It's Good To Be King

stilton’s place, stilton, political, humor, conservative, cartoons, jokes, hope n’ change, martin luther king, mlk, joan baez, sex, fbi, jfk, secret, files

The so-called "JFK Files" recently released for public consumption haven't done much for conspiracy theorists who were hoping to find out how deeply Lyndon Johnson, the CIA, Woody Harrelson's father, and the Illuminati were involved in the Presidential assassination.

But the reading isn't all boring as, for some reason, the FBI reports on Martin Luther King Jr's alleged sexual escapades in considerable detail.

Mind you, the FBI was very interested in taking down King at the time, as his talent for social disruption (which was good in this case) can't be overstated. And so we can't say for certain what in the report is or isn't true. Which won't keep us from looking at the "good parts" and wiggling our eyebrows like a licentious Groucho Marx (which may be redundant).

For instance, the report claims that folksinger Joan Baez was one of King's many extra-marital conquests, and further suggests that the civil rights icon was given to orgies, and enjoyed "unnatural" and "abnormal" sex.

Describing the hijinks at a ministerial workshop, the report says"several Negro and white prostitutes were brought in from the Miami area. An all-night sex orgy was held with these prostitutes and some of the delegates in attendance." Additionally, "one room had a large table in it which was filled with whiskey. The two Negro prostitutes were paid $50 to put on a sex show for the entertainment of the guests. A variety of sex acts deviating from the normal were observed."

Obviously, we should all be offended by the outdated language in the report which is no longer socially acceptable. Oh, not the "negro" part - at least until the NAACP changes its name. No, we meant the parts which described any sexual act as unnatural or abnormal, which certainly doesn't square with current liberal attitudes about creatively and wantonly sticking things where nature didn't expect (or design) them to go.

In the age of Bill Clinton using Monica for a humidor, Harvey Weinstein giving a potted plant a pearl necklace, and Lena Dunham filling her sister's wahootie with gravel, we're experiencing a little nostalgia for times when some things were still considered perverse.

Put another way, even if the accusations against King are true (and we're not sure they are) we're betting he never did anything that you can't currently see on a popular HBO series.

Perhaps it's time our culture started showing more interest in mountain tops than mountin' anything that moves.

MLK & Joan Baez? Could give a whole new meaning to "The Night they Drove Ol' Dixie Down"!

This whole JFK thing is hilarious. After over 50 years, they still needed six months to comb thru them? Did you think they were going to release relevant files? I can assure you they have more JFK flies misfiled than released. Enough of my soap box.
Now, how did the rat tell all about this orgy without participating? $50 bucks. Yea that would have done it. Somehow, this show and tell stinks to high heaven, so to speak.

So MLK had a WET dream?

BTW, despite having the same surname, MLK was no relation to my family that I am aware of.

Catch the typo in the Newsweek article?: Attorney Geberal Robert F. Kennedy

Could they have meant gerbils? :-)

@Mike aka Proof- I believe she also did a cover of "Blowin' in the Wind." Just saying.

@James Daily- I, too, found it a little unbelievable that after those papers have been locked away for generations, the authorities are only NOW going through them for sensitive information. As a rule of thumb, I just take it for granted now that those in charge will never share information which they consider disruptive. Or inconvenient.

And I have no idea how much in that FBI file about MLK may have been true or not. King spent time with Jesse Jackson, and we know he's a cheating, love child-fathering hound. At the very least, there seem to be no allegations of rape - unlike certain entertainers and former presidents I could name.

@Geoff King- I thought of using that line in my commentary (or even the header)...and then decided to dodge that bullet since I'm not sure of the historical accuracy of the files. Still...it's a funny line!

@PaBlum- The Kennedys were always very highly sexed. Theoretically, Rosemary inherited the same randiness as brothers John, Ted, and Bobby...but such shenanigans from a female could prove scandalous. Which is why her father, Joseph P. Kennedy, had her lobotomized. The ultimate rape in my opinion.

I think you mean UNCF (United Negro College Fund), not NAACP.

Lovin' it !

So MLK wasn't perfect. No one is. But it seems that anyone with any acknowledgement of conservative thought must be perfect or any discretion automatically voids any good deeds that they might accomplish. Progressives, however, are given a pass if they do anything of value. MLK did accomplish much that is admirable. Apparently he had a few moments (or days, or....) where his peccadilloes would have erased those accomplishments had he been conservative. The REAL scandal was that he WAS conservative until he made his deal with LBJ. That fact has been denied by liberals because it doesn't fit their agenda. If it wasn't for double standards, the libs would have no standards at all.

Now is the time for all the revisionist historians to come out and say..."Say it ain't so...."

When this broke, a bunch of the crew at WeaselZippers flipped out. I honestly don't see the relevance. Who the hell CARES what he did privately? He was not saying he was more moral than anyone, he was saying that he was no longer willignto be treated as sub-human, and was willing to turn the world (or our corner of it) on it's ear, w/o resorting to cheap theatrics, rabble rousing, managing the mob, incitement to riot, or any other sort of violence.
This is what made him effective, and dangerous... and I really don't care what he drank or who he boinked on the way. It's simply not relevant.
I wouldn't care about JJackson's "issues" either - except that he DOES pretend the moral high ground, and uses it to hold up corporations... screw him.

LenaD - turning the highway to heaven into a gravel driveway? Wow... just... WAOU...

This isn't anything new. I remember reading about MLK's hedonism as early as 1970. I was very disappointed in him. The articles had to be in mainstream publications (Time, Newsweek, US News & World Report, Stars & Stripes, or Army Times) since I was overseas at the time and that's about all we got for current-event reading material

Re: renaming the NAACP. The obvious way would be to call it the National Association for the Advancement of African-Americans, which would give us the acronym NAAAA. Which looks a bit...odd. Probably better than, say IAEA, which sounds like someone falling off a cliff, or perhaps an invocation to Cthulhu.

I've heard our current crop of race baiters like Sharpton call it the NAA. They arbitrarily dropped the CP. I guess so they can scream racism against people who accidentally use a disfavored term for their "community." For instance, people of color is super cool but colored people is racist. It is hard to keep up.

MLK Junior fooled around? meh... Al Capp used to call her Phony Joanie, and could he have known she was an MLK groupie, amongst other things? Sorta humorous, that.

It's also humorous that someone thought this shit needed to be kept secret for 50 years. Really? After that amount of time, I figured the Democrats would have photos of Dick Nixon on the grassy knoll with a 50 caliber machine gun.

The rumors regarding MLK's sexual appetite have been out there for 50 years, so this is hardly an earthshaking surprise. And besides, he just fits right in with the rest of America's Progressive betters. If anything, it just makes Trump look Quaker-like by comparison.

Over the last couple of years, I've come to the conclusion that the left is ready to let MLK go; So much of what MLK was after had been achieved within a few decades after his assassination. He's really not much use to them anymore. After all, much of what he said and stood for is now contrary to the current Progressive narrative. MLK wanted a non-segregated and colorblind society whereas today's Progressives are all about re-segregating us by color. MLK wanted people do be judged by character, whereas that's the last thing today's Progressives can afford. MLK wasn't a fan of homosexuality, and one can easily extrapolate that he wouldn't be a fan of the steps beyond that today. What would MLK have to say about the de-evolution of the black family or the sub-gutter level of so much of black pop culture today? Nothing good, I'd suspect. It's a contradiction and an embarrassment the left could easily live without.

Even God used flawed people to accomplish his plan for man ( EG: David, etc. ). It's the results that should count. MLK did get results....too bad they have been corrupted by the proglodytes.

Irony thy name is J. Edgar Hoover. Let's not go there.
Ms. Baez would probably have slept with a hamster after being treated so shabbily by that nasal nobody with a fake poets name.
What would have been shocking back then would hardly rate a mention compared to the stuff that is hitting the fan these days.
It isn't any of our business unless it involves children or hamsters.
