if it's my own, precious Richard Burr.

By the way, what the heck is Flake doing, anyway? He is not up for re-election, so why'd he throw Kavanaugh under the bus? I smell a rat. Or maybe more accurately, I smell a completely staffed, private beach house in Cancun.

There's a guy running a pool at work on how many Swetnik's and Ford's "come out" this week. I figure at least three.

@Stilton,
No worries! We all get hoof and mouth every now and then, and you have explained yourself very concisely (and publicly I might add)!

Colby Muenster said...

@Pete (Detroit),

Yup! The FBI has already investigated the hell out of Kavanaugh, and that apparently meant nothing to the Dems. I am also hopeful they come up empty handed, and perhaps with Comey and some of his goons gone, we might be able to actually expect some fairness.

@Will Hepburn- You mention preventing "a good man" from getting confirmed, and that goes right to the heart of things. We'll likely never know with certainty what happened that night (certainly not rape) but we DO know who Kavanaugh has been for the last several decades: a demonstrably good man. The Dems should be ashamed.

@M. Mitchell Marmel- I understand the all-inclusive price includes an open bar!

@JRMD- I'm savoring that notion, too. Frankly, I think Kavanaugh has too much integrity to carry his personal feelings into a case. But if he changes his mind in the light of certain recent events, so be it!

@Aesop- There's no fooling a master storyteller like you! (grin)

@Sandra Brown- It's actually "she said, they said." Indeed, it's time to move on.

@Joseph ET- I'll check that out.

@Rod- I hope you were knocking on wood when you wrote that!

@anthony arrigo- Frankly, I didn't know much about Jeff Flake until recently. What I now know, I don't like.

@Judi King- There are many things that need to be investigated about Dr. Ford and the way this whole thing was handled.

@REM1875- It's impossible to know what the next earth-shaking subject of drama will be, but it's a sure thing that there's always another one coming around the bend.

@B Martin- Well put.

@Fred Ciampi- I pray things will never go that far.

@Alan- I've got approximately 0% trust in the FBI these days. Comey, Page, Strzok, and company killed any respect I formerly had for that organization.

@Emmentaler Limburger- Exactly!

@Anonymous- You make a very valid point. Sadly, and with the Dems much to blame, many of those aborted children are likely to have ended up as wards of the state - ie, Democrat voters.

Rod said...

@ Stilt: And I hope banging my head counts as knocking on wood.

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Geoff King- Glad to hear that a cleansing is taking place.

@Bob Singer- Awesome!

@WDS Societal Dreg- I'll be glad to see her finally go.

@Rod- I'll freely admit that I know nothing of such hunting related matters. Although I know enough to hit the deck is it "sounds like a war broke out."

@James Daily- I read somewhere today (so take it with a grain of salt) that the FBI will NOT be investigating Ford or details of her story. I hope that's incorrect, but who knows anymore?

And your reference to Dorian Gray is frightening: considering what the Dems look like already, can you IMAGINE how nightmarish their hidden portraits must be?

@Shelly- I basically echoed your answer above before seeing your comment. Great minds, etc, etc.

@zregime- I honest don't know what the hell was in the Las Vegas shooter's mind. He may have just been a psychopathic SOB who wanted to kill. I will admit, though, that the absolute lack of answers is awfully hard to believe. Was something else going on here? Is there a cover-up? I don't know, but my mind isn't closed to the possibility.

@John the Econ- You're quite right that no one on the Left really expects (or wants) the FBI to find anything conclusive. This is all about running out the clock and, so far, that slimy strategy is working great for the Dems. And you're also right that if this smear of Kavanaugh works, we're all in trouble. Laws and courts don't matter, including the Supreme Court, when the #MeToo movement is sufficiently weaponized to end careers with unproven allegations.

Along those lines, someone pointed out that this may actually hurt women in the job market; what sane male is going to make himself vulnerable to whatever a disgruntled female employee might accuse him of?

@Pete (Detroit)- I'm not satisfied with the dismissal of those witnesses who said there were multiple shooters. And the fact that those witnesses keep dying rather unexpectedly doesn't help any.

@Colby Muenster- I can't quite buy Flake's explanations for why he's done this, even if it was simply ass-covering. Something smells here.

@Colby Muenster- I truly hope that good FBI agents (and they are surely in the majority) are the ones running this investigation.

@Jess- So you think relaxing bubble baths is the answer? What the heck, I say we try it.

@Sortahwitte- You paint a grim picture there.

@Alan- Links are fine (and that's a pretty compelling video). I just wish it was easier for people to post links here and have them magically turn "clickable." Sadly, my site is too primitive to allow such. You CAN post clickable links by entering the right HTML code in the comments.

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Rod- It definitely does. Plus, it shows real commitment!

John the Econ said...

"...someone pointed out that this may actually hurt women in the job market; what sane male is going to make himself vulnerable to whatever a disgruntled female employee might accuse him of?"

This is certainly not the first time I've hear that. And I would not be surprised, which of course, would be the basis for more government interference in our lives. But I think the collateral damage from this is going to be far more unexpected and widespread than people currently think.

For example, It's my understanding that young women these days are far more aggressive than the variety we were familiar with generations ago. I've been told that it's women these days are just as frequently the aggressors and instigators in dating and sex. Combine that with the confusing "betaization" of American males, and the roles are effectively reversed.

So I'm pretty sure that in the decades to come, the new Kavanaugh Standard may be applied to women as well. That won't go over well.

Of course, my other theory in which I have more confidence is that the cultural invasion from the south and east (that Progressives are without irony pushing for) will provide the pushback for this. Those people don't take "no" for an answer like Progressive beta males do.

@Judi King,

John the Econ said...

@Rod, I recall actually swimming in the Salton Sea in the very early '70s. As the video points out, this was around the beginning of its decline. In later years into the '90's, I used to go camping with friends in the desert nearby. As the video points out, there's little reason to actually go there anymore.

The Salton Sea was an accident; the result of a break in canals that were being expanded for farming along the Colorado River. The former dry lake which was over 200 feet below sea level was uncontrollably filled for 2 years before the breaks could be contained. Since then, most of the inflow it gets is from a limited amount of rare local rain and agricultural runoff. So not only is it going to continue to shrink, but will also grow chemically dense. I don't think I'd swim in it today.

The last time I saw it was about 15 years or so ago from the air with a friend I used to fly with. As the video points out, it's kinda surreal with streets and infrastructure for cities that were either abandoned, or just didn't happen in the first place. But if you're looking for somewhere in California where you could own a home near a beach for less than a million, this would be it.

Texas Senate candidate Beto O'Rourke apologized Monday for once writing a critical review of a Broadway musical in his college newspaper that said the actresses' "only qualifications seem to be their phenomenally large breasts and tight buttocks."
