Have You Driven A Fraud Lately?

stilton’s place, stilton, political, humor, conservative, cartoons, jokes, hope n’ change, HR1, voting, Democrats, Pelosi, fraud

The only thing worse than do-nothing Democrats is Democrats who actually do something - because that's never good news for citizens, the Constitution, or the country.

In this case we're talking about the House Democrats passage of HR1, which would modify federal election law in much the same way an atomic bomb modified downtown Hiroshima. Seriously, the Dems' "For The People Act" should be renamed using an entirely different f-word, because if enacted the "people" will no longer have a real say in electing presidents...only an illusion sloppier and less convincing than the farce we saw in 2020.

It's worth reading this entire article which discusses the most jaw-dropping abuses in the bill, but allow us to give you just a taste:

• HR1 will allow anyone from anywhere to vote, as long as they "affirm" that they're an American citizen. That doesn't mean showing documentation of any kind - it means the person promises that they're telling the truth. Pinky-swears are optional, depending on the state.

• States will not be able to cull voters from voter rolls just because they've moved, died, or live at an address which belongs to a vacant lot.

• "Election Day" will be at least 15 days long (including early voting), and mail-in ballots must be accepted up to 10 days after election day (no postmark? No problem!). Essentially, we'll now have an "Election Month."

• You know those mail-in ballots we just mentioned? They can't be excluded just because they happen to be the wrong size, the wrong shape, not printed like other ballots, and not sent in anything even vaguely like an official envelope.

• People who request a mail-in ballot even once will automatically receive mail-in ballots for the rest of their lives, if not longer.

• People who show up to vote who have no identification, no proof of residence, and have never voted before will still get to vote - and their vote can not be considered "provisional" just because it lacks anything like credibility.

• Anyone 16 or over applying for any government benefits or services will immediately be registered as a voter. Oh sure, 16-year-olds can't vote yet, but it will be handy to have them already in the registration system just in case the law changes 24 hours before the next election.

• In states that require a voter to declare party affiliation to vote, the people who are applying for government benefits (and are therefore subject to instant registration) will have to declare which party they plan to support. No doubt after being made aware that if they happen to pick the wrong party (nudge-nudge, wink-wink) that their benefit application might get "lost in the system."

• This one is amazing for its sheer gall: the government will give individuals $25 vouchers to donate to the federal candidate of their choice, after which the government will amplify the voice and impact of those little people by giving the candidate an additional 600% in matching funds for each contribution

There's much, much more - but trust us, if HR1 becomes law, no Republican or true Independent will ever win another national election.

HR1? Horrible Reality? Hateful Rhetoric? Has-been Republic??

I thought it was the state's responseability to set election rules. Isn't this unconstitutional? How can the federal government tell the states how to conduct their elections? That is up to each individual state legislature.

@2Dpdionne... Unconstitutional? We don' need no Constitution.

I fear not, though, 'cause I'm sure the Rogers court will take up challenges and decide everything strictly according to its originalist constitutionality. Yeah. I'm sure of that.

Sadly, Article 1, Section 4 I'd pretty open:
The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators

Basically, the State Legislators make election law, unless the Federal Government overrides it.

And there are STILL some people who claim that patriotic Americans must "go along to get along" and cannot allow themselves to "sink to the level of the left".

Obviously the soap box and the ballot box have failed.

I think we all know, alas, what this means. :P

@MMM: Yes...but coincidentally there is no longer any ammunition on the shelves. One might even think that it was arranged. Or something.

M. Mitchell Marmel said...

@Snark: I'd be more concerned were it not that all of my friends and acquaintances are, to the best of my knowledge, adequately supplied already...

My main complaint on that score concerns the hoarders and profiteers, but Karma will come around and bite them on the ass soon enough.

Next up pewlousy and company will declare us a one party country. Wait, that's what uncle Joe did a hundred and some years ago.

If you have a "collection" of ball ammo, FMJ, consider replacing the pellet with same weight soft nose or hollow point, and re-sighting Old Betsy. This time around, the Hague Convention ain't in it.

Oh, cool, this totally lifts the burden from my shoulders. I no longer have to worry about elections or any voice in my government, it will all be taken care of for me. My ballot (or several of them) will show up without me even having to bother. All I need do now is collect my little government check and do as I’m told.

I am completely without ability to rationally comment on this. I suppose I am at that point of resignation a healthy person feels when the doctor has told him he has about a month or two to live.

I think that silly old document called the Constitution doesn't allow the federal government to mandate election laws. It's that old fashioned idea that the framers considered every state sovereign, and the collective powers to only include national security, a method of communication, a collective funding for the general public good, and the demand the rights of all individuals wouldn't be compromised by the meddling of piss-ant politicians looking for ways to increase their wealth.

Will their be litigation if the law is passed? Sure, but Roberts will have to pull his tail from between his legs to uphold the document he swore to protect. Of course, this means fessing up to his improprieties. I doubt he has the cojones.

We have to destroy democracy to save it!

I've moved twice over the last 20 years. I have to wonder if I'm being out-voted by myself.

Funny how the left always argues how we have to be more like the "enlightened" Progressive states of Europe, and yet propose things that would never be tolerated even within the existing Progressive havens. Jimmy Carter when he was doing his international "election observer" thing would never certify the last several American elections for a multitude of reasons.

Democrats have decreed that 12-year-olds are mature enough to change their sex, so they're certainly mature enough to vote for Democrats.

Which makes sense, because it now feels like the country is being run by emotional 12-year-olds.

If the new nazi/commie party does send my $1400 I promise to not buy more hammers and nails. However, I will be buying waterproof whatevers to store that hobby material beyond the sunset. Who, in their wildest dreams, would have ever guess this country would surpass nazi germany in censorship and book banning. Book burning will be coming soon. I have always said the german public went along because they liked it. A big part of our society likes it, too. Stay away from the train tracks.

I guess one could argue that a rising tide raises all boats (or maybe more accurately, a ebbing tide sinks all boats). If cheating becomes legal, couldn't BOTH parties participate in the cheating? Nope! This bill is written to take full advantage of the upper hand the Dims already have, like colleges "educating" their students about voting. Hell, they're already doing that; HR1 just legalizes and encourages it. How about mail in ballots? Can we really believe that any Republicans will get more than one, or maybe not even get that many?

I also wonder about the deal where you are automatically registered to vote when you turn 18. Registered as WHAT? In NC, you can pick Democrat, Republican, or Independent. How will this automatic registration system know which party? Gee, I wonder.

If this crap (God forbid!) actually makes it to Sleepy's desk, there WILL be court challenges, but the Supremes have dropped the proverbial giant-assed football in a big way lately, so I have zero confidence they would do what's Constitutional now.

In unrelated, but no less maddening news: It looks like Porkulus is going to go through. It gives me a slight bit of joy knowing that I will spend my share on as many nails as I can find. Mrs. Muenster's share too. Yes, I know that small chunk of change pales in comparison to the fatted calf of spending that is NOT going to the people, but I would love it if the Dims realized just how many of those checks are going straight to hammer and nail sellers. By the way, if you do the math, 1.9 trillion divided by 330 million citizens means every citizen will be paying out over $5,700 for that $1,400 check. Even the citizens who won't see a dime.

The left is leaving us no choice but to "Let's Roll!" The big question is what side is the military going to come down on when "Sticks and Stones" become "Hammers and Nails".

For those of you that have friends and contacts in ranked military circles it might be wise to start asking and then disseminating that information.

@Mike aka Proof- I'm going with "all of the above."

@Dpdionne62@gmail.com- The Dems' bill would only affect federal elections, although the great likelihood is that most states would then shape their local election laws to be compatible rather than having two sets of elections (when there's a national contest).

@Dan- Expanding on your point, there's no need to worry about "constitutionality" when one party has the ability to pack the Supreme Court with ideological puppets.

@Stevarooni- Yep. And that's why we're hosed.

@American Cowboy- Sadly, we DO have to sink to their level. That's why I supported Trump without actually ever loving him. But his wild and unpredictable style was the ONLY effective way to deal with the Left, and we need more of that now.

@M. Mitchell Marmel- Well, if history is any precedent...

@Snark- Which reminds me, whatever happened to the millions of rounds that were being bought up by governmental agencies (like the Agriculture Department) under Obama? Do they have some hellacious arsenal somewhere?

@M. Mitchell Marmel- A pox on hoarders and profiteers!

@Fred Ciampi- If HR1 becomes law, it won't matter if there's a second party or not. Talk about a moot point...

@Alej- I'm ashamed of myself for snickering at "ball ammo."

@KanB- I'm pretty sure that's the general idea!

@TrickyRicky- I know exactly what you mean. How much pounding can our psyches take? All of these changes to election law would be plenty enough to be upset about, but then we're also treated to larger floods of illegals (carrying Covid as a bonus), spending bills so large that they're begging for hyper-inflation, and foreign nations warming up their nukes because our nation has become so weak so quickly. And there would be more things to be depressed about if I cared to take the time to think of them. So I won't.

@Jess- I think the Constitution allows the federal government to set the rules for federal elections and, as I opined somewhere above, most states will fall in line just to keep things simple. And by "simple" I mean "unbelievably corrupt."

@John the Econ- Honestly, if 16 year olds get the vote, why NOT give it to 12 year olds? As you point out, they're unlikely to be any dumber or more ill-informed than the nitwits who are voting now.

@Sortahwitte- The gummint isn't sending me or Mrs J any $1400 (or anything at all) because somehow I manage to be considered one of the Evil Rich, despite my being on Social Security. It's a funny old system!

And yes, we're seeing some really scare things going on in terms of burning and banning certain forms of speech, and demonizing folks like us enough that any ugly "clean up" efforts by the government will meet with approval from the Woke culture.

@Colby Muenster- The Supreme Court soon won't be a factor at all in stopping the Dems, and the Constitution will be downgraded to "old parchment of minimal interest."

And it's not lost on me that I'll be PAYING for the porkulus bill even though I won't receive anything from it. Or at least I won't receive anything I want.

@Gonzo '57- I wish I could disagree with you.

I don't know why the Demo_Rats are pushing this HR1 and letting the illegals pour in. I've said it before, the Demo_Rats already know how to steal an election; they will just do it the same way every time now. The Demo_Rats already stole a Presidential election; what WON'T they steal?

Fred Ciampi said...

JustaJeepGuy, you ask "what won't they steal?" They WILL try to steal our freedom next. They have a good start already. That part I do not see happening. We have the guns and ammo and they don't know what gender they are. 'Nuff said.

Like you Stilt, I'm on Social Security but managed to be classified as "evil rich".
I got $544 of the $1200, $0 of the $600 and will get $0 of the $1400.
With more capital gains sitting in my pipeline, I'll certainly be paying "my fair share".

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@JustaJeepGuy- To achieve socialism, the Dems HAVE to overburden our system with illegals. It will destroy labor markets and "force" the government to tax the living crap out of the "evil rich" in order to provide for all of those (ahem) poor people. Put another way, they're creating a humanitarian crisis in order to enact draconian control.

@Fred Ciampi- Right you are. Our freedom is what they most want to steal.

@Edam Wensleydale- With all my heart, I hope that doesn't happen. That being said, I'm not going to bet against it.

@PaulGRH- Hey, another member of the "evil rich!" Have we ever run into one another at an Opressors Club meeting? And following along the lines of who isn't going to be getting payments, we got a letter yesterday from Social Security saying that Mrs. J's monthly checks have been stopped for now so the money can help defray the cost of her "free" Medicare. The rat bastards.

@Stilt,

You said, "It will destroy labor markets and "force" the government to tax the living crap out of the "evil rich" in order to provide for all of those (ahem) poor people."

The fact that almost all of the "evil rich" are Demo_Rats is what makes me really wonder what is up with the plan. Do the "E.R." each think they will somehow be spared and that only the "TRULY evil rich" will pay the taxes? It reminds me of the time Ted Kennedy gave a speech in which he said "We need to make the ultra-wealthy pay their fair share!"--as though HE himself wasn't "ultra-wealthy".
